I am with you that I don't want to be told what I must do, and I certainly don't like to be threatened or leaned on to do something or to comply with something.

I occasionally do process service and sometimes a Law Firm requests that I send them my SS# or that I fill out a W-9 form for them. At best I have only served one or two papers for them in a year. I don't like doing that for everyone and I usually always require payment in advance for my services.

I got a letter last week from a law firm that wanted me to fill out a W-9 and said that if I did not do this by a certain date,(here comes the consequences) that they "would be forced" to withhold 28% of future payments to me.

I don't like being pushed or threatened. rant rant

Now 'maybe' if they had asked nicely....

But I sent them a letter asking them about this and let them know that I did not appreciate it and that they should probably find someone else to serve their papers.

I also included my charges for mileage for two trips minus the charge for the service because the person was not home, then I subtracted their 28% and they still owe me $58.00. I did not get the person served.

It is the first service I where I failed to get it served. I lost my motivation after having been leaned on.

I wonder if the a-holes will pay me for my mileage.

Jerks.

The welfare system needs to be severely overhauled. There is a difference between those who cannot help themselves and those who will not help themselves. Those who cannot help themselves are bed ridden or through no fault of their own confined to a wheel chair, need a machine to help them communicate and these people I have no heartburn helping. People who will not help themselves feel entitled to money, food on the table and a roof over their head because they have babies to feed. A lot of people have babies to feed and they still work, most welfare recipients like my neighbor are leeches. Because you have kids does not mean you should be supported, quit having kids and take care of yourself. People who support the idea of welfare without drug testing are idiots...including the activist judge who has a perverted view of justice.

Actually the idiots are those who believe they know what it is like to live in someone elses shoes and make judgements that are false because there is no way they can be true at all since they can't live in someone elses shoes.

That said people can't just sit on welfare and have kids anymore. So that is a false belief.

No, the idiots are the ones who think they no better than everyone else and have no qualms using tax payer dollars to support people who will not help themselves.

I hope they do pay, if not, it is definitely not enough to pay a lawyer to get it.

I have to say that I don't really know how the welfare system works anymore, they have changed a lot.

You are probably right that people wacked out on drugs can't fill out the papers anyway.

Its hard enough to get any help as it is. But filling out the paperwork has got to be harder than peeing in a cup. tongue2

Actually we agreed at the beginning, those who think they know better for everyone else and those who judge others without having enough knowledge to do so well are pretty much the same idiots.

There are no humans who cannot help themselves unless they are disabled, mentally or physically. Helping themselves may be applying and receiving welfare to get on their feet.

Since no one on the outside of the family can really state what the family needs, it is pointless for people to believe they know when they can't. Wasted time and just creates unneeded hatred of other humans for no legitimate reason.

There is a food program in our town where you can go and just get a few boxes of food every month.

People in our town grow gardens and if you leave your car windows down, someone might put some zucchini in your car.

Our neighbors are always sharing the food in their garden with others.

Like my picture states, the ultimate result of some rhetoric is to end up blaming the poor.

If you can stop people from feeling empathy towards the poor then you can victimize them however you can talk folks into doing.

Sad state of affairs really.

Who would have figured that assuming that if you are poor you are a druggie wouldn't fly? slaphead

I know they can't help themselves, they have such a prejudice way of thinking that they have to be prejudice all the damn time.

But I sure am glad to see the feds have some sense.

I don't think anyone is assuming that poor people are druggies. Rich people are some of the worst druggies! All that money to burn on cocaine and prostitutes.

I think that having the government issuing mandatory drug tests for the populace is totally unconstitutional.

But is welfare a basic right?

I don't think the government owes anyone welfare. I think welfare is optional.

It makes perfect sense to me to require people to undergo drug tests as a condition for receiving welfare. If you want to exercise your liberty and not be drug tested, you can also exercise your liberty and find another way to make ends meet, aside from welfare.

Said from someone who obviously never needed the help, which is great for those who are like you.

It is still discriminatory to require that you be drug tested simply because you are poor or have a down turn in life.

I am wondering what you think of people that are now having to be drug tested to get and keep a job? This is something that has been going on for a few years.

ITs a collosal waste of money and another way to demonize the down trodden.

This is a dishonest rhetorical technique - painting anyone with a sane, rational point of view as 'being out to demonize' others.

In reality, their drug use rate is no different than the average.

Sure! That doesn't matter!

I don't care how you spend your money. I care how you spend my money.

What is next? are we gonna make sure they arent buying sweets? Make sure they dont smoke? make sure they arent participating in illicit sex?

They can do whatever they want - but not on my dime.

And yes - they should NOT be buying sweets with food stamps.

This one baffles me. Drug testing would be wasteful and singling out people in need.

We could 'single them out' for help.
