Guess Barry will have to be happy with ruling congress, SCOTUS, and DC....
http://www.examiner.com/article/15-states-including-texas-have-filed-a-petition-to-secede-from-the-united-states-1 Christy and Bloomberg are kissing his a$$ to get taxpayer money to rebuild their states (I pity the people in them), but the Obozo FEMA is denying help from regular people because they can't tax, levy or debit non-profit donations from individuals....so they are NOT allowing them..... for health and safety reasons http://now.msn.com/hard-to-swallow-bloomberg-bans-food-donations-to-homeless-shelters |

Barry has saved the storm ravaged!!!!
Or, is it just media hype to make IT look good? The effects of superstorm Hurricane Sandy will leave at least 30,000 to 40,000 people homeless, according to New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Gov. |

So, an individual can petition for this on behalf of his/her state? I had no idea. It would seem more sensible to require a minimum number of signatures before the petition could be submitted. But what the heck, if they want to do it that way I suppose it doesn't matter.

I would sign that petition!! Even if nothing comes from the petitions, a statement is being made and I like it.

Now 21 states and growing....
I think I read 40,000 signatures are needed to ballotize it to special committee or the state legislatures by a certain date in December. As of 12:46 am, Sunday, signatures obtained by Louisiana 7,358; Texas 3,771; Florida 636; Georgia 475; Alabama 834; North Carolina 792; Kentucky 467; Mississippi 475; Indiana 449; North Dakota 162; Montana 440; Colorado 324; Oregon 328; New Jersey 301 and New York 169. Many more States are expected to follow. http://www.examiner.com/article/15-states-including-texas-have-filed-a-petition-to-secede-from-the-united-states-1 This is the website for the petitions (via Sally_Oh) https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petitions The Texas petition reads as follows: The US continues to suffer economic difficulties stemming from the federal government’s neglect to reform domestic and foreign spending. The citizens of the US suffer from blatant abuses of their rights such as the NDAA, the TSA, etc. Given that the state of Texas maintains a balanced budget and is the 15th largest economy in the world, it is practically feasible for Texas to withdraw from the union, and to do so would protect it’s citizens’ standard of living and re-secure their rights and liberties in accordance with the original ideas and beliefs of our founding fathers which are no longer being reflected by the federal government. Updated petition numbers as at 03:00 am Monday. Louisiana, 12,395; Texas, 15,378; Florida, 4,178; Georgia, 3,416; Alabama, 4,150; North Carolina, 3,927; Kentucky, 3,351; Mississippi, 3,296; Indiana, 3,315; North Dakota, 2,589; Montana, 2,971; Colorado, 3,221; Oregon, 2,798; New Jersey, 2,561 and New York, 2,946 Arkansas 581; South Carolina 2,716; Missouri 2,294; Tennessee 2,787; Michigan 2,573; Oklahoma 38 Total 21 states. |

So, in a nation of 300 million, about 55,000 want to form a new country? Oh what do I care, Civil War, Mark II!! Let the shooting begin!!! It's about time we let the Republican right take this baby down!!! That's a pretty narrow minded assessment of the reality since it's not about party, but rather about the abuse of power and a wish to depart from the gov't control grid we are living under! If it takes a Republican, athiest, Jew, an alien or god himself to restore our rights under the constitution, more power to them! The founding fathers saw the possibility of this need and made it a "right" to oppose gov't in such cases, even to form militias to ensure at least some protection from an out of control gov't. They want to limit our speech (1st amendment right), take away our guns (2nd amendment right), tell the states what they can or can't do (10th amendment right), and along with the NDAA and the Patriot Act let's add the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th as well. It may take a revolution to repair the damage, but let's hope not! Maybe you don't care or know enough about our rights or freedoms, but some do, and want them back! AmendmentsFurther information: List of amendments to the United States Constitution First Amendment – Establishment Clause, Free Exercise Clause; freedom of speech, of the press, and of assembly; right to petition Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. Looks like an insignificant number of people in most of those states wants to secede. Most likely extreme right wingers. Good luck with that.

Please note that Texas is the only state with a legal right to secede from the Union . (Reference the Texas-American Annexation Treaty of 1848.)Here is what can happen:
1: Barack Hussein Obama is President of the United States , and Texas secedes from the Union in summer of 2013. 2: George W. Bush will become the President of the Republic of Texas . You might not think that he talks too pretty, but we haven't had another terrorist attack, and the economy was fine until the effects of the Democrats lowering the qualifications for home loans came to roost. So what does Texas have to do to survive as a Republic? 1. NASA is just south of Houston , Texas . We will control the space industry. 2. We refine over 85% of the gasoline in the United States . 3. Defense Industry--we have over 65% of it. The term "Don't mess with Texas ," will take on a whole new meaning. 4. Oil - we can supply all the oil that the Republic of Texas will need for the next 300 years. What will the other states do? Gee, we don't know. Why not ask Obama? 5. Natural Gas - again we have all we need, and it's too bad about those Northern States. John Kerry and Al Gore will have to figure out a way to keep them warm.... 6. Computer Industry - we lead the nation in producing computer chips and communications equipment -small companies like Texas Instruments, Dell Computer, EDS, Raytheon, National Semiconductor,Motorola, Intel, AMD, Atmel, Applied Materials, Ball Microconductor, Dallas Semiconductor, Nortel, Alcatel, etc, etc. The list goes on and on. 7. Medical Care - We have the research centers for cancer research, the best burn centers and the top trauma units in the world, as well as other large health centers. The Houston Medical Center alone employees over 65,000 people. 8. We have enough colleges to keep us getting smarter: University of Texas , Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Texas Christian, Rice, SMU, University of Dallas , University of Houston , Baylor, UNT ( University of North Texas ), Texas Women's University, etc. Ivy grows better in the South anyway. 9. We have an intelligent and energetic work force, and it isn't restricted by a bunch of unions. Here in Texas , it's a Right toWork State and, therefore, it's every man and women for themselves. We just go out and get the job done. And if we don't like the way one company operates, we get a job somewhere else. 10. We have essential control of the paper, plastics, and insurance industries, etc. 11. In case of a foreign invasion, we have the Texas National Guard, the Texas Air National Guard, and several military bases. We don't have an Army, but since everybody down here has at least six rifles and a pile of ammo, we can raise an Army in 24 hours if we need one. If the situation really gets bad, we can always call the Department of Public Safety and ask them to send over the Texas Rangers. 12. We are totally self-sufficient in beef, poultry, hogs, and several types of grain, fruit and vegetables, and let's not forget seafood from the Gulf. Also, everybody down here knows how to cook them so that they taste good. Don't need any food. 13. Three of the ten largest cities in the United States , and twenty- three of the 100 largest cities in the United States , are located inTexas. And Texas also has more land than California , New York , New Jersey , Connecticut , Delaware , Hawaii , Massachusetts , Maryland , Rhode Island and Vermont combined. 14. Trade: Three of the ten largest ports in the United States are located in Texas . 15. We also manufacture cars down here, but we don't need to. You see, nothing rusts in Texas , so our vehicles stay beautiful and run well for decades. This just names a few of the items that will keep the Republic of Texas in good shape. There isn't a thing out there that we need and don't have. Now to the rest of the United States under President Obama: Since you won't have the refineries to get gas for your cars, only President Obama will be able to drive around in his big 5 mpg SUV.The rest of the United States will have to walk or ride bikes. You won't have any TV as the Space Center in Houston will cut off satellite communications. You won't have any natural gas to heat your homes, but since Mr. Obama has predicted global warming, you will not need the gas as long as you survive the 2000 years it will take to get enough heat from Global Warming. Signed, The People of Texas P.S. This is not a threatening letter - just a note to give you something to think about! SLEEP WELL TONIGHT - THE EYES OF TEXAS ARE UPON YOU!! A bit Tongue In Cheek, but there is a lot of truth in it! some interesting stuff here! http://www.google.com/search?q=Texas-American+Annexation+Treaty+of+1848.&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a |

I'm sure it's these same people who are often calling others who disagree with them anti-American. Sorry, not the kind of people I'd take seriously or miss if they left. |

Our province has been trying to secede for decades now.
We Canadians don't joke about that chit no more. |

The Texas secession movement has actually been going on for a while. To the best of my knowledge, Texas is the only state that does not need permission from the federal government to secede. Texas was a nation before being a state and retained that right. Um . . . you can't be serious? Texas joined the Union before the Civil War, so the results of that war would . . . NOT? . . . apply to it? I don't understand this logic. |
|
|
|
This seems to be the legal document confirming the annexation.
https://www.tsl.state.tx.us/ref/abouttx/annexation/4july1845.html I don't see a word in there about secession later. |
|
|
|
Why should states 'need' permission from the Federal government to be independent? All they need to do is to stop paying taxes, and stop taking money form the Federal government and fend for themselves.
I doubt if any of them are willing to do that. |
