I am working on an article on Black vs. White Magic. What do you think of when you hear these terms? What do you think these spells would consist of and do you believe there are consequences to either type of magic?

Black magic I would think would be putting bad spells on people and white magic would be putting spells on good people, I don't know, I don't do the witchcraft thing, however I do like reading about the Wicca stuff, and the pictures are interesting, so blessed be and now I need to get my broomstick:angel:

Thanks, Christine. I think that's what most people think of. Hurting vs. helping someone. But I have also heard people use the term "dark" or "black" magic for spells invoking demonic forces. I don't personally believe in white or black magic, but that's what I'll be writing the article about.

In the mean time, let's grab our broomstIcks and I'll race you to the gingerbread house.

My understanding is that magick is a tool, it can be used for good or evil. It's the intent of the user that makes magick white or dark, not the magick itself.

don't forget the different Toxins and Venoms used to give that Mumbo-Jumbo clout!
The rest is in the Mind of the recipient of the "Curse" or "Blessing"!

I just went back to a site I used to use because I knew it had a category of "black magic".

While the site is still very intense, here is what the author now has up under the "black magic".

http://www.spellsandmagic.com/blackmagic.html

This was not his opinion a few years back. I wonder what changed his mind.

There is no black or white magick, in reality there is just the will of the magician

There's no difference between the two as far as I'm concerned, it's all forbidden to me. I think magic is something beyond us that we ought not mess with.

I understand that it's forbidden to you. I'm assuming because of religious reasons and that's cool. But, then you said it's something we shouldn't mess with. Does that mean you wouldn't use it even if your faith allowed it?

What about magicians who summon spirits or demons in order to make them do their will? (I don't call this black magick, I just call it insane, but that's just me)

I've dabbled in it myself, so it's both from my own experience and religious reasons.

Yeah, dabbling can get you in a bit of trouble. It's a good idea to have someone more experienced help you if you're not comfortable with your casting abilities. But, if you dedicate yourself to the study of magick it is not dangerous.

It's kind of like owning a gun. You need some gun care and shooting lessons before you run around carrying a loaded weapon. But, once you've learned and you are practicing regularly, it can help you a lot.

In the time of Kings......the king's socerer was free to work his trade in the open.
or....out in the light....
Others who practiced also.....were shunned and forced to practice in the shadows, out of sight....or.....in the dark.
Thus dark or....black magic.

I think even if it feels safe and like we are in control, we're not and it's still dangerous to be involved with. It's simply something I choose to avoid.

I've always been sensitive spiritually, so maybe that has something to do with it. IDK
