I'll summarize this thread for anyone who can't be bothered to read it...

"SpiderCMB offered an essay on a religious site that includes 79 references to SCIENTIFIC STUDYS that have showed that Homosexual men are more likely to molest boys...he's a HOMOPHOBE, because he believes scientific research."

"Links? Reasearch? Facts? Phtttt! MY opinion is more important than the truth!"

"What kind of Christian would actually believe the Bible!?!!! The Bible says that Homosexuality is wrong, but get with the times! Homosexuality is perfectly acceptable now and if you say it's a sin, then: You aren't a Christian, you are a homophobe, you are mentally ill and you are going to hell."

"Who cares if children are more likely to be molested by homosexual men, they might also get molested by a priest, so it's okay."

=============================================================

Yep, typical liberals. Your concern about children ends where a homosexual pediphiles sexual desires begin.

I don't believe that the Bible is a cafeteria, take what you like and ignore the rest. You have to take the whole thing. Homosexuality is a sin. <----- That's a period, it means the statement ends there

Homosexuals should be loved, but to tell homosexuals that their lifestyle is fine places you in the position of being a false teacher. That's your choice, but not one that I would choose.

i dont think saying saying that homosexual men are more likeley to molest boys makes anymore sense that saying straight men are more likely to become rapists or molest little girls,
people (excepts some women) dont go around shouting "Men are all rapists!" just bcause some of them have committed that horrible crime
Straight men wouldnt be banned from a gym where women wear sports bras and excercise with their daughters bcause of their gender and orientations history of sexual violence towards women

and wow i got called gay by some creep earlier 4 my insensative comment about the boys scouts seeming a lttle gay anyhow, im not, just an insensative (straight) creep

"let me make this perfectly clear, I am not gay nor have I ever been gay"- senator larry craig

If one were to take the bible and toss it out the window and look at this from a human angle would that change anything?

lizardking19's photo
Sat 10/20/07 09:18 PM
and really spider the bible saying homosexuality is sin is irrellevant, people used the bible in the 19th cetury 2 justify slavery, so its obviously not a clear guide 4 ones morals
All the bible saying homosexuality is wrong does is make christian gays guilty

lizardking19,

The Bible was used to support a lot of evil acts. That doesn't make the Bible responsible. Such people would have done the same things, even if they hadn't used the Bible as an excuse.

kidatheart70,

That's what most of the people here have already done. Thrown the Bible out the window, ignored 3000+ years of tradition and morals. That's a choice. My choice is to believe in the Bible.

I was a boyscout for most of my adolescents. I was a cub scout, a Weeblo and earned enough merit badges to become a star scout. Me and my brothers were all involved with the boy scouts and my father was Order of the Arrow!

I was involved with the boy scouts in three different States, and not once did I hear the word homosexual, nor did we sit around and scheme to keep gays from the scouts. Frankly it never came up!

I will also say that while in the scouts, I never heard of a troop that wasn't affiliated with a local church. That is where the meetings are held, the leadership is obtained, and the gear stored. I have seen them at Presbyterian, Mormon, Jewish, and Jehovah churches!

This fight and defamation of a fine and proud organization is originated by the gay community. Not by the scouts. They have been singled out purposely and for the sole-intent of huge press for the cause, Limelight if you will, and it personally makes me sick!

I agree the boy scouts are a private organization, but without churches across the country, I doubt they ever would have reached the stature they have!

If they are required to give up the benefits their good deeds and production of fine young men and future leaders, then let me know where to send my donation. I will gladly support their valiant cause!!!

How does that make the people that don't believe in the bible accountable to your standards?

kidatheart70,

Did I say that they are? I have offered MY OPINION. You guys are such hypocrites. You state your opinion and demand that others believe your way. I state my opinion and have to be excoriated by 1/2 the people here for not following the herd. If the Boyscouts don't want homosexual men as scout leaders, that is their right. If homosexuals have a problem with it, instead of tearing down the boyscouts, start the Homoscouts and only allow homosexual men as scout leaders.

"Can do" is the American spirit. From Pioneers who came to the US looking for a better life. To highschool students who found massive computer companies. Anytime you see someone who says "I can do it", you see someone who is truely great. Then you have the morally and ethically weak, who try to tear down institutions which have policies that they don't like. We have men sueing "Hooters" because they can't be waitresses. We have women sueing to join the Navy Seals. We have gays trying to tear down the boyscouts. Cowards and morally deficient and weak minded individuals all. If you aren't happy not being able to work at hooters as a waiter, then start your own wings shop. It's not like you would be getting a tip from some drunk guys who are there for T&A and instead they get "Keith". A woman can't physically do what a Navy Seal does, without having reduced standards. Homosexual men could start thier own version of the boyscouts, but instead they attack a 100 year old institution. Girls want into the "BOY" scouts, so they also have to attack the institution. Great idea, lets stick a couple girls in the deep woods with a bunch of teenage boys. That's really looking out for the girls best interest... How about this...MAKE YOUR OWN DAMN GROUP THAT TEACHES THE SAME SKILLS TO GIRLS? WHY, WHY, WHY destroy what someone else loves because you don't have the same? Should I go around destroying relationships because I don't have a girl friend? Grow up America. At some time you have to stop be children and stop throwing a fit and crying "IT'S NOT FAIR!!!!".

Isn't it funny....gay men and lesbian women raise straight kids and straight men and women raise homosexual kids...not always but, hey...as long as we are calling a pig a pig...
homoscouts...that is just absurd people.

I was just fixing to show that piece I read in the paper about the STRAIGHT TEACHERS WE ALL T.R.U.S.T. our kids to. Thanks Red for bringing it up. I was not aware it was here.

scttrbrain,

That article goes to prove my point, so sing it from the rooftops.

Straight men are attracted to the opposite sex.

Homosexual men are attracted to the same sex.

Straight men are more likely to molest girls.

Homosexual men are more likely to molest boys.

Besides, the Boyscouts requires that you believe in God (athiests and agnostics aren't allowed to be members or leaders) and most religions agree...Homosexuality is a sin. And last most certainly not least, The Boyscouts are a private organization and if they don't want to allow homosexual leaders, that is their choice.

I don't know what papers you are reading spider, but...the ones I read are mostly straight men with young boys. I have only ever heard personally..about two violent acts from gay men. One was of course Jeffrey Dahmer and another that was a scorned lover of another man and he dismembered him. I have never heard on the news or in the media of homosexual violence on young men or boys. Teachers have been fired and known about..when young boys were indeed molested by straight married men, teachers.

And by the way...the teacher thread is only showing that we can't trust our kids to teachers. Some are trying to say we cannot trust our kids to homosexual men. That is absurd. I know some men that are gay with kids and they are great and caring fathers. Very loving and watchful of their kids. They do not wish pain or harm on our kids or their own anymore than I do, or you.

And again I say...straight men are more likely to molest both than and gay man. I will sing it on the roof tops. Thank you. I believe that with my whole heart.

I have just realized that trying to defend gay people from straight people that I have begun to sound as if I am bashing straight men. I am not. I am so sorry it come out that way.
I will however stand up for the rights of all people to have equal rights in all that anyone has the right to do or have.
It is my opinion that too much time is spent on hating and taking away rights than loving and letting lives be lived here on this precious earth than need be wasted doing so. We are all human. We all breathe and hurt and love and bleed the same.

"But I don't see a lot of tolerance here for me stating I would like to watch out for my own kids and the kids of others. "

Of course not, they are 'right' and you are 'wrong', so 'the herd' doesn't need to consider the possible validity of your view - they will simply mock and insult until you give up. We don't need government censorship when this kind of intolerance is already woven into our culture.

Fanta, your partial agreement with Spider/Philosopher suggests you are not part of this herd - regardless of who is right, that much is respectable.

Philosopher, I don't entirely agree with your view, but I respect your sincere effort to maintain a real conversation, while others try to silence you with insults. I would offer a respectful long winded critique if I was not typing on a phone.
