Topic: Three black teens beat white boy on bus | |

well the truth is, MOST kids don't resort to drugs or violence but when they DO,, they are more likely to have come from single parent homes than nuclear families Well I agree with the violence part...but not sure if MOST kids never try or experiment with some form of drug or alcohol. I would say Most do but the majority don't stay on them or let them control their lives. If we include alcohol and tobacco as drugs then I Agree, most probably at least 'try' it at some time,, |

What a damned shame that crimes like these have got to be about "Black and white" BS ! The point i see is that three boys beat the **** out of one boy Which is CRIMINAL and should be punished accordingly ! Not about their color ... Victims are victims regardless of race, creed or color And criminals the same... Yes it is a shame. And the Jackson's and Sharptons of the world make it that way. Its a bigger shame that the main stream media gives air time to the likes of these people. There are thousands of great role models for blacks(and all Americans)like Supreme court judge Clarence Thomas, Ben Carson, J.C. Watts, Condoleezza Rice just to name a few who rose up from mostly poor families and inner city places because they didn't believe the BS from the Sharpton characters and instead believed their parents that they could accomplish anything they set out to do! Its a shame that there are so many who believe these racist, bigots that tell the lies that only repress them more. These so called rights activists make a considerable fortune shaking down corporations and the American people. |

I think this is a lot of false assumption why do people think that because black folks achieve something in life they therefore DONT BELIEVE that racism exists or should be addressed, or that discrimination exists or should be addressed? politicians and speakers make money , that is their occupation, regardless of what their area of interest is,,,, its not about any of that really yes, there are many role models, but those role models have often made it IN SPITE Of real issues that need changing in the days of jim crow, some blacks managed to become prosperous, but that did nothing to eliminate the real need for discussion about and solution to the jim crow culture in America,,, nor did it mean they suddenly stopped believing it was there or that it needed to be addressed |

As submitted in another thread.
There is no evidence that poverty creates crime. What group would stand to lose the most freebies if AA was abolished? That same group needs the Sharptons, Jessie's Faorycans and Shabitches to stir chit. Fine hell out of the ghetto rats parents and bury the little basterds in juvie |

That would be ignorant. There has always been racism against any and every ethnic culture that came to America. The Chinese that came here to work on the railroads were mistreated and abused , the Irish that came during the potato famine ,the Italians and Greeks and native Americans who were seen as less than citizens and drunks. The difference seems to be all these cultures seemed to assimilate into the American culture after time because they didn't have race baters creating friction between other groups. I would argue that Most successful African Americans have assimilated well and only those that feel they should have special treatment or preference because of some past injustice are those that believe what the Sharpton's of the world are spouting. As long as there are racists like Jackson and Sharpton(and get their air time), there will always be a divide between Blacks and the rest of the American cultures. |

I don't agree with all of Jim Crow.
There is a lot of wisdom in there. Separatism, segregation. Those are some of the qualities jackasses like Fairycan, Al and Shabitch are pushing for. Good thing they have oBummer on their side. Oh! But wait! Barry's white side supports eugenics. Hopefully, many dems, libs and progressives will take advantage of his freebie, spay and neuter clinics. Voluntarily, of course. |

I think this is a lot of false assumption why do people think that because black folks achieve something in life they therefore DONT BELIEVE that racism exists or should be addressed, or that discrimination exists or should be addressed? politicians and speakers make money , that is their occupation, regardless of what their area of interest is,,,, its not about any of that real respectfully of course the groups you mention have significant differences in the CIRCUMSTANCES of their status in America the Chinese and Italians and greeks did not have American laws WRITTEN on the books for DECADES to create an inferior status for them the Italians and greeks became 'white',, I dare say its dishonest to assume anyone is looking at NATIONALITY anymore when they are RACIST,,,they are separate issues RACISM is about race, not nationality,, the only example given that is an example of race is the Chinese, and yes, they were mistreated, but were they written in the books as substandard and not equal for decades? were they brought in the hundrdeds of thousands to be enslaved or did they CHOOSE To come here to try to escape whatever terrors were in their country? were they ever not able or allowed to go home because of their race? are those not BORN here truly assimilated into the culture, or do they maintain a culture of their own? and do they come here as slaves and oppressed peoples or do they come mostly from the cream of the crop in their OWN countries,, America has not truly taken on the 'poor' in a long while,, immigrants who come legally ALREADY have some network of support before they arrive,,, racism doesn't exist because people talk about it or address it,, It would exist even if no one talked about it,, it just would never change,,,, Race and nationality are the same, look in dictionary under synonyms for nationality. Racism is a discrimination against a particular nationality or group. Having said that, you are wrong in that Chinese, Indians were allowed to vote. I would say there were no laws against Blacks, only non-laws that didn't provide them with freedom and rights as others(at least in the constitution). Also it must be said that yes, circumstances were different from culture to culture and most came here because of poverty, famine or just to find a better home. But what must also be said, and before I go into this, I believe slavery of any kind or form is wrong, even as it still exists in countries today. I would argue that the slaves that came to America were fortunate to have a chance to come here. I know that may seem profound, but here is why. The slave trade was started by black men, when there were tribal wars among the different tribes in Africa(these tribal wars still go on today)the winning tribe would hack all the men and older women to death and keep the younger girls to rape and force to have their children. Well then came the opportunity to sell their captives for money and goods instead of just killing them all. So in a strange way the slaves were better off being sold then being hacked to death. Also most slaves that were saved from death were actually treated quite well. It wasn't like you see in movies, although I'm sure there were bad and sadistic slave owners, most treated them well just as they would their horses or assets because if you feed them well and treat them well they are more productive to your operation. Women were maids, cooks etc and some became like family. Now I know you may think I'm painting a rosy picture, I'm NOT, I'm only saying that as bad as slavery is, the alternative they faced was much worse. Now getting back to "racism". Racism is a part of human evolution dating back to the beginning of time. Romans,Greeks, Jews, etc etc all had racism, its a part of the human experience born from mistrust of a culture unknown. As forms of transportation evolved from chariots to boats to ships and to planes, man was able to travel to places not known before and cultures did not mix well because of the human instinct of survival not to trust the unknown. But as the years went by, people realized that different cultures could mingle and survive. But those in power, the kings, monarchs, emperors etc knew that to hold onto their power and resources they had to demonize the outsiders. The saying "divide and conquer" is not just some flippant saying, it's a reality and is used quite well by some. Obama is a master of this and owes his election to dividing the races, pitting rich against poor and gender against gender("war on women"). It's also used quite well by Sharpton and Jackson, because they know if there is harmony(no pun intended)among blacks and whites, they become irrelevant and out of work. I think racism really does not exist in the hearts of people, it is placed, taught and nurtured through people that have an agenda. Too long I know...but even this is just skimming the surface. |

what we use as synonyms in the English language doesn't mean they are THE SAME in context of a conversation
family is another synonym of nationality,, but obviously in the context of speaking of my family (who are from many nations) I would not be referring to nationality,,, ,,but semantics debates aside racism is alive and well, it persists in the 'hearts' of people it exists institutionally because of those who have some advantage in continuing to act upon it it is also produced and manifested individually by the culture and environment in the way it chooses to educate about race and the perceptions it chooses to manifest about race and the images it predoiminately puts forth about race I think equating those who talk about racism to the racists, even implying it is merely the acknowledgement and discussion that causes the racism is kind of like equating those who oppose infidelity to those who are unfaithful, suggesting that their mere acknowledgement or capacity to speak about or protest about the behavior is the cause of the behavior itself is kind of the extreme and cliché 'blame the victim' type of philosophy, that helps those who would/do oppress continue to do so,,,, |

racism is alive and well, it persists in the 'hearts' of people who have some advantage in continuing to act upon it Exactly! well said..see Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson who take advantage and continue to act upon it! |

racism is alive and well, it persists in the 'hearts' of people who have some advantage in continuing to act upon it
And speaking of racism . . . from Investor's Business Daily: [Al]Sharpton has made a career of racial incitement. He once called Jews "diamond merchants" and described whites moving businesses into Harlem as "interlopers."
He helped incite three days of anti-Semitic rioting in 1991 in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn, turning a tragic traffic accident into a riot where two people died and more than 100 were wounded. Then there was Freddy's Fashion Mart in Harlem in 1995, subject to the Sharpton campaign to drive out "interlopers." To scare the Jewish owner away, Sharpton turned a tenant-landlord dispute into a racial conflict, resulting in arson of the store and seven deaths. And what did Congressman Charles Rangel have to say about the Tea Party? It is the same group we faced in the South with those white crackers and the dogs and the police.
(Rangel quote source) Yep, as long as black racists can get away with spewing their racism, racism will be alive and well. |

Maybe your memory is slipping. He called New York "HYMIETOWN" in a derogatory remark about the Jewish population. I wonder what future a white racist politician would have if he called NY "niggertown"? He'd be lucky to be selling popcorn at a movie theater! These two both hung on to Martin Luther King, yet never learned one thing about what MLK stood for. |

sorry I forgot we are suppose to see Trayvon as just an "innocent child" LOL I don't think age has anything to do with Sharpton stuffing his wallet with money. remember the Brawly(spelling?)case in NYC? She was a minor too. I don't know what to tell you, its apparently just not gonna be clear the difference YEP in the case of the lying child,, she was a MINOR but her assailants were ADULTS it was also not a case of an event that occurred BETWEEN CHILDREN Tawana Brawley didn't have assailants. Her story was a hoax. Yet, it is true that Brawley's enablers were adults. |
