are these online dating sites really effective in finding a partner...I am not talking about the matrimonial sites plz dnt confuse with that...I have a doubt.

I don;t think so, I have been on here off and on for over a year and all I ever get are men far away wanting you to send them money. I did meet one person from here in person that lived close to me and he lied about his age and said he was divorced but was still living with his wife. Hmmm how hard is it to be honest.

The problem is that scammers know that some people use dating sites because they are desperate to find someone. So desperate that they only use dating sites and not other means. Just like if you were meeting people using more traditional means, you're going to find some people who are honest and some who are not.

its strange I always thought if you were honest about who you were and what you want then it would be not too long a waiting time to find someone. now I find the opposite is true. I think the best thing to do is, not expect to find princess charming, just a real down to earth person who can be honest and you work from there.

I agree with a lot of what has already been said. At the end of the day, until you meet someone in person you do not know if it is going to move forward towards a meaningful relationship. The good thing with a dating site is that you can learn something about the person before you even decide if you want to meet them, and people who tell lies do get found out, try a Skype video call before meeting up as well. In my opinion dating sites are what they are, dating sites, and yes you can find a partner but you need to search them out. |

It works for some. But like in real life, if you stick to one location, chances are slim of meeting the right one. Sticking to just one dating site is similar.
These days there's quite a lot of ppl who met their partner via a dating site. Happened to me as well. Didn't work out in the end, but that's life. |

I read forums more often than I comment, but I have to admit I am glad to see your new posts. This advice about using Skype prior to meeting makes sense. Thanks! I'll think about it. I didn't have any luck meeting someone close to me who is looking for the relationship, not just something casual, but who knows what future brings, so... I am still here. :-) |

Only time will tell if it will work out to be good or not though. I think online dating gives you more advantage in choosing and refusing potential partners before even meeting or going to far

I know that dating sites have worked for some people.
I really wish I didn't have to weed out all of the the scammers. |

I've gone out with some right dogs since I started using dating sites. For example, there was this one bird I was seeing, and typically she was playing hard to get, well anyway I was walking her home one night expecting to get my end away when all of a sudden she burped. She actually added a bit extra to it, to make it louder. I remember thinking why would she do that... was it to test me?
