Someone tell me why do I need to know all of the dimenions of the tabernacle, and how it was built? Luv2 you are not required to know the dimensions of the tabernacle. But some things that you have read in scriptures have a way of coming to your rememberance at a later time. God's Word has a purpose. He does this. When we read His word, The Holy Spirit applies it to our spirit. We are fed. It is the intricacy of God's Word that astounds us. These are, more often than not, clues to His faithfulness. And later He proves it to us in ways we would have never thought. (You may even have the perfect Word to share with someone who was wondering about the very thing you were just taught.) Just take in what you will and "be [anxious] for nothing." Philippians 4:6 In other words don't worry. Philipians 4 tells us what is best to think about. |

Ok, one more question? Why did they use shittim wood? Why didnt they use good wood? *luv2 runs before CeriseRose spanks her* |

I suggest that you use the resources at Blue Letter Bible. If you want to study a verse, it's often very helpful to read the definitions of the original words. Sometimes the meaning is vastly different from the meaning of the English words. There are also some courses on the Bible that you can listen to and take tests on, it's very cool.
Good luck! |

THank goodness im out of Exodus, it can only get better after that. God Bless You I love you! Sweet, naive luv2roknroll. You haven't gotten to the books of the law yet. I personally found Genesis and Exodus to be quite enjoyable for the most part, the books of the law, I don't know if I can read those. Read "Ruth". It's short and it's my favorite book in the Old Testament. The whole book is the story about a poor widow named Ruth and her love for her Jewish mother-in-law. It's a love story with a happy ending and if you are careful in your reading, you'll find that it's actually a metaphor. |

It's a love story with a happy ending and if you are careful in your reading, you'll find that it's actually a metaphor. There is just so much repetition, of the same verses over, and over, and over, that make me crazy. And they all are about killing, and blood sacrificing, geez! Its like, ok, I get it already. So everytime someone sins, they have to bring an animal to the tabernacle, slay it there, gut it, and slice it, in a particular way, sprinkle blood on Aaron and his sons, and than a chosen one eats it, within a given time frame, and the rest gets burnt for a sweet savor for the Lord. So everytime someone sins, they burn an innocent animal for it. I guess thats why Jesus had to die on the cross, to cover all of our sins, which im still not crazy about that whole idea either. Its kinda like Kleisto said. If you had 2 children, and one of them sinned, would you kill the other, to forgive the first of his sin. I have a hard time grasping the whole concept of that, which is why I am so concerned about UNDERSTANDING the bible. Its really too early, for me to make any judgements though, and I am keeping an open mind. |

So everytime someone sins, they burn an innocent animal for it. The sacrifices were usually consumed by the priests or the family that made the sacrifice, so they weren't going to waste. I guess thats why Jesus had to die on the cross, to cover all of our sins, which im still not crazy about that whole idea either. Its kinda like Kleisto said. If you had 2 children, and one of them sinned, would you kill the other, to forgive the first of his sin. Do you remember how God walked in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve? That was Jesus. The same Jesus who created the universe and Adam and Eve to honor his Father (not father in a literal sense). The Father and the Son have a relationship in which Jesus has consented to give the Father leadership over Him and Jesus in turn was granted leadership over everything else that exists. Judaism has a great many beliefs and traditions that make the relationship between the Father and the Son more understandable. A grown man who loved and trusted another grown man could become the second man's "son". This was done to show great respect and also to become a heir of the second man. "First Born" spoke of priority in importance, not age. That is why Jesus was declared by the Father "The First Born" of creation, even though other humans had been born before Jesus. This was God the Father saying that everything that has been created (which includes all spirits, heaven and the visible universe) belong to Jesus as His inheritance. I have a hard time grasping the whole concept of that, which is why I am so concerned about UNDERSTANDING the bible. Its really too early, for me to make any judgements though, and I am keeping an open mind. It's a complicated topic. Many arguments against the Bible are specious. That is to say, they appear valid on the face, but are actually invalid when you know all of the facts. Any verse that challenges your faith should be thoroughly researched and I think you'll find an answer that satisfies your quest for knowledge. |

back to the tabernacle and the shittim wood. Acacia (shittim) wood doesn't rot or crack. Think of that as how Jesus, though made of flesh, didn't become corrupted by this world. |

This was God the Father saying that everything that has been created (which includes all spirits, heaven and the visible universe) belong to Jesus as His inheritance. Im not sure how that answers the question, I posed. I already understand, and know all that you have said here, but it still doesnt answer the question of why, "God so loved the world, that he gave his only son to die on the cross for our sins". He loved the world more than his son? How does an innocent, and perfect man, being put to death, and shedding his blood, in the worse, and most painful way, at that time, (I know, only people thought of as lowly, at that time, were crucified), cover the next generations sins? The only way I can possibly start to grasp it in my mind, is that Jesus rose from the dead. That he lived again. But its still brutal,(in my mind), and unjust, to kill the innocent, to forgive the guilty. [Back to the tabernacle and the shittim wood.

I was just taking a comedy break about the wood, but that is an interesting fact, thank you.

I have once again, started to try to read, the entire bible. Right now im in Genesis, and its already getting hard for me to understand. Is there a place, that would be a better starting place, for me? Is it necessary that I read about who had kids, how many they had, when they died, when their kids died, ect.... If I may suggest...pray to God to open your eyes and heart to His Word. Ask Him to reveal to you what He is saying in the Bible. Try to do a chapter a day- in most cases it is not a lot of time. Baby steps... And find a good study bible (MacArthur is nice). It is so nice to have someone else do the leg work of going back and forth referencing scripture. Reading genealogy is more interesting when you recognize the key players in prophecy, and it is so amazing to see God's hand from the beginning to the birth of Jesus. I have read through the whole bible from start to finish 3 times, and it gets more interesting each time I read it. I am reading Samuel now...really good stuff! Mae |

I have ADHD, so its hard for me to read alot, so I have been listening to the bible,, at www.audiobible.com, King James Version, and it talks with all of the, thee's, and thou's, and thou'st, I think, you know what I mean.
Can someone tell me, where I can listen to the bible online, and read along with it, like I have been doing, but its read to me, in a language, I can understand more. I guess I mean, in "lay mans terms". It hasent been a problem, till now, but now, there are things im not understanding, because of the words that are being said, that I am unfamiliar with, and dont want to have to, look ALL of them up, all the time. Thank you, God Bless |

Doesn't audiobible.com have different Versions of
the bible that you can click on, Luv?? Check to see..I believe they do....see if they have the NIV.... If they do, You can also click back and forth between the different versions, to do a comparitive study of the Word.....some people are able to gain a deeper understanding of the Word this way.... This basically is what I sometimes do...it's a good way to do a thorough study of the Word...although I PREFER the KJV ... I love the thees and thous.... |

Yes, you love them, because you are a more seasoned Christian, and understand them better. Although I will admit, they do sound really pretty. Love you! |
