In my late teens/early 20's I watched this movie a lot, it was one of those movies that had a big affect on me during that time. A great movie with great dialogue, and quirky characters. Also made me a fan of director Hal Hartley.

It was decent.

really?? I've seriously been hesitating on this one thinking it along the lines of Alien...

No where near as scary(or as good) as Alien, it's an interesting prequel.

thanks for the input Torgo.. I just may give it a try next time out..

Decent "reboot" of Silent Night Deadly Night. Fun spotting the various nods to the original (even a nod to Part 2). Looks like Jamie King is becoming the Queen of horror remakes- My Bloody Valentine, Mother's Day, and now Silent Night.

One of the lesser known "killer Santa" flicks...

The last two films I saw were 'The Hobbit' (excellent) and 'Slow Torture Puke Chamber' (big horror fan by the way, also excellent).

I'm a huge horror fan too, but I just can't get into Lucifer Valentine's stuff.

I got the Vomit Gore Trilogy box set recently as an impulse buy - I was aware people's views on his stuff were totally marmite - but I actually really enjoyed all 3 films and the short film 'A Perfect Child of Satan'. They reminded me of an early David Lynch, but about twice as perverted :P I'm excited to see Black Metal Veins now.

In my early 20's I sought out all of the grossest films I could find, guess I kind of got burned out on them- but if you can find it, you might want to check out 'Squirmfest' from Japan. Japan has definitely made some twisted stuff.

But that's what makes horror great, as there are so many different types of it.

Ha, that's largely what I've been trying to do! (beginning with Cannibal Holocaust and ending God knows where). Obviously a rite of passage for horror fans. I've yet to see the Guinea Pig films, so definitely making my way round to Japanese stuff in the near future. Will check it out.

Yep, I think we all go through it. Mine started with films like Bloodsucking Freaks and Make Them Die Slowly- MTDS also led me to watching all of the Italian Jungle Cannibal flicks I could find, like Cannibal Holocaust(my favorite film score), and Last Cannibal World.

I enjoyed my vacation day today with a chance to watch a movie set in Denmark and Greenland called: Smilla's Sense of Snow.

I read the book about 10 years ago but never knew it had been put on film.

oh yes, and the Socerer's Apprentice
