You like what you like. You don't need to explain it or defend it to anyone.

In the case of the OP's author, nobody is being harmed by his dating choice. One would have to create a straw-man argument in order to claim that the author is doing something wrong.

By the way, the last time I checked, there is only one race that is native to planet Earth - the human race. Thus, the OP's author is still dating within his race. To claim that he isn't is an act of racism IMHO.

no straw man is necessary

just differing perceptions of 'wrong'

if one only believes those things that cause obvious/immediate harm are 'wrong',, than no,, no harm done

Im not one who defines 'wrong' so simplistically,,,but I do understand that many others do,, which is why I tried to stick to calling it 'racist' instead

Previously, you denied that racism is absolutely wrong, implying that there are acceptable forms of racism. Apparently, what the OP's author is doing is one of those acceptable forms, because it benefits a black person.

I also call it 'racist' when someone claims that a black man's dating choices are wrong, when clearly his dating choices don't cause any harm, period. That's right - there is no long-term harm caused by the man's choices. So, it is an act of racism to claim that a black man's harmless choices are harmful.

While you two great debaters on race are going around in circles, I am going to interject here. I date within my own race because that is who ATTRACTS me. I don't waste my time or anyone else's by stating this fact in my profile. I find it DISRESPECTFUL when men do not bother to read my profile or choose to ignore my wishes and contact me anyway. It's the same way that gay people are offended when straight men or women write to them expecting a romantic response, or vice versa, straights get offended by gay come ons. RESPECT my choice without judging me and this goes especially for you, Ms. Harmony. You are highly judgemental of others and their choices and cloak your opinions as being intellectually and morally superior. You need to come down your high horse and morally judgemental scale and get with reality. This is what we LIKE and it's not you. That doesn't mean the person is evil, wrong or self-hating.

You're just ticked off because the dating choice excludes you. That's why you started this whole debate, trying to sound all moral and superior when, in truth, you're just burned up at feeling excluded.

where in the breakdown of the word 'racist' , is harm implied ?

IF a father decides his daughters should do all the domestic work,, would that be 'sexist',, even though not necessarily 'harmful'?

I understand the tendency to make racism a simple and 'wrong' thing,,,and thats fine

I just dont agree with that singular definition of the word,,,,

I hardly care if someone doesnt like me,, seriously. THe dating pool is large enough that no one persons incompatibility is gonna cause me to loose sleep.

However, I didnt start this thread. Someone else ASKED the question , which I assume invites opinions, of which I feel totally free to express. I have 'judgment' because I am human, but that does not mean I am being judgmental.

simply, if one is making a decision BASED UPON race,, its a racist decision. If that offends the senses because of some simplistic idea that racism must be 'right' or 'wrong' ..Im not gonna loose sleep over that either.

But it would be perhaps a better idea, if people just wish for responses from those who will agree with them, that they word the invitation to discuss in a different way...

perhaps

all those who only date specific races,,,holla!,,,

than all the people that support that type of decision making can pat them on the back and not make them feel 'judged'

again, far from the point. I dont exclude people based merely on race, so there are plenty of others who would care less about my race for me to care about someone who wishes to limit their choices on that one criteria,,,

msHarmony, first off - HAPPY NEW YEAR! - secondly, and here I go with that buzz word "perspective" again. I only date Japanese girls so you KNOW when I go to Chicago, I get stink-eye everywhere. At the end of the day, a person is happy with who they are happy with; if it is of the caucasian persuiasion for you, do yo thing and damn everyone that may have a problem with it.

Remember the new addage: You will NEVER be able to please some people any of the time...

no problems

the question was posed 'am I wrong for,,,'

I gave my opinion

thats all

its not possible to be happy with a 'race',, we are happy with a 'person',,,,,I believe anyhow

the minute a person is diminished to just their race, to me, thats racist,,,
