Ok, Why is it that in Genisus 19:26 But Lots wife looked back, and she was a pillar of salt. What was the reasoning, or significance, for her to be turned into a pillar of salt, when she looked back? JUst to see if she would obey? And why would he kill her, if she disobeyed him? Is that what God did, at that time? Wipe our entire nations, and kill people, if they sinned, or disobeyed him? Please explain. 1. The reason is that the wages of sin is death ( Rom 6:23) 2. The significance is that , for every disobedence there is punishment. 3. He does not want to kill her and for this the angel laid hold his hand upon their hand;the LORD being merciful unto him ( Genesis 19:16) |

Third Day’s – Born Again Song lyrics
Verse 1 Today I found myself, After searching all these years, And the man that I saw, He wasn’t at all who I’d thought He’d be, I was lost when You found me here, And I was broken beyond repair, Then You came along and sang Your song over me Chorus 1 It feels like I’m born again It feels like I’m living For the very first time For the very first time, In my life Verse 2 Make a promise to me now, Reassure my heart somehow, That the love that I feel, is so much more real than anything I’ve a feeling in my soul, And I pray that I’m not wrong, That the life I have now, It is only the beginning Chorus 2 It feels like I’m born again It feels like I’m living For the very first time For the very first time It feels like I’m breathing It feels like I’m moving For the very first time For the very first time Bridge I wasn’t looking for something that was more, Than what I had yesterday, Then You came to me, Then You gave to me, Life and a love that I’ve never known, That I’ve never felt before Final Chorus It feels like I’m born again It feels like I’m living For the very first time I’m living for the first time It feels like I’m breathing It feels like I’m moving For the very first time I’m living for the first time, In my life …Born again by third day. |

I have once again, started to try to read, the entire bible. Right now im in Genesis, and its already getting hard for me to understand. Is there a place, that would be a better starting place, for me? Is it necessary that I read about who had kids, how many they had, when they died, when their kids died, ect.... I have a VERY SHORT attenion span, and have recently devoted my Sunday afternoons, to reading the bible. But its really hard for me to stay with it, when its all so confusing. All the names, this kid, that kids kids, when they all died....its not only confusing...its really boring. NOT GOOD! I want to keep my promise, to read the bible, on Sunday afternoons, but im already finding it difficult. What do you suggest? God bless you! At a time when many are abandoning the truths of the Bible... here is a woman who is seeking it's truths, its instructions for her life. Here is proof that the Spirit of God is still at work. The Lord God Almighty is drawing you, luv2. I personally applaud you for hastening to his call. This is a most awesome time in your life. But you are at a crossroads in your life and your soul is a battleground at this very moment. False teachers will see you as a prime target. A seed has been planted in you by the Spirit of God. The enemy will and has tried to take it away. (Read Luke chapter 8 concerning the seed that is sown.) Please read this: {In a very real sense, the book of Genesis is the most important book in the world, for it is the foundation upon which all the other sixty-five books of God’s written Word have been based. When Jesus Christ, after His resurrection, gave a key Bible study to His disciples on the way to Emmaus, He began with Genesis! “Beginning at Moses(Book of Genesis) and all the prophets, He expounded unto them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself” (Luke 24:27). We would do well to follow His example. If we want to understand the New Testament, we first need to understand Genesis; the New Testament contains at least two hundred direct quotations or clear allusions to events described in Genesis –more than from any other book in the Old Testament. All the great doctrines of Christianity– sin, atonement, grace, redemption, faith, justification, salvation, and many others– are first encountered in Genesis. The greatest doctrine of all– the special creation of all things by the eternal, self-existent God– is revealed in the very first chapter of Genesis, the foundation of all foundations. This excerpt was taken from "Institute for Creation Research website" http://www.icr.org/books/defenders/1/ } God Bless you!!! Keep the faith!!! In Christ, CeriseRose |

In Christ, CeriseRose In sum, we can be absolutely confident that the events described in Genesis are not merely ancient legends or religious allegories, but the actual eyewitness accounts of the places, events and people of those early days of earth history, written by men who were there, then transmitted down to Moses, who finally compiled and edited them into a permanent record of those ancient times.
I do understand what you were all telling me, now that I am reading Genesis. It is very important. I just get from it what I can, and dont let all the names, and ages, and all, confuse me. Thank you all for posting on this thread. It gives me a place to ask questions, in my journey of reading the bible, since my new church does not have bible study for a few months. I have to add something else to my Sundays now too, for a month. I am auditioning for the Worship Choir, and its a very demanding audition. I must learn 2, not so easy to sing, 5 minute long, songs,(and im a singer!). I cant imagine anyone going to this audition that is not a seasoned musician. I guess thats the idea, thats what they are looking for. I will also be judged on my stage presence,(which is no problem, I always sing to Jesus with my hands up, and worship him), and I have to fill out a very long and detailed application, asking me everything from my name, to my belief in Jeses, and beyond. So wish me luck. I hope having read the entire bible is not a requirement. I wont know that until I am able to go somewhere and print out the application. (My printer is not working, of course, the enemy is making it harder, jerk) My audition is October 23rd, so I dont have alot of time. |

I decided to read Genesis twice, that way I can really "get it". Im not stupid, but this book is not easy!! Believing and trusting that God created all things and has a plan for mankind is vital. GENESIS The word "genesis" signifies "generation" or "origin" and comes from the Greek translation of Genesis 2:4. It is an appropriate title for the first book of the Bible, which contains the record of the origin of the universe, the human race, family life, nations, sin redemption, etc. The first 11 chapters, which deal with primeval or pre-Patriarchal times, present the antecedents of Hebrew history from Adam to Abraham. The remaining chapters (12 - 50) are concerned with God’s dealings with the Patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and Jacob’s son Joseph, all "fathers" of the people whom God has chosen to carry out His plan for the redemption of mankind. The book closes with these "Chosen People" in Egypt. http://www.holybible.com/resources/KJV_DFND/summary.htm |

Will I find out more about this later, or was it cool for woman to sleep with their fathers back then? |

Ok, so whats with the daughters getting their father drunk and having sex with him? Will I find out more about this later, or was it cool for woman to sleep with their fathers back then? Why did God allow Lot to offer his daughters and why did He allow them to commit incest? Sometimes God gives us His reasons for doing something but not very often. The more we get to know God, the more we understand Him and His reasons for doing things. But, again, this doesn’t always happen. We must be very careful when we ask why God does something and be sure we are not calling into question God Himself, His judgment, His character, and His very nature.
Hmmmmmmmmmm.
So basically God had his reasons, and we are not to question them. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. |

Ok, so whats with the daughters getting their father drunk and having sex with him? Will I find out more about this later, or was it cool for woman to sleep with their fathers back then? It was not cool. This was a bitter disgrace. Genesis 19 29, And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the which Lot dwelt. 30, And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters. 31, And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth: 32, Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father. 33, And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose. 34, And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father. 35, And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose. 36, Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father. 37, And the firstborn bare a son, and called his name Moab: the same is the father of [the Moabites] unto this day. 38, And the younger, she also bare a son, and called his name Benammi: the same is the father of the children of Ammon unto this day.[the Ammonites] ------------------------------------------------------ I appreciate what Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary says about this act. Genesis 19:30-38 30-38 See the peril of security. Lot, who kept chaste in Sodom, and was a mourner for the wickedness of the place, and a witness against it, when in the mountain, alone, and, as he thought, out of the way of temptation, is shamefully overtaken. Let him that thinks he stands high, and stands firm, take heed lest he fall. See the peril of drunkenness; it is not only a great sin itself, but lets in many sins, which bring a lasting wound and dishonour. Many a man does that, when he is drunk, which, when he is sober, he could not think of without horror. See also the peril of temptation, even from relations and friends, whom we love and esteem, and expect kindness from. We must dread a snare, wherever we are, and be always upon our guard. No excuse can be made for the daughters, nor for Lot. Scarcely any account can be given of the affair but this, The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? From the silence of the Scripture concerning Lot henceforward, learn that drunkenness, as it makes men forgetful, so it makes them to be forgotten. |

From the silence of the Scripture concerning Lot henceforward, learn that drunkenness, as it makes men forgetful, so it makes them to be forgotten. thanks brother ,i will only add this that God is a God of one programme, Gen 12:1-4 it was abraham God called meaning God's programme was with Abraham and not Lot but lot but because lot joined him, he also became partaker with abraham in the jorney to canaan according to God's programme for them(because he departed with abraham) and not sodom . GEN 13:1-5 When he was with abraham God bless him also as HE blessed abraham (lession once you attach yourself to God's programme, HE will be programming your life too). GEN 13:10-12 But it was sad that because of wealth Lot forgot they mission, the reason why they left Haran, he choose where to stay considering his wealth not God's programme again. Gen 13:13 Instead of staying with the man with-God's-programme(if you noticed God keep metioning abraham not anybody esle) he now dwelled with sinner where God was not. Gen18:17 ; Gen 19:29 God didn't saved Lot because of what he was but because of abraham . Now when God had saved him he supposed to went back to abraham instead of dwelling in zoar where God is not present. |
