does anybody in on this site like real racing like roadcourse racing like ALMS, Rolex Series, or F1? when ever i come here to see if people put anything up about motorsports all i see is stuff about circle racing. yeah it is a challenging sport, because there are fewer turns and you are going pretty much a constant speed, but that gets boring watching left turns, what about right turns?

well first of all you must not know anything aabout NASCAR because, they do run road course races. and it is not just left turns. no, it is not all the same speed at every track. i think you should do some reading on the history of the sport before you pass judgement on something you don't really know anything about.

who wants to see cars running around that DON"T beat and BAng on each other? and if they do they fly in to the sky. after all it is a american sport.

I never understood why nascar is so popular, it seems pretty boring to watch a bunch of cars go round and round and round and so on. I would much rather watch paint dry.

I love nascar, Formula one, Indy, and Rolex. You almost have to set up your car perfect to be the best one out there and hopefully not get penalized for it.

As long as you don't call the drivers athletes, I'll listen.

I have to admit that nascar is pretty boring to watch. I'd rather watch almost any other type of motorsport on the planet, even riding lawn mowers.laugh I can appreciate the technical/mechanical aspects but it is just drying paint on fast moving billboards to me.
The only oval track racing I really like is sprint cars. After being involved for 20 years I'm a bit biased though. Any type of racing is a bit boring for me unless I'm directly involved somehow. I just don't like sitting in the stands and not being a part of it.

I can't really get into Nascar either. Sure, the MpH says "200" on the cars but they look like they are putt-putting around the course and theres not really a feel for the speed they are going.

I guess its an acquired taste, like watching golf or baseball.

the ATHLETES WHO drive race cars are just that. being thrown around by the g forces, driving in a hot car on a sun baked track for hours... its just as physical as football, believe it or not.
that being said,
as for NASCAR, THIER MAKING THE SAME MISTAKE NOW THAT open wheel made in the 80s, which is letting in foreign drivers and cars. Indy has lost most of its American audioance because of this, and now NASCAR is letting toyota in. You watch, in a few years it will all be foreign cars and drivers. American rednecks want to watch American drivers driving American steel.
i would say that someone like sincere has never been to a race. You really dont get the same effect on television. You cant smell the hi octane fuel, pull the rubber chunks out of your hair, SMELL THE COOLANT SPEWING AFTER AN ACCIDENT, or feel the cars on TV. There is as much or more feel to a live race as sight and sound. If youve never been there, you havent watched a race yet. When a car goes by, every filling in every tooth in every head in everyone there rattles from the sheer horsepower. Indy is an order of magnitude better in that regard by theway.

NASCAR RULES!!!!!!

If you think it is just about a bunch of left turns for 4hours give or take you are soooooo wrong.

Geeze, besides speed and spatial judgement, etc. There is race strategy from the pits, not to mention the almost-separate sport of pit road action. there is nothing like watching a race looking straight at pit road!!

Yeah that smell. the roar of the engines and the feel and sound of the cars whizing by you is soo exhilerating, it is almost orgasmic. LOL :)

NASCAR: oooh baby baby yeah YES!!!!

Nope, I sure havent done that but there is no way you nor anyone else is going to convince me that nascar drivers are athletes lol. PLEASE! Just because there is some physical discomfort while driving around a race track, that does not make you an athlete. Have you seen what some of the nascar drivers look like? Not exactly athletic:wink:

i gotta chime in here...those of you who dont think that nascar drivers are athletes really dont know or follow the sport at all. so there is no use in arguing with you. as the saying goes, some say nascar isnt a sport, they may be right, it's a way of life.
