this ruling will now put President Kardashian in a box...he'll have to defend a 500 billion dollar tax increase on the American people...and...he will have to explain why he insisted that it wasn't a tax but a fee...now that the Supreme Court...has just ruled that it is indeed a tax...

nope, not really
III
no more than the court has to explain why it calls it a tax,, its a difference in how the bill was perceived,, not a crime nor unusual

the defense of the increase is the 846 billion (and rising) in dollars that healthcare is costing the country , this helps to cover a good portion of it,,

Now what's to stop the government from mandating we buy anything?
And if we don't buy whatever it is they just tax us. This opens a whole new can of worms and gives the government way to much power to control what we have in our lives.

well, they have to show a relevant INTEREST in that something

since healthcare costs are a SIGNIFICANT part of the US BUDGET,, I think this 'something' applies,,,,

That's the point. Healthcare should be 0% of the budget.

I will amend this. Vets and military families are fine with having government support for this.

good luck with that,,,taking healthcare out of the budget,,,

especially with a growingly unhealthy 'american' , fast and satisfied lifestyle,,,

And why should that be the governments problem? If people want to be fat and lazy that is their own personally problem. Seriously do people not even take responsibility for their own health. Americans are fat because they eat too much and exercise too little.

here is why

if the government is OF , FOR , and BY the people, than the peoples needs are going to figure into where the people money is going,,,,

this grand system we have doesnt run on fumes, it takes money like everything else and as a part of the CITIZENRY, to continue enjoying the system we need to sometimes contribute some money to keep it going,, even if we can individually claim that one part or another is not DIRECTLY benefitting us at this specific time,,,

BS, it is not the governments responsibility. Maybe we should all sit at home and do nothing. I will need a home though so government should provide it. I will need food too, a phone, a car, etc. If you are unhealthy because you are overweight it is your own fault. Stop eating junk, go exercise. I work 9 hours a day, commute 2 hours a day, and work out 5 days a week.

Well for one we would no longer be a country if we didn't have a military. The allys would have lost and Japan was bent on taking over the US for our resources. Not to mention all the advanced brought to US by military spending, walkie talkies, jet engines, digital photography, GPS, the internet, LEDs, a space shuttle pump became a miniaturee heart a assist device, sunglasses, water treatment and purification, to bame a few

That's the problem. We have almost 50% of the population paying no federal taxes. So if they don't pay federal taxes why should they ha e a say in where "the people money is going"?

we ARE the government, our money IS the budget

yes, I dont mind putting aside something in the budget for those things we dont usually believe will happen to us

like failing health, or losing a job or a home

these things are not 'given' away, nor should they be, but they shoudl be an option in a country this rich for taxpayers to count on IN THE INSTANCE that things out of their control leave them with no RESOURCES for their needs,,,

phones, cars, are not necessities,, noone dies without them

shelter, food, healthcare are in a different category

really?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_without_armed_forces

what DID happen and what WILL Happen are two different things, and assuming what would have happened IF is a subjective guess...

its also pointless what else came from the military unless the claim is it wouldnt happen without the military,, which is another subjective opinion

we can go without a military,, it is a choice,, but its not a choice the MAJORITY have been comfortable with,,,

because these are the types of policies americans get little say in

because , rather than raise the wages for employees to pay into the system,, they decided to give a tax credit to appease them instead, rather than 'burdening' employees

so , yes, there is now more of a burden on the system that was trying to be more efficient by not 'burdening' employees,,,

Companies pay for unemployment, not individuals. Healthcare is not a need. People lived a long time before there were doctors. For your information, they give phones to poor people. Some get cars. I will disagree forever. I shouldn't have to pay for someone else who made bad decisions. They need stuff? Put them to work on a farm, their work can pay for room and board. Then send away the illegals. Two birds 1 stone.

I have no clue where you get your information from,,,when were there ever not 'doctors',,(im not talking about the title, IM talking about those who were charged to look after the ill)?

companies agree to give phones to poor people, the companies who bought the phones,, and?

I know of noo government program that 'gives' free cars

your logic is faulty in assuming that people only hit hard times because of 'bad decisions',,we dont live in a vaccum we are often affected by OTHERS choices to, which we cant always foresee or predict

they do put plenty of people to work who are still impoverished, they are called the 'working poor',,,

its wonderful that you are in the position you are in, but its not wonderful that you assume so much about those who havent had the fate you have had,,,,

One word- REPEAL!!!

Im sure the republicans are planning alot more shenanigans to try and crush the historical decision,,,,

and avoid working on serious CURRENTLY PRESSING issues,,

Enslaving us by FORCING us to buy what we maybe don't want or need, IS a pressing issue! Wake up.

Not that it matters anyway, republican or democrat both work for the same team in the end. Hint hint, it's not for us.

ahh, the beauty of choice

its what they argued against medicare and medicaid for too,,,yet, now we all pay into it and havent been asked to purchase into much else since except car insurance for those driving,,,

if there is a choice, there is no force,,

pay for the medical costs via insurance that guarantees payment to health providers

or

pay a portion to the government budget to help them cover the medical costs that are left over from those who arent paying

buy the food and pay the tax, or dont have the food

the choice is there, regardless of whether they are choices we like or not,,,,noone has to die, noone has to go to jail...its really not a significant imposition..

the thing with healthcare is most people dont truly KNOW that they wont need it,

its like my son not understanding why he should have to buy car insurance if he doesnt 'need' it,,, we dont truly know when we will NEED those things,,,,

First of all, you seriously need a reeducation on what a choice is. Where there is a threat of punishment for not doing one thing over another a true choice does not exist. That should be common sense. A choice means you can either do a or b, depending on which direction you want to take. It can't be a true one if your decision is skewed into one direction. It's really not that hard a concept.

But I suppose I shouldn't be surprised you believe this not to be the case given your other beliefs on choices should I? It's not your forte to actually think......

Secondly, it's called personal responsibility, instead of forcing people to pay insurance they may or may not need, how about EDUCATING them to be ready for the unexpected on their own? No that'd make too much sense wouldn't it?

my education is fine

choice only requires more than one option, which we almost always have

even if some believe choice only happens when all options are desirable,,,

and thinking is what keeps me going round and round on the issue of 'choice' with those who insist it only exists when all choices are the ones they want and none they dont want

but,, such is life

its not personal responsibility when we live in a country (thankfully) when a certain amount of care in emergencies is MANDATED and those costs have to somehow be covered

to live in such a society, isnt free,,,and I dont mind the minimal cost to keep it that way,,

You know nothing about my life.
