Lost Dreams

Lost the dreams of youth, simpicity of self
To oceans of time and changing seasons
The carefree days of play and frolic
Now etched in wisdoms wrinkled flesh

The toys of play, turned tools of existence
Visable on the many landscapes altered
Where monuments rise, and kingdoms parish
Buried under sands of time

The pride of man will fade to memories
Lost to the need for change, decay
The tree lined paths now paved and lifeless
Like the souls of the many who travel thereon

The poet born to sing of beauty, cries
While challenging fate, to share a dream
To parchment the soul of hope is written
Longings, prayers, put forth to inspire

But the race of man will falter, breathless
Plagued by poisoned air and stream
Dying slowly in animated life
Failing to seek his dreams

A wish I send, for smiles today, in everything you do

My friend, no poem "stinks" unless you reclaim it the day after the dog has eaten it I've read your work and find it to be quite good as others have. Poetry is not a competition but a telling of the soul.
