As a stay at home I'm always at work, unless I'm outside doing other unpaid work since I "do nothing all day" and have time and energy to do every job that is unpaid.

As a stay at home I'm always at work, unless I'm outside doing other unpaid work since I "do nothing all day" and have time and energy to do every job that is unpaid. Oh dear, Estelle......that sounds a bit bitter! I assume when you say 'paid', you are referring to payment in monetary terms. Work done in the house of which we are a part of does not get paid in cash. We get 'paid' when our child smiles at us, give you that wet smooch, and cling on to you when they want some comfort. You might disagree 'clinging' is payment, but it shows me all my work is not wasted and I am wanted by my child. Cherish this time as they 'outgrow' it sooner than you think. Try to find out ways to get out of the vicious cycle that you are going thru'. I may not have read all your posts, but I have read enough to feel you are going thru a rough time. We all go thru rough times, and I am still going thru' it myself. Find time when your child is asleep to indulge with a cup of drink, put up your feet and do something you like.....it could be as simple as read a book, listen to some good music or see a TV movie. Cheers....and hope you find something to smile about |

If I had a tough day at work, it's almost certain that I will take a warm, relaxing (scented candles and all) bath in the evening. I also find that a glass of wine or a cup of tea (camomile or other herbal) will help me relax.

The way I can relax myself from a stressful day, is taking a hot bath, while listening to some music. Or when it's not to cold outside going out for a walk helps- stepping outside can help you have a little moment off work

Retired at 55 but usually sleep as it is almost always late when I get in from shrimping, fishing, gigging, or whatever activity I am doing, I prefer nighttime outdoors activity, or at least early morning or late evening when the sun is low...that is as close to work as I get.

Envy you.....not having to work! I guess when you don't actually have to work, then getting about doing whatever activity you indulge in will be a sort of 'relaxation'! I know some just goes fishing to relax! Peace and quiet and maybe, a book while waiting for the fish to bite? |
