Did you have a favorite toy as a child? If so why was it special to you? K loved dolls of all kinds and had tons of them but my favorite was my Raggedy Ann because she had red hair just like me. :) I took her with me every where.

Don't know if it qualifies as a toy, but my grandpa gave me my grandma's necklace when I was in about 4th or 5th grade. I loved it with all my heart. It was green and clear beads (years later found out it was crystal) -- I used to pretend it was diamonds and emeralds, (yes, I had a big imagination) -- but I loved that necklace, and still have it and plan to give it to my granddaughter. Grandma died in 1939 (so it is at least 72 years old now) when dad was 12, and my granddaughter is 11, and she is already cherishing some of my things. So I am already putting her a hope chest together.

I can't remember any as a child as my parents couldn't afford to buy me toys but have one as a keepsake when I turned 14. I still have it to this day as it was my first real crush on a guy and he gave me this baby blue teddy bear that plays "go to sleep" on my 14th birthday. |

I had a stuffed toy dog that I called savage. Can't remember what happened to him...
I still have toys/books that I bought for my 17 yr old (when he was a toddler), that my 5yr old is playing with 12 yrs later. |

I had a p38. It was cool to learn how to use and would fit on a key chain.

When I was real little, dad bought me some of the big metal Tonka trucks. We had fun excavating. Later as I grew up I got into model horses. Still have most of the big plastic ones (anyone remember Fashion Fillies?). I got into collecting Breyer model horses too. Books have always been my mainstay of course, and I still have a lot related to childhood. My Grandmother would send books for Xmas and Bdays, and mom was good at jotting dates in them so I have a bunch dated from 1988-1994. A few stuffed animals are around as well.

My dad threw my Tonka road grader in the fire because he said I was too old to play with it. I still have the burn mark on my right wrist for getting it out of the fire with my hands.

I had my machete and spear and bolas (real ones) for my adventure gear as a kid. I thought it was the coolest. I went out all the time in the creekbeds in the middle of nowhere Texas looking for snakes and just whatever I could find. Some of the best times in my life.

When i was five years old i used to take my two fave cuddly toys 'Miffy The Rabbit', and 'Spot' the dog, everywhere with me. After that i started collecting Polly Pockets. When they were really artistic and could fit in ya pocket :D They look a bit too barbie now. I prefer how they used to look. In their tiny form :)

My microscope, about age 8.
Man, I scooped up everything I could find to stick under it. Bugs, people spit, blood, any critter moving slower than me. |
