I skipped around quickly glancing at a few posts and one thing I thought I would bring up is how much the english language has changed over the years. Many words in the bible, said, for instance, have different meanings altogether today than they did when written. Just one reason why their is so many different versions with different translations.

In this thread I am simply expressing how annoyed I get when I hear people quote God or quote scripture that quotes God by saying:

The Lord said..... blah blah blah.
That's just ridiculous IMHO.

BUT

If they can do it so can I.

From now on I will come back at them with my own quotes from God.

God talks to me too.

Believe it or not.

I'm pretty sure the Bible says that anyone who hears God's true voice would go insane...

Just sayin.....

That proves then, that the people who wrote the Bible were insane. Just read Revelations.

I already know I'm insane.

Its the price you pay for being a channel for the one true God.

Can you show me where even one author claimed to speak directly to God?

And as for taking everything "literally"...

Oh well, I can't help you there.....

Not the author.

All claims about The Lord speaking to someone or "saying" something is mostly hearsay in the Bible.

"And the Lord spoke to Moses ...."

I would ask... who is the Lord, and how do YOU know he spoke to Moses?

duh.

Genesis 6:7
And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

he didn't "say" that which is where the point I brought up earlier comes in..say doesn't mean the same now as it did then...6:7 translation - And the Lord said - Not to the angels, nor to Noah, but within himself, on observing to what a height the sin of man had got, and what a spread it made on the earth

say doesn't mean the same now as it did then.

Now I've heard everything.laugh

That reminds me of what Bill Clinton said:

"That all depends on what the definition of "is" is.laugh

SAY MEANS SAY.

If a person can't be sure what words mean as compared to what they meant then, you may as well throw away the whole book for crap sake.

Its worthless.

You make a good point, which is why a lot of people won't read it. It is not an easy read and their is many versions breaking it down for people who don't understand.

Romans 12:19 (King James Version)

Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

***********************************************

Okay if say and sayeth don't mean say or sayeth what does it mean?

I'm game.

Explain yourself.
