do i need to read back thru all this??

when does one become an older woman?

am i there yet?

does it mean i have passed menopause?
which generally finishes somewhere in a woman's 50's?

does it happen when i've passed a certain criteria??

isn't it much different than wisdom ? or knowledge? or experience?

old to me, looks like the same ole same ole, repetitious auto pilot , fear driven mechanisms that run people of any age in the Dance..

is old when my hands are withered and coloured by the scars of so many gardens? when my eyes wrinkle across my cheeks as i smile??

or when i am simply tired...resigned, at 35
and have surrendered to imagined limitations...?

i don't own a car, for the last 12 years i have ridden a bicycle everywhere i need to go , (unless i am in the field)
every day is different, i am bound by my lifestyle to be alert to command my direction on the streets and have an acute peripheral vision, as do all mothers with children on bikes in Amsterdam.... i am raising a 13 year old girl...there is no place for old, if i am involved..lol

sigh
which brings again the question

is aging the same as getting old??

when i was 40 i was giving birth again...i felt as new as a mother as i did every other time,

was i an old mother?

only by the experience gleaned, but the metamorphosis delivered me again, and the crone still waves at me from her winter .

i am ancient and i am as fresh as any virgin to this kismet

maybe i am in denial
or maybe it's my own call,
or maybe it is another concept ...

that calls for flexibility...they say it's relative ....

some days i feel really old...maybe i even look like it..

but i had days like that when i was 26..(.during the war in Lebanon)

so when do i get to be an older woman actually...??flowerforyou

bl8ant loved the post while we may be older according to the birth certificate that doesnt mean we have to be old in our minds . So much of aging is giving in to the new aches that show up fro time to time or letting that new crease on the face get into the head . thanx for the great insight .flowerforyou

Thanks for all of you cruising through...

In regards to the term "older women" ...
Actually PKH started the post yesterday
and it was later deleted...

I was going to just post a thread for women in general,
But,I have had several requests
to do another older women post, so this is it...

I thought I would be more specific & focus on the things
that we ladies in our 40's 50's and so on, go through ...
Of course it is all about how you feel
about yourself and the world around you......

I am older in years, full of a wealth of wisdom & life experience...I have more youthfulness & vitality than many other women half of my age....
They often think I'm in my thirties and
if I colored my hair they would think me younger..
.
I have heard people who didn't know us, come up and start praying for me and my Son in Church as if we are a couple....

People tell me I look like my daughters' sister...

But Hey..... I thank them...and tell them they need glasses...

It just happens to happen a lot...
The other day "I told someone I had a 33 year old daughter
and 31 year old boy and girl twins and he said to me...
"How old were you when you had her? Six????"

I also ride bikes and need to have excellent range of motion and peripheral vision and excellent hearing to ride the streets of Sacramento with all the construction going on everywhere...

with cars parked on both sides of the street and thousands and thousands of state workers not even looking where they are going...driving like bats out of hell,
and with their faces
and all of their attention in their d---- cell phones...

It's a mad house here, and then bring in a concert at ARCO Arena or the Kings playing there,
and a game at the Rivercats Stadium and it is a nightmare...

And it is worse in SanFrancisco, Seattle and LA, no doubt...
Maybe cities close to where you live are just as bad...

So, anyway...I love my bicycle...It keeps me in decent shape...
I have blood work to die for...Pulse is always low, low blood pressure, cood cardivascular condition, low cholesterol, etc.
I ride down to the river in the evening at sunset and put a good 10 miles on the bike and get a good workout...The sun is splendid shining in rays through the branches and leaves of the Huge cottonwood trees, with the river flowing and trees swaying.
Skunks come out in droves in the evening and look like little Roomba vacuum cleaners scouring every section of the grass...
If you don't let them know you are there, they'll just wander right up to you and they get freaked , so I give em warning....
i've never seen them spray and I don't want to find out what it is like....get out your tomato juice... laugh flowerforyou
