I got a book called, "How to Study the Bible for Yourself", and its very helpful, as in, showing me where to go first, and then next, and so on....

It had me listen to, (I use the audio bible) First John, 7 TIMES IN A ROW!!! And I fully understand why.

Thats basically the root of it all, right there, so if your not down with that, your not going to be going to heaven.

Its about obedience, and of course, faith,

and I can be obedient,

and already fully have faith in my father, and his son.

There are passages in the Bible that are "troubling." When you come to one and the answers given aren't satisfactory, think of me and remember. The flesh is nothing, it is the soul that counts. I only say this because you started this thread, so that is the help I give you with love. It helped me alot reading some of the stories to remember that.

Reading the bible is more about faith and beliefs. Reading it like a history book it doesnt worth much like a piece of history from the past. If u got the whole time in the world to read the whole Bible then u can read the whole Bible. But still i would like to suggest u to start reading from the Newtestament i.e.from matthew onwards. Its easier this way plus u can understand it more clearly. After you finish reading it and strengthenen your basics and faith then start fr proverbs then to genesis.
Well if you got some problems the best way to make you understand it by contacting your own church pastor otherwise your friend online or offline whom you think they r best at it.

Wow luv enjoyed reading some of this thread only read the first and last page. ÷ hope you finish it. It took me year. I got that how to read the bible in a year thing. And u would a chapter of the old a chapter the new an a chapter of pslams or proverbs a day and by the end of the year it was done. Ii've read the new testament several. Times very interesting and with study bibles it makes it even more so. Really glad ur doing this much luv C

Well if u really want to understand the Bible i would love to suggest you to start from Matthew to revelation then onwards you can learn genesis. If u can grasp the meaning in the New testaments then you can surely understand. for example you wont be able to understand the book of levitecus unless you have a proper concept being a daughter of god..Til then keep reading as fellow christian we are all here to help if we got extra time though. I was just thinking about my Luv and this is what I keep in mind when I read the word because it helps me to remember I’m Never alone no matter what is thrown my way… Even when I’m confused about something in the Bible. I’m reading this devotional for now and the prayer on the first page said “Lord Jesus, the fire of my life, be my companion, my guide, my all.” I’m learning that JESUS HAS TO BE AND TO become evermore the center of my life.

Well, its been a while since ive been here,

and its nice to see I was thought of even in my absence.

I have read the bible, and now im gonna read it again. I have alot of conflicting opinions about what I read, and im hoping that if I read it again, God will make more clear what I dont think is right. Its not for me to judge the bible, only God can judge, as he is the only perfect one besides his son. I am still attending church, but not EVERY Sunday like I was before. I hear alot of hypocrisy in the church, and I dont like it. It seems that everyone has "custom fitted" the bible to what THEY want it to be, to make the things that they do acceptable. And honestly, we really DONT KNOW 100% that the bible is true and accurate, and that is where faith, and belief come in.

This much I am certain. There is a God. He loves me, he watches over me, and he hears me when I pray. I love him with all of my heart. He wants me to do good things, and love and treat everyone the way I want to be treated, and that I do. I have soo much personal testimony that proves these things to me. And no matter what I think or feel about the book, or the church, I will always love, respect, honor, and praise God, for all of my life.

I enjoy reading the Bible so I cannot understand anyone saying that it is boring. You say that you have trouble understanding, but do you understand that it is a record of Gods dealings with fallen man. Do you believe that it's a true history?

You could get an ipod version if that would make it easier. I have NKV dramatised, it only cost me $15.

Why are you reading the Bible?

A good prayer from the psalms is... OPEN THOU MINE EYES THAT I MAY SEE WONDEROUS THINGS FROM THY LAW...

The Bible to the child of God is invaluable. It speaks of God and has God speaking to man.

If the Bible is too much though, I would recommend the daily devotional FAITH ALONE consisting of sermons from Martin Luther.

A very practical and well rounded source of good Christian contemplation.
