For the record we live in America. Freedom of speech .So if
Someone is racist it's there beliefs. Noone can stop the KU KLUX KLAN
At public rallies. Or the BLACK PANTHER PARTY.

this is true,, and I personally don't bother as much with the john doe/jane doe personal racism that may be in peoples hearts

I am concerned however with INSTITUTIONAL racism , if there is a cultural acceptance of certain stereotypes and attitudes that validate those in powers of oppression to continue to oppress,,

racism is part of every culture... when a black hires another black, is it racism or being pro black? spanish, whites, blacks, whatever, most races will help their own first, which is not racism...

it is white privilege when the majority race is white,, and the tendency to help ones own first is ingrained in the society , in the justice system, in the educational system, in the healthcare system, in the media,,,

it is racism and privilege which concerns me when it is a matter of justice, housing, employment or education which is not and should not be just about 'their own'

life is rough, huh...not sure where your living, but the majority is NOT white in Houston...
\

I live in America,, where the majority are white,, although they have now added 'hispanic' to make the numbers a bit smaller,,,,

You are correct to say "if", because you keep referring to something that may not be as nearly as bad as you make it out to be.

Meanwhile, real acts of modern-day racism remain ignored because of who is committing the acts.

African-American economist Thomas Sowell writes the following.

For American society, a dangerous polarization has set in. Signs of this polarization over the years include opposite reactions between blacks and whites to verdicts in the O.J. Simpson murder case, the "rape" charges against Duke University students, and trials resulting from the beating of Rodney King and the death of Trayvon Martin.

More dangerous than these highly publicized episodes over the years are innumerable organized and unprovoked physical attacks on whites by young black gangs in shopping malls, on beaches and in other public places all across the country today.

While some of these attacks make it into the media as isolated incidents, the nationwide pattern of organized black on white attacks by thugs remains invisible in the mainstream media, with the notable exception of Bill O'Reilly on the Fox News Channel.

Even when these attacks are accompanied by shouts of anti-white rhetoric and exultant laughter at the carnage, the racial makeup of the attackers and their victims is usually ignored by the media, and public officials often deny that race has anything to do with what happened.

These attacks have sent many people to the hospital, and some have died, but the attacks are often carried out in a festive atmosphere. What are called "troubled youths," in this and other contexts, are often in fact young people enjoying themselves greatly by creating big trouble for others.

Some of these many attacks are covered in detail in a book titled "White Girl Bleed A Lot" by Colin Flaherty. It was a phrase that I recognized immediately, from my own previous research.

That phrase was uttered by one of a group of black attackers who descended on a group of whites at a July 4th fireworks show in Milwaukee. But what happened there was not unique, either in itself or in the efforts of police and political authorities to play down what happened -- and to say that race had nothing to do with it.

When the Chicago Tribune was criticized for editing out the race of the attackers in a series of similar organized attacks in Chicago, it replied that race was irrelevant. Yet race is not considered irrelevant when indignantly editorializing on a disproportionate number of young black males arrested and imprisoned.

but race IS considered most times people use the reference to how there is a 'disproportionate number' of young black males arrested and imprisoned

its not about who is committing crimes,, we know crimes will happen and we EXPECT justice to be dealt

the issue usually gains press when there is an indication that for reasons which sometimes seem like they are racial or classist in nature,,,, that JUSTICE WILL NOT BE DEALT

like for a man who is being brutalized by a gang of cops
or an unarmed teen who is shot dead by a male with a record of aggression who has stalked him while carrying a gun

and it seems like there is more of a tendency for justice to be dealt 'disproportionately' more often against young black males than any other,,,

,,,,,,but I know,, this significant issue will continue to escape the minds of some who think its just about whether a crime is interracial in its nature,,,

Let me ask you.

Two black men interview for a job.

One is well dressed, educated and articulate.

One is dressed like a gang banger with his pants hanging below his A$$, is a high school drop out and is speaking ghetto slang.

Which of these 2 get the job and WHY?

Two white men interview for a job.

One is well dressed, educated and articulate.

One is dressed like a Jethro Bodine, is a high school drop out and talks like Jethro Bodine.

Which one of these 2 gets the job and WHY?

apples and oranges

im not comparing people within a group, obviously some other traits would be used to assess a DIFFERENCE, if they are not from a different group

Im talking about when there is a difference in race, between people who have similar attributes and qualifications

perhaps its easier to believe that blacks are just lazier and less motivated as the reason their unemployment is consistently near double that of their white counterparts

but , being a black person , growing up with black people, and associating regularly with black people,, I happen to believe its much more about the attitudes expressed in this thread,,, that people help 'their own' and stick to 'their own',,that when your 'own' is the majority of who makes those decisions,, it gives you an unearned and automatic priviliege,,

Dang it, MsH has found us whiteys out.
When ever us whiteys are hanging out with no black around, we just cuss blacks, call them N words and laugh at them. Then we plan how we are going to keep them out of good jobs and hire only our white brothers. And scheme to keep blacks from voting and doing lots of other stuff. I don't know how she found out, it is such a closely guarded secret. Now every one knows only whites are racist.

One form of institutional racism is called Affirmative Action. It uses race to determine if a person will be granted something.

If one speaks against the institutional racism called Affirmative Action, then I will believe that one is seriously opposed to institutional racism.

actually , that is NOT What affirmative action does

educate yourself on what the laws actually state, instead of the fearmongering propaganda people spread about what they THINK It says

there is no affirmative action policy that grants PREFERENCE Based upon race,, that's the opposite of what it does which is to make sure there is INCLUSION of the previously excluded group in the OPPORTUNITY,,,,

so no, 'one' will not be speaking against affirmative action, which considering thoughts like those above and in other threads, in a majority white country with the oppressive history of America,, is VERY Necessary,,,

No, I am not spreading fear-mongering propaganda.

Affirmative Action involves decisions that are based on race or ethnicity.

By the way, if we are going to talk about "the oppressive history of America", then we will be talking about the oppressive history of the Democratic Party.

IF you 'whiteys' (as you call yourself for some reason) did hang around calling blacks n words, that would be your right and your prerogative,, no one here (to my knowledge)has any institutional power over my life or freedom or livelihood

however, if enough 'whiteys' sitting on judges benches, or supreme courts, or media programming rooms or school boards or congresses feel like they need to help 'their own' first,,, and are believers in stereotypes about the 'undeserving, lazy, unambitious' poor or minority,,

it becomes a problem,,,

and by the way,, no one party can oppress by itself,, I have no interest in making racism about a political label

it would be more honest to discuss it in terms of north and south, if one chooses to go there

at one point democrats had far more of the southerners, called DIXIECRATS who were most of those who supported oppression,, until they switched to republican

affirmative action as it pertains to contractors:

EO 11246
1.The contractor will not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin

2.2.The contractor will, in all solicitations or advancements for employees placed by or on behalf of the contractor, state that all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex or national origin

The Department of Labor's Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) enforces the Executive Order 11246, as amended; Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended and the affirmative action provisions (Section 4212) of the Vietnam Era Veterans' Readjustment Assistance Act, as amended. Taken together, these laws ban discrimination and require Federal contractors and subcontractors to take affirmative action to ensure that all individuals have an equal opportunity for employment, without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability or status as a Vietnam era or special disabled veteran.

In administering a program regarding which the recipient [of federal funding] has previously discriminated against persons on the ground of race, color, or national origin, the recipient must take affirmative action to overcome the effects of prior discrimination.

-- Civil Rights Act (1964

important: 'which the recipient has PREVIOUSLY discriminated'
recipient must 'take affirmative action to overcome the effects of PRIOR discrimination'

also known as Restitution or punitive action

But I have to as always give them the excuse of ignorance because there are lots of white racists that do not believe they are racists so when you call them one they think you are just trying to push their buttons instead of realizing they are racists.

The only thing I don't like are the Presidents policies and certain members of his administration. I didn't like Bush either. So if people think that makes me a racist just because I disagree? Methinks the term "racist" gets used too much by people who really don't know the definition or use it in a VERY broad way.

Just because of the name of this thread I wanted to say that sometimes racism isn't so secret. Like when I found out the KKK has a website. I was surprised. Almost as surprised as when I found out NAMBLA has a website. lol

I never would have thought a pro-pedophile site would actually get made. But they used to also have a magazine. So I guess it shouldn't be to surprising. It would be much more surprising if they actually listed the names of all their members on the site and gave addresses. It would be like drawing a bull eye on your head and handing someone a hunting rifle. hahaha
