Yes and in the english language, many words have many different meanings depending on the context they are used. So keeping the verse(s) in context with all the other's, you can see Jesus was not directly us to directly "hate" anyone. Nothing was written wrong, only your misunderstanding of what is written. COwboy...again and again I stated that Jesus never told anyone to hate....I stated that Jesus instructed those that did hate their family and theirself were the only ones that he would consider as being his disciples and again...if you do not like the word "Hate"....then which word do you recommend be inserted in it's place? so come on ...pick a word....any word No other word is needed in place of "hate". -------------------- 26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. 27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple. --------------------- Or in other words 26. Funches....Everyone gazing into THIS forum is using the internet. Some are here to gain knowledge or to share knowledge; others to misconstrue knowledge or to make fun of it. I, and I hope others, here compare these answers with the scriptures... even though usually a hefty amount of scripture references are given within the article. Just read....funches! Pray for comprehension and faith...God will grant it! Why's it matter where one get's their knowledge? From a website, from a book, vocally, ect? if the biblical information is not directly from the bible or scripture...then it's from the Legions of Satan But that knowledge is directly from the scriptures, only relayed to us from a website. But the knowledge itself comes from the scriptures themselves... what are you talking about? nope..sorry...that knowledge on that website is not directly from the bible...it has been twisted to someone else point of view ....perhaps Satan What part of the post she posted from that site contained stuff that is not in the scriptures? You say there is, please enlighten us. Or are your words just empty words to cause trouble?

honor thy mother and they father,,,,,its one of Gods commandments I dont think 'hate' is used in the context described above as there is no place else where Jesus instructs people to hate others,,,,,and since its a clear commandmnent to honor thy mother and father,,, but whatever floats peoples interpretive boats,,,,this thread convinces me more and more that the bible will reflect what is already in our heart, as will what we take from it,,,, MsHarmony....I'm on Jesus's side on this one....there were no indications in that presented passage that Jesus "instructed" anyone to hate...the passage also didn't make any claims that Jesus teaches "hate".... but in the passage Jesus makes it perfectly clear not to come to him unless you already hate your family and your life .... if you already hate yourself and your family then Jesus isn't violating the Commandment "honor thy Mother and thy Father"...only his Followers are violating that commandment but once you stop hating your life and your family...then Jesus said that you can not be one of his disciples this is an ENGLISH translation of the bible, surely you understand how the interpretation from one language to another can reuire further study into the context as it relates to the original language and time,,,? but if you wish to keep insisting that HATE was the word used thousands of years ago,,,,,have at it,,,,

Now as for jesus going to hell,thats another additional man made story,here we go again with which creed you choose to believe from the story that man created.The story of jesus going to hell is an additional story made up by man.You have the Apostles creed after the bible was written and theres no evidence that any apostles even wrote it. Revelation 20:13 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. Notice no mention of the grave. Only death and hell.

Look at this issue from the opposite point of view.... say our USA money said "in Zeus we trust" or "we trust in a cosmic zombie" or "there is no god" (since having "in god we trust" on our money implies there is a god).... How would you feel ??? I personally feel it is an intellectual insult to free thinkers in the USA that we have to use money that says "in god we trust" on it.

It's already there, why's it matter that it's removed? Again, even if it would have said in Zeus we trust, doesn't matter. It's a piece of paper. That piece of paper isn't even yours. It's property of the United States, and is only a promisary note that you can use.

"Hell" is not the general conception people have of a man with a pitch fork in the center of the Earth raising cain in the world. Hell is the grave. Satan is in hell, because he was kicked out of the paradise and placed in hell, the grave. That is why hell is seen as hot, fire and brimstone, ect. Because what's in the center of the world? Is it not molten lava? Fire and brimstone? Hell is a temporary holding place. Satan was placed there along with other's awaiting judgement. Now as for jesus going to hell,thats another additional man made story,here we go again with which creed you choose to believe from the story that man created.The story of jesus going to hell is an additional story made up by man.You have the Apostles creed after the bible was written and theres no evidence that any apostles even wrote it. Hell was not made for man eg., the grave was not made for man. Man was made eternal, then we fell from the grace of God with our disobedience. Thus bringing death into the world, thus the need of the grave later on. And no mention of hell, the grave being originally created in Genesis. huh? "Hell" is not the general conception people have of a man with a pitch fork in the center of the Earth raising cain in the world. Hell is the grave. If they were their for doing wrong, would they not have already been judged?

Cowboy the bible is like all the other religions before the Abrahamic religion,it's stories of natural disasters and cosmic events that are over exaggerated and done by their God or gods because there was no scientific explanation back then.Abrahamic religion follows the same path as ancient mythology.The next religion will be we are offsprings from aliens from the planet Xanadu.I just refuse to put my faith in what i know to be myth,God.
