This is the madness of the story.
'ALBUQUERQUE, Jan 9 (Reuters) - An Albuquerque police officer shot and critically wounded a fellow officer during an undercover narcotics bust at a fast food franchise parking lot at around mid-day on Friday, police said.

Police would not release additional details of the shooting or of the nature of the officer's injuries.

"Both officers involved were working in a plain clothes, undercover capacity and have been with the department for many years," said Albuquerque Police Department spokeswoman Celina Espinoza said, adding that two suspects were arrested.

The incident comes after a federal investigation concluded the police department in the mid-sized U.S. city in New Mexico used excessive, even deadly, force against passive civilians.'

A police officer being shot is nothing to smile about. Needing a heart transplant?

in any society where pain unto others comes to be considered justice, do come slowly until fully ripened, down many a streets and avenues, many a psychotics.

no there not all hero's and they are plenty of bad ones... plenty of good ones as well.

Its called friendly fire a new term for a situation that has been happening since the dawn of time.

I don't know how it is in your area but in mine it happens a lot. The undercover cops are out doing a buy and bust and things go wrong. We had 2 cops shot in the head and killed while doing a buy and bust for guns. They never had the chance to even get their guns out, they were in the front seat of the car.. 2 bads guys in the back seat.

There is plenty wrong with our current policing.. plenty. And more weeding out of the bad needs to happen.. better selection and training as well.

That Cop who got shot down there in New Mexico very well may have been one of the good ones. For anyone to be happy he got shot is just plain wrong.

At times we tend to think of our police like we think of our car mechanics...don't give them much thought.. until the car breaks.. then he is the most important guy you know.

There is a 99.999% chance I am going home after work today..so are you.. they can't make that claim.

If you read any of my posts, you will see that I am no Cop Lover.. but lets be fair here.

I want to cry but my heart say smile.

I want to bang my head against the wall, but my heart says facepalm.

I say we reserve judgment on the officers until more information gets released. It could simply have been a miss on another target. With both officers undercover, there's no telling if either knew about the other's mission. There are so many things that could've gone wrong that we don't know about.

Or was the police officer who was shot working under cover for the rat squad (internal affairs) or some other law enforcement agency trying to get dirt on the department and was discovered? Maybe this wasn't an accident at all. Maybe he was a witness to some wrong doing.......

You are a very sick, sick, sick individual......... Anytime ANY police office is hurt on the job, shot, stabbed or killed is a day I feel sick to my stomach. It is a tragedy. These are people who have a dangerous job protecting all of us from the madness out there and they put their lives on the line all day every day so we can have and enjoy ours.
