Of course the real reason why we all enjoy fishing is the fun and camaraderie we experience with our friends and family. Some of the best fishing stories have nothing to do with how many fish were caught or what bait or technique was used.

If you have any special techniques for fishing. Photos of your favorite fishing spots, of your proud catch. Please post. Or if you have any stories, of some fishing trips that meant so much to you.

Places where you fish, and types of fish you catch. Looking forward to your post. Or your favorite recipe for cooking your catch.
Your favorite lure.
Your favorite bait.
Fly fishing.
Deep sea.
River fishing.
Etc...

Nice I like catching sharks. They fight hard, and dangerous to land. Plus they are very tasty.

Every April I head over to PA. to meet up with the whole famdamily for the opening day of trout fishing. I usually do not fish, because I am designated worm-putter-oner for the kids. It started out as a retreat for the men ONLY of the family, but over they years as they took sons and then daughters along it ended up being a family thing.

Well the favorite bait varies, dough balls, velveta cheese, stink bait, red wigglers, minnows, maggots or worms. Some of the "pros" in the family try fly fishing but the creek is too narrow and lined with trees. At noon, everyone gathers and brings out what food they brought, usually tons of kielbasi and hot dogs. After we eat the contest of the biggest fish begins. Tape measure and all. Someone puts in a tape of polka songs and the Wild Turkey or shine comes out of hidding. Then it is back to fishing for the kids and die-hards.

I remember one year when my oldest son was 6, we got him a Snoopy fishing pole. He caught the biggest fish on it and won the money. After that some of the ol'timers were offering him 50, 60 and 75 dollars for his 12 dollar pole. LOL He turned down the money because, "What would I fish with if I sold it?"

Another year, when middle child first went, I could not go. I stayed home with the baby. When they got back I took the film to be developed and when I saw my son holding up his first fish, I laughed so hard I could not stop. See he was holding up his fish and his jacket rode up and he forgot to zip up his pants after his last time watering the garden. There he stood with his fish high in the air and his tidy whities blazing to the world. LOL I still giggle.

2 years ago marked the 40th anniversary of the gathering of the trout fishing trip. I was going to introdouce the family to Rick and his boys last April, but he got sick and we did not go. I was heart sick that my family did not get a chance to meet him. Hopefully next April, the boys can go with me and have some fun.

Wow that is grand fishing family tradition. I know they would of love to have Rick fish with your family. It is wonderful to have your son win. Some of the most wonderful family experiences come from fishing trips.

Fresh air, food and playing with worms, what could be better?

I took the boys to a local lake this summer. The older one just had to have the open face reel pole. LOL I swear I spent more time untangling the line than he did fishing.

I can see this brings smiles to your face.

I remember one time fishing with my dad. He was a grand fisherman. We were on a all day fishing boat. He just dropped his line in the water, the reel started spinning so fast. He dropped his drink, pull back on the pole. He started fighting the fish. Then his line went slack, the look of sadness took over his happiness. So he pulled in his line on the reel, just as he was getting to the leader the line pulled hard. My dad went over, as the fish jumped right into the boat. It was a big yellow fin, my mom looked over at the fish. She said that was a good trade. We could not stop laughing all day.

I have not fished in the Bahamas! Caught my sharks off of Baja. They are legal to catch there.

She was half Irish and Half German. She had the very best sense of humor. She loved to go fishing. She caught the biggest fish most of the time.

THREE BLONDES FISHING

Three blondes are sitting by the side of a river holding fishing poles with the lines in the water. A Game Warden comes up behind them, taps them on the shoulder and says, "Excuse me, ladies, I'd like to see your fishing licenses." We don't have any." replied the first blonde.

"Well, if your going to fish, you need fishing licenses." said the Game Warden. "But officer," replied the second blonde, "we aren't fishing. We all have magnets at the end of our lines and we're collecting debris off the bottom of the river."

The Game Warden lifted up all the lines and, sure enough, there were horseshoe magnets tied on the end of each line. "Well, I know of no law against it," said the Game Warden, "take all the debris you want." And with that, the Game Warden left.

As soon as the Game Warden was out of sight, the three blondes started laughing hysterically. "What a dumb Fish Cop," the second blonde said to the other two, "doesn't he know that there are steelhead in this river?!"

FISHING OR SEX?????

Four married guys go fishing. After an hour, the following conversation took place:

First guy: "You have no idea what I had to do to be able to come out fishing this weekend. I had to promise my wife that I will paint every room in the house next weekend.

Second guy: "That's nothing, I had to promise my wife that I'll build her a new deck for the pool.

Third guy: "Man, you both have it easy! I had to promise my wife that I'll remodel the kitchen for her."

They continue to fish when they realized the fourth guy has not said a word. So they asked him. "You haven't said anything about what you had to do to be able to come fishing this weekend. What's the deal?"

Fourth guy: "I just set my alarm for 4:00 AM. When it went off, I shut off the alarm, gave the wife a nudge and said, "Fishing or Sex" and she said, "Wear a sweater."

I like to bait my line, cast out and not move again or talk for 5 or 6 hours. It's my favorite form of meditation.

And if you see the Seashepherd logo on my T-shirt, that was taken once a couple of years ago when I was activily suppoerting the anti-whaling cause., being a whale conservationist, does not preclude me from catching a feed of fish.
