Topic: I'll chop the wood... | |

The slow burn of the long fuse of my life is about to explode into a whole new adventure. A corner has been turned; a new chapter has begun.
Behind me lay the blue-smoke filled rooms littered with beer cans and unkept promises. Half-written lyrics and unfinished stories pave the highway of where I’ve been, lined by the suicide stripe of good intentions. The soft shoulders of my road thus traveled allowed for easy exits chasing to the center of the maze created somewhere in the aftermath of adolescence. My rush at life being all but directionless, a mapquest of misunderstandings and mayhem from the bull trapped in the china shop of my youth. I used to think growing up sucked. I know better now. I have healed. Physically-modern medicine and replacement parts work wonders! Spiritually-not only is everything connected…I now see the connections. Crayola has no name for this color…neither do I. Emotionally-death is not a great equalizer; it is a great teacher. All the trappings of my past relationships have been let loose, back into the wild nothingness from whence they came. I am coming to this sober, silly, and satisfied that the choices I once made are the foundation of who I am; the choices I have yet to make will allow me to simply be. I am happy. I know how to write a love poem I know how to sing a love song. I dance…no man should go without. I create me everyday. Life is a work of art. Love belongs to nobody There are no property rights. Affection is not currency. Intimacy is non-negotiable. I am laughing. The gut-aching bellow that once was the boy I have become. The strange noises that emerge from somewhere deep in my soul as I stretch not only my body but also my imagination have returned. They are as welcome as you-an old friend I have never met before. I am ready to leave home. I am ready to go home. Leave a light on…I’ll chop the wood. |

Nus, very nice!
The thing about personal continuity is, when you break it all down, it's more about your own perception than it is about the traditional interpretation. You become you on your own schedule. And the you that you become is a different you from the you that you will become. The other way is stagnation and corrosion. And that's how it should be.... |

It's an incredible and beautiful thing to be able to turn around and view our lives and see the beauty and the grace as well as the confusion and loss and realize this is the "moment" of change and acceptance of self and then the realization of moving forward into the unknown with such love of self and ready to love another is nothing short of amazing...
This isn't exactly what I want to say but truthfully this piece has affected me so deeply and I can't quite get the words out right |
