Blood Sacrifices?

Over 20,000 years ago.

The Aboriginals partook in Sacrifices to appease the Gods of the 'New islands'.

They did such in case they were 'violating' sacred ground when they crossed from Asia into the Americas (via Canada).

Some odd years later, the Indians still did rituals and sacrifices, so I believe it is safe to say, they HAD been doing such for centuries long before the white man discovered them, via Columbus.

While you may believe it originated in the Bible, I highly doubt it.

The Indians knew nothing of Christ, Christian Gods, nor the Bible in those days.

Also.:flushed:

The Egyptians did sacrifices, whether via the Bull or Humans.
Sudan, Africa - 5,500 years ago they were doing sacrifices.

So, no, I don't believe the Christian God was the first to demand 'said' sacrifices.

Because basic knowledge of times prior to indicate otherwise.

..just imo.

I didn't say it originated in the Bible. I said I believed it originated from God.

My mistake, you did.

..well, in some form then, yes, but I'm not so sure if it was the Christian God it originated from.

No doubt it's been around long before Christianity, but was still religion based. What religion? That's anybody's guess.

Nobody may ever know exactly when, but according to the Bible, God wanted it. 1 The LORD called to Moses and spoke to him from the tent of meeting. He said, 2 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘When anyone among you brings an offering to the LORD, bring as your offering an animal from either the herd or the flock. (Leviticus 1:1-2)NIV

Jeremiah 7:21-23
New King James Version (NKJV)

21 Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: “Add your burnt offerings to your sacrifices and eat meat. 22 For I did not speak to your fathers, or command them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices. 23 But this is what I commanded them, saying, ‘Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people. And walk in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well with you.’

And Isaiah 1:11

"To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats."

The prophets actually condemm sacrifices numerous times. Keep looking, I bet you find at least 10...

Plus, there's the one line I used to dispell your long list of effed-up "laws". --- Lying pens of the scribes...

And then there's the passage that says not to worship "God" the way the heathens do...

There's tons of verses that go both ways. I never went through the timeline, but I'm guessing that sacrifices were frowned upon after Jesus (the Lamb of God) was killed. Since that was the uber-sacrifice, any others were useless and just a waste of meat.

I read a really interesting article online that talked about this in terms of Christianity and now I can't find it. I'm going to look for it though. But, the basic idea was that blood sacrifice is required for offerings to God and atonement for sins. Most Pagan religions used human sacrifices. God hated this and that is why he forbid Paganism and the worship of other gods. He had the Jews (or I guess they were just called Israelites back then) offer animal sacrifices. God's condemnation of Paganism and Witchcraft was due to the sacrifice of humans, particularly children.

So, ultimately, he sends his son to be the ultimate sacrifice and there is no longer any need for blood sacrifices.

I need to find the article. It explains it much better than I.

Do you really think this came from God.

If you were Moses and liked a fat bit of steak but did not tend the herds (for your importance).

Would you not make a law stating it was upon the highest authority for your subjects to bring meat.

They didn't eat the sacrifice. What form of "sacrifice" would it be if they ate it? That's part of it being a "sacrifice" in the giving up something they like, want, or need.

..that's not what he said Cowboy.

Funny thing is, I'm starting to understand Adventure now. xD

He was implying that:

IF you liked steak, you'd kill something to eat it.

That said. If you were God and liked to eat steak.

Would not have your 'minions' (people) fetch a steak for you?

IE, that's why they 'sacrificed' animals 'for God'.

An example, see. :D

oh lol, sorry for the missunderstanding. But why would go "eat" the sacrifice? God is not of flesh and blood, he has no need to "eat".

The sacrifice was a way of showing, it was a display of trust and love. It was giving up of something THEY needed in payment of the wrongs they did eg., sins.

With this statement, it is insinuating Moses had people "sacrifice" animals as to bring him food in secret, but not allowing the people to know he was just eating the "sacrifices".

Is it so hard to believe that perhaps Moses lied?

Yeshua (Jesus) has openly stated that Moses created the law concerning divorce and that it was never God's idea...

Jeremiah 8:8
New King James Version (NKJV)

8 “How can you say, ‘We are wise,
And the law of the Lord is with us’?
Look, the false pen of the scribe certainly works falsehood.

Did Yeshua not also call Moses' law "your laws" and NOT "God's laws"?

Yes he did, but that is irrelevant because God's laws are our laws.

Is it so hard to believe that perhaps Moses lied?

Nope, the lord instructed it personally.

Leviticus 1

1And the LORD called unto Moses, and spake unto him out of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,

2Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man of you bring an offering unto the LORD, ye shall bring your offering of the cattle, even of the herd, and of the flock

You can't have it both ways. Someone lied...

I highly doubt it was Yeshua and Jeremiah who were the deceivers...
