Most of the time being alone is bearable. What really sucks is those moments when you need comfort. Like last night when I woke from a terrifying dream.

Yes and when the power goes out and it is freezing cold.

You are right. I used to hate that. I dont know which is worse , the darkness. Or the cold

If you had gas heat or a fire place where you burned wood. You wouldn't have a cold house for very long. Although it will get cold again with burning wood if you fall asleep for to long.

The thing I miss is having someone to confide in. There is nothing better than being able to look in a woman's eyes and tell her anything with out being judged.

The same goes for a woman Jacktrades, or at least for me anyway. It would be wonderful if we could all feel this same way. There is nothing that means so much as someone you can confide in with anything and everything.

I was thinking the exact same thing, everyone needs a gas heater or a fireplace. And when the power's on, you need an electric blanket.

Burning coal lasts longer and it will piss off all the environmentalists in your neighborhood.

I miss not being able to share in the adventure. Waking up, sharing dreams, thoughts and ideas. Working together towards something larger than whom we ourselves are as just individuals.

I miss feeling wanted for who I am (even after knowing my faults), not what they want me to be.

I have recently been told that one of the coolest things is having a "woman's point of view"!
He has some male friends he's known since grade school and does things with, but they all pretty well think the same!
It feels awesome to have someone value what you think. flowerforyou

Made me think of George Thorogood:
The other night I laid sleeping
And I woke from a terrible dream
So I caught up my pal Jack Daniel's
And his partner Jimmy Beam
And we drank alone, yeah
With nobody else ...

And yeah, sometimes it's not nice being alone. But I must say the times I feel I miss a partner because of something bad happening, get less and less. I guess I'm getting better at coping on my own and standing on my own two feet. I even put spiders outdoors now  And a while back I felt something was wrong in my house, another time the lights in my bedroom started flickering and yet another time something touched me, been gently pushed in the back twice as well.
Normally I would've totally freaked out, now I just deal with it.

Occasionally miss the good things, cuddling up for instance, and yeah, a good conversation or having a good laugh together.
And I miss having someone around to put the bins out every week, lol.

What you call faults others would label virtues.

Better a diamond with a flaw than a pebble without.

Holidays and those little moments when you feel alone can sure be tough. Planning and investing in friends make a lot more sense when these realities sink in. Living single does not mean living with out friends or even roommates or neighbors.

And yea I really worry about my friends during this brutal winter time. Economy is really kicking a lot of people in the head.

I do think adults need to plan ahead for emergencies. Grown ups know that having emergency supplies including ways to stay warm are part of life. Yes it is difficult and it does mean sometimes sacrificing things you want; but winter rolls around every year and off season you can save a lot by buy the things you need. I haven't been camping in 25 years but keeping a small bottle of fuel and a camp stove/lantern to use at least on the patio means my family has never spent a day that they did not have a hot meal and light.

Like the old song "Momma said there would be days like this." If folks are having these fears or situations in their lives maybe upgrading their ability to cope is a good idea for their short list to Santa.

I personally fear most dreams that are unpleasant are our inner thoughts trying to guide us to a safer place or position in our lives.
