It's not crazy to expect different results from different people. We're not all the same. That said, I'm sorry for your troubles, Sandy. I don't know the guy you're dealing with, but if that guy's going back on his promise, then there are probably reasons for it. I doubt there's too much you can do. Best to just expect that he'll never leave and work with that, until he does break free. |

Most people in this situation are looking for something different, sexually,mentally, and attention that they are not getting at home. After the newness wears off it becomes boring and they move on. Rarely do they leave their families and responsibilities , alas you been played. I hope you find someone who really cares for you next time. Best wishes.

There are a lot of intelligent women who have been taken in by this "promise." The man wants to have his cake and eat it too. Some go to great lengths to maintain this illusion instead of working on things at home or getting out. The woman wants to believe him....it's a delusion that she allows herself because she wants to believe it is true. it seldom turns out to be, however. People often believe what they want to believe, hear what they want to hear.... |

I think there are men who mean what they say, but simply can't choose. So they love both they wife and the other woman.
So if he's with the other woman, he might feel that that's where he wants to be, but as he gets home, a similar thing happens. And ultimately he will have more bonding with his wife, often been together longer, know each other really well, have children and a home together. He knows what he's got (also in the long run), not what he will get. Plus the financial side of splitting up. And when push comes to shove, he might love his wife more. I think it will only work out if the guy has fallen out of love with his missus and falls in love with his lover (to be). Goes the other way round too (a married woman who cheats on hubby) Just another possible scenario. |

I agree Crystal that can also happen...and most are not going to give up their lifestyle regarding the financial sacrifices of leaving his wife
and others, the majority, I believe, really do not want to leave their wives. I am not really sure that the dynamics are the same for women. IDK. |

True, but that is only one reason...Not all women are dumb and not all men stay with their wives...Many leave the marriage to be with the mistress...Don't forget, it takes two to make a marriage and two to break it...Some men (and women) cheat because they are driven to it by abusive or neglectful partners...Before anyone "jumps", I'm not saying thats right, I'm just saying people are not perfect and they're not always strong.... @ the OP...Sandy, if you are asking because you are a mistress, cut him off...If he loves you, he will end his marriage and begin a proper life with you...If he is a user, you will only hear his lame excuses about why he can't leave his wife and how hard his life is and how much he needs you  ...All BS hon....If there is a next time, think before you decide to f u c k a married man...Think about his wife, think about his children if he has them, and think about your dignity...Doing so might make you back off and look for a man who is both emotionally and physically available to you....Good luck!
