I liked to fish for Ocean Perch, Yellow fin croakers. And the Walleye surf perch.

I miss surf fishing.

My favorite, and only kind of fishing i do anymore, is strictly chasing Salmon, steelhead, and trout using spey rods(double handed fly rods 12-18ft in length), my favorite rod is my G-loomis NRX 14' 9/10 weight with my lamson vanquish fly reel... Nothing beats catching a 37" steelhead after knocking out a 100' cast with a fly rod using traditional spey flies on massive water in less then ideal condition. My favorite river has to be my home waters, the Salmon river, given the fact of that the weather is rather extreme. Temperature spans of -40 in the winter, and nearing 100 in the summer, wading in -5 degree weather for a chance to catch the fish of a life time. Which seems to happen every year whether its a 48" king or a 36" brown trout spey is the way

The biggest Salmon I caught was only 27 inches. It was a fun time landing it.

That's cool tazz, my favorite aspect is fly tying, spending sometimes an hour, just to go and fish a fly... only to lose it is pretty awesome, and well, the thing i love about salmon, and steel is that one day there are hundreds, and the next there are none to be found...

K2. We have land lock Salmon here in Colorado, That are indeed very tasty. This is the time of the year they are in the shallow areas of the lake. This is the only time of the year the fly rod gets any use. Going to go up this Thursday to do some Salmon fishing.

Of course the real reason why we all enjoy fishing is the fun and camaraderie we experience with our friends and family. Some of the best fishing stories have nothing to do with how many fish were caught or what bait or technique was used.

If you have any special techniques for fishing. Photos of your favorite fishing spots, of your proud catch. Please post. Or if you have any stories, of some fishing trips that meant so much to you.

Places where you fish, and types of fish you catch. Looking forward to your post. Or your favorite recipe for cooking your catch.
Your favorite lure.
Your favorite bait.
Fly fishing.
Deep sea.
River fishing.
Etc...

Glad you popped this thread back up taz flowerforyou
Somehow I have missed it.
I don't use any of the knots shown above but mine works perfectly.
I spent the day fishing today myself.
Though, I had no luck at all.
I went to a little lake at one of our parks but so did everyone else.
It was so noisy I left and went down to the Wabash River for a bit.

I used my homemade catfish bait today though I should have used my chartreuse and orange worm instead...LOL

I use corn or wheat flakes
Syrup
Oatmeal
Flour
blood bait
and sometimes I add some shredded cotton balls if it won't stay together.

The fish below I caught on this same mix.
First time I had one bite off a bottom bait.
I believe it was in 2009
and the bass weighed in at 10 pounds

That is one nice fish. I need to get a new camera, the one on the phone works. I need a blue tooth connection. Plus I do not have a Photobucket account.
The fish and game stock this lake, just below Pike's Peak.

I put him back so he could grow some more...lol
I caught him in my ex M-I-L's 7 acre pond, though I did get one a bit bigger than him a couple of years earlier and can't find the picture. That same day I also brought in 4 nice catfish which we cleaned for dinner.
My phone syncs privately with my FB account and then I download them to my laptop and delete from FB. Then I resize and upload to my photobucket. Photobucket is free
I am not sure but I would think they keep these local ponds stocked.
Seems everyone fishes all of them. I know of four or five parks that all have fishing ponds in them here in town. We also have a lot of other places which I will probably hit sooner or later.

That bass looked to me like he be a very nice meal. Any time I have ever tried catfish I caught, it tasted muddy to me. Even after soaking in milk. I do like to prepare farm raised catfish.
Tonight's dinner is going to be trout. My friend took the catfish home with him.
This lake is nice because with my bad hip and leg, I can still get down to the water using the cane.
Not many were at the lake today, I guess they would melt after getting wet. Not me not much sugar here.

Here is a photo of trout and sunfish from photobucket that almost looks very close to my catch for today.

Nice catch.
That is a nice sunfish too.
Will have to see about sharing some more of my fish photos

I think they all taste muddy if caught in the warmer weather.
Early spring or late fall I think they lose that taste.
I usually soak in a salt and garlic water mix before cooking them.

It's good that you can get to the water.
The place I went to today had a spot on one side that has a sidewalk and is handicap accessible right up to fishing spots.
There is another park that has the boards lower on a pier so everyone can fish as well.

Fishing in the rain is usually good.
A lot of people won't fish then I noticed, not me because I know they will usually hit the bait then.

I have used that method before with kind of mix results.

I like this lake because it is a few minutes drive.
Good parking, the runners use the paths around the lake to run.

The city has talked about getting access to the lakes for the wheelchairs.

It was just a little drizzle, the fish were biting.
Just before going I talked with some that were fishing there this last week, with no luck.

Colorado is a great place to go fishing. Some of the mountain lakes have some really large trout.
The warmer lakes down south of here were producing last month.

One of these days I am going to get out there.
I was in Denver last year, laid over for 4 1/2 hours at the airport.
Always wanted to visit Colorado, Montana, & Wyoming since I was a child.
I would love to just up and move to one of those states some day.

I really like it here in Colorado.
The hunting is great, I do not hunt. I do enjoy when others do. I get elk meat from friends.
Before I would hike into the back areas were the fishing is wet and wild.
I have seen the world, Colorado to me has a bit of everywhere.
The mountain lakes have twenty to thirty inch lake trout. Land lock salmon fishing is really good mid summer to early fall.
Some of the lakes have catch and release. So there is always a challenge to hook a big lake fish.

I mostly do catch and release.
Only occasionally do I keep.
I just enjoy fishing.

One of these days...I will make my dreams reality and move...

I fish for food.
The cost of fish in markets have really gotten high in the last few years.
I visited Colorado due to the military. Liked it so much I decided to stay.
I owned a fishing store long ago. I made custom fishing rods.
Lived in southern California for many years. Deep sea fishing was allot of fun.
On lite tackle the trout here can give you a good fight.

I don't eat much fish, though sometimes it is nice to have fresh.
I suppose I could always freeze some for later though.
Oh yes, I use ultra lite poles when fishing for bluegill and crappie.
Makes fishing for them a lot more fun.
If I could find a job that would relocate me to one of those states, I would go in a minute.

This is one of many crappie I caught in 2010 when doing a fishing challenge with my brother.

This was a sunfish taken at the same time for the same reason..lol
(I won that year and he won the following year)

I do like fish. Fresh fish just cooks so nice. The taste is there.
The ultra lite rods are really nice along the lake areas.
The crappie fishing is allot of fun. If they are hitting, I just as soon do that all day.
Instead of sitting and waiting for something to bite.
There are many out of work here. It is tough for people to find jobs in Colorado Right now.
The same for New Mexico.
