Oh poor Lonely, you suffer from PMS too, poor guy.

Depression is a medical diagnosis that can require treatment, and depressing can be any event that makes you feel depressed temporarily (a headache, bad news, an illness, etc.).

Read it earlier, and just reviewed it.
I have to argue your point that "people choose to be depressed."

It is not a life choice, it happens to you.

Read my earlier posts in this thread, I tried to explain my take on it above. Sometimes it starts in childhood due to trauma, abuse, dysfunctional families, abusive spouses, etc., so I would argue the point that it is a "choice."

I do believe that is some cases it is curable, but in some cases not.

not my point
the point of the book i'm reading
that is why i asked if people wanted me to post more things i'm learning in that book
so u can see the reasons why the author argues why people choose to depressed
except in the cases when it's a pathology treated with medicines

I have a close friend who's wife has just given birth to their second.

She is bipolar anyway, and controls it exceptionally well with medication.

But the first child sent her into manic depression. It was bad. But it was sorted out.

The second child's arrival has brought on terrors. The lady has had to be admitted to a mental health hospital.

He thinks he has failed his wife somehow.

It has a stigma in the UK, and people are not prepared to accept that its an illness like many others.

I am so sorry for your friend Belushi, it sounds like she may have had a major case of postpartum depression kick in on top of her bipolar depression and it pushed her over the edge. I hope she gets it back under control quickly. How sad to have a new baby and then get so depressed. I hope she is home soon with her new baby and family. Her husband didn't fail her, her brain chemicals just went out of balance. Take care.
