Topic: Michael Vicks plea bargain | |

scttr...when your mom catches youwithyour hand in the cookie jar...always better to "plea bargain". usually a plea goes easier on you than a trial and found guilty

they use plea bargains because it's still a guilty plea and they don't have to pay the cost of a trial.

I know about plea bargains. Murderers get away with just jail time if they plea. Or lesser charges. Not right.
My mom didn't plea bargain with us kids. We got punished. As did my kids. Kat |

I expect that Vick will get around 1 to 2 years pen time...a hefty fine, maybe 5 years parole/probation from the feds. I suspect that he will get another couple and a fine from the state. then, a year suspension from the NFL. That will cost him somewhere aroound 50 million. that is a pretty stiff penalty

Okay, I quit. You all know my opinion. I think he should get jail time and not just one year! He is a scoundrel, and ignored the law. He plea'd to not have to face his fellow abusers in court.
That's all I have to say about it at this time. I am mad at him for his abusive behavior. I feel sick for these poor poor dogs. Kat |

Goodnight guys. I will leave it to you now. Have a great night and behave.....or not.

scttrbrain, the object of the judicial system is to punish those who break the law in a clear and deliberate way.
If a person repeatedly broke the law he would be treated differently from someone who has a first offense. You said you,d like to see Vick go to jail for several years. Thats not going to happen! Not because of who he is, but because that would be insane on behalf of the Judge. I don,t believe he will go to jail at all... but if he does it will be in one of those country club places I,ve heard about and it would be for less then 6 months sort of like Martha Steward. |

Ok..He gave his plea bargain and now he claims that he never bet. We all know that's a lie. They are playing the game now. He wants to say he is guilty..but just for the lesser charges. I said it before. These lawyers are slick. They will get him down to a minimum sentence to preserve as much of his supposed innocense as possible. This end up as a show that pushes the real problem under the rug.
Vick started doing the dog fighting at his own house. He would fight them and let them heal up and fight them again. He loves doing this. It's his thing. He put up all the money for the kennel property and he backed all the fights with his money when they lost. That is gambling. He should be punished but...he may get off with a slap on the wrist. |
lakeman, we don,t all know that,s a lie and neither do you.
yeah we do redmond. what vick actually denied doing was placing side bets at the fights. he freely admits to placing bets with the oppossing kennel. it's all in the case files that won't come to light because he took the plea deal.
the bottom line is that vick really did participate in the things that he is charged with so he took the plea deal for a reduced sentence. i don't think he'll get more than a year though. i agree with you redmond on the scenario where he gets community service and makes donations and does some speaking for animal organizations.

of course all of that is riding on whether or not the surrey county prosecutor doesn't pursue the case after he's been sentenced federally.

So what their saying he's just like the dogs he was killing...
He got into electacuting them & pounding them to death in front of the other dogs.. to build team spirit right!! It wasn't about the $$$$$ It was for the sport of killing!!! Like a pitbull once they taste that blood!! There is no stopping them.... |

He should be made into an example, for all those animals that die in fighting rings, they will have some light upon them as people realize that the law ain't gonna ***** foot around it anymore. I see these animals up close and personal at shelters and it sucks that their lives were born into violence, and now has to end because an owner turned its fate before it was even born. I say Vick and his toads should get 3-4 years in jail.

Hey! I got a great Idea for punishment.. They shouldn't go to jail Federal prison even, omg!! that's like camp snoopy!! That would be like a vacation at a health spa...
They should have to do community service where they go around to pick up road kill of any kind or working for a rendering plant like out here the dairies just put their dead out front in the heat they get all bloated then those guy use a cable to drag them into the trucks.. That stench is so discusting & it doesn't go away... They get their rocks off with blood & gore.... |

i agree with today nfl choice of pushiment. i belive he should pay back this years money he signed as well. personly he should got kicked of the team for showing the birds to his fans last year . or the year before.

I believe that Vick's NFL career is in deep doodoo. I would expect that the falcons will cut him and also cut their losses by getting back some of their money, if he has any left. after a year or so in the fed pen, and a year or two suspension from the NFL after that, that makes about three years sitting around. It will take a year for him to get his **** back in one sock in practice and games. That is somewhere between 4 and 5 years. He is then getting pretty old and the legs start going, most running backs are pretty well finished by 30 - 32. Take away his running ability and what do you have left? A very mediocre qback. He'l be extremely lucky if anyone even signs him for league minimun. And that scenario leaves the probable state charges to be dealt with

the commissioner of the NFL has already said that his league suspension will start when he is incarcerated so both temrs will run concurrent. if he only serves a year that will give him a year to get back in shape. even if the falcons cut him some one will sign. i've never been a fan because personally i don't think his playing style meshes with an NFL offense but someone will give him a shot.
had not read they were running concurrently. I think it will take a year or two after the house before the radioactivity of his offense goes away...then maybe someone will take him cheap. And you are correct that his style and areas of talent do not mesh well with an NFL q'back.
