sorry , that seems a cop out.

'Some' people are alot of things that parents dont especially want to be forced to explain to their children before they are ready to or need to know.

Not to mention, as I said before, its controversial use of the word 'gay' which many dont wish to be used in such a casual manner

just like the word 'retarded'

You're comparing the words gay and retarded? What do they have to do with each other?

usage

retarded
: slow or limited in intellectual or emotional development or academic progress

RETARDED has a legitimate definition which isnt offensive at all, meant to apply to those with ACTUAL development issues

I have seen a commercial lately comparing it to the N word, because its USAGE often is meant to insult people , to talk about those who are developmentally healthy but BEHAVE poorly

LIKEWISE< although GAY has a legitimate unoffensive definition(s)

it is also often used to insult people or demean, to talk about those who are not in fact HOMOSEXUAL or HAPPY but dont behave in the proper gender accurate behavior or to refer to behaviors or events or things which are 'unpopular'

a person READING the statement

'marriage is so gay' , could read that any number of ways and one of those ways is obviously that it could be meant as an INSULT

marriage is so retarded, would be viewed the same way, even if the person wearing it was themself mentally retarded, and supporting the rights of mentally retarded to marry

the wording is too AMBIGOUS to really be necessary in a family environment

THis is not a big deal but they want to make it a big deal and this is why a lot of people oppose gay marrige, because they want to force their crap down everyones throat and when it's not accepted they cause a scene, throw a fit or sue someone.

Do you also not support the Mormons, who REGULARLY 'cram' things down peoples' throats by showing up on private property preaching their version of the Almighty Word of God? Their 'missionaries' regularly show up on peoples' front doorsteps ignoring signs like 'No Solicitations' et cetera. When called on it, they assert 'We're just expressing our free speech rights' and the signs don't apply to them.

The Fundies are even worse-- they'll can get really testy when you tell them you're a non-believer and why, often trying to start nasty arguments with you until told to leave peaceably.

Would you consider THAT as 'throwing a fit'? How about them having children along with them while they do so? Would that qualify, in your opinion, as 'causing a scene'?

And if one were to swear out a complaint about their disorderly conduct and/or trespassing on PRIVATE PROPERTY, how seriously would that be taken?
How long would it be before the person swearing out the complaint be facing reprisals, legal or otherwise?

-Kerry O.

Actually I don't. I verbally tresspass(Tell them they will be arrested for tresspassing if they come back) them when they come to my door.

Does the park clearly state outside the ticket booths what the dress code is? Or what is considered offensive?

I support gay marriage, but incidents like this make me second guess my support. They are trying to shove their beliefs and lifestyle down peoples throats. It is a private business and private property and they can enforce a dress code if they like and for these two to make a big scene well is pathetic and makes me reconsider my support.

Rules like this are in place to make sure people don't get not only offended but to keep the peace. This is a heated subject and wearing a shirt like that especially in Tenn. could cause violence.

It's not just shirts like this that they ban, it's any short or clothing that could be offensive. I guarantee if someone wore a shirt targeting gay and lesbians they same thing would happen to them or someone wearing gang clothing or clothing with profanity on it.

THis is not a big deal but they want to make it a big deal and this is why a lot of people oppose gay marrige, because they want to force their crap down everyones throat and when it's not accepted they cause a scene, throw a fit or sue someone.

You support gay marriage, yet support censoring people's clothing because it may offend someone? What other types of clothing do you think should be banned in case it's offensive?

I support private businesses enforcing a dress policy on private property.

You didn't answer my other question. What other types of clothing do you think should be banned as not to offend anyone?

Anything with profanity, gang related, supporting major political hot button issues etc.

I think personally if there are going to be impressionable children in a park then Adults should take the time to think about that before they get dressed to attend that park... I don't think it has to do with rather they are gay or straight or man or woman it has to do more with having a little respect for others.

This 100%. Those 2 are just giving bad names to other gay people who are nice, respectful, and wouldn't wear something like that to a family park.

It's people like them and Perez Hilton who hurt the Gay Marriage cause.

i think the disrespect comes from after the fact, the whining about it... they know not to wear it there next time, but they want to say they are being discriminated against, when they were not...

Well I guess it depends on how much common sense someone has. I mean to me it just seems obvious that you don't wear a shirt like that to a family park. But yes I guess they could have just not realized it.

Some people just wake up in the morning and take a stupid pill sometimes I think.

Others just want to get a reaction so they can cause a scene or try to file a law suit.

who here really thinks that a shirt that says, "marriage is so gay" is offensive enough to hide our children from it?

i do...i would have spilled something on it, like paint... the whole idea is offensive to me...

Well then don't have a gay marriage but it doesn't give anyone the right to stop others from their life happiness.

Ummmmmm, where have I EVER said I don't support gay marriage? I don't support stupid crap like this that makes me re-think my position on this.

Jeeeeeez, you hear that something is 'so gay' saying ALL the time from kids as young as 10 in schools.

And you can just bet they didn't learn it from a T-shirt. Meanwhile, the people who make tabloid journalism are hacking the cell phone voice mail of crime victims....

Ummmmmm, you know in most plces of employment if you use the word gay at all you will get written up, suspended or even fired.

It is. If it's your property you can tell them to leave if they don't they are tresspassing and if they come back with in six months or a year(depending on the state) they can be arrested again for tresspassing.

So, you DO agree they are 'cramming', right? Otherwise, you wouldn't feel the need to admonish them. That was my point.

Actually, I've found it usually best to leave well enough alone, because you never know how zealous they are-- they might send their spawn around to do vandalize your property or harass your children at school. Just ask people who are very zealous and vocal about being unbelievers.

That's the problem with the self-righteous-- they are often anything but.

Statistics, please? I have not found that to be the case and have NEVER seen that in an employee handbook. If it's not a written policy, if can't be enforced.

We both know the protection of the legal rights of minorities always falls behind that of the wishes of the majority, and sometimes it's just not worth the hassle of making a federal case of the lapses.

Sometimes, all one can do is point out the contradictions and hypocrisy of the Big Mouths. In this instance, the Fundies and their Great Commission, which they claim compels them to endlessly recruit, even as the complain vociferously about imagined instances of the same by groups they don't like. To them, everything belongs to their god and they think that ultimately gives them the moral, if not legal, right, to do as they please without repercussions.

so now , letting kids be 'kids' is some religious ploy of recruitment?

come on now,, can people really find a way to blame RELIGION , everytime they are asked to refrain from doing whatever the heck they feel like?

When it comes to homosexuality, it tends to be the more religious people (not always) who are against it. So, of course, religion is going to come up.

noone asked anyone not to be a homosexual,, this is not what happened

and what if someone were 'asked' not to engage in PDA's?

would that be discriminatory against happy couples?

,,,come on people, seriously

someone was asked to turn inside a shirt that 'may' be offensive in a family environment,,,that has little to nothing to do with RELIGION and everything to do with appropriate surroundings for KIDS<,,,

I guess I should say, those who are offended by a shirt like that tend to be more on the religious side. Again, not always, but many are.

Are religious type shirts banned there? Just curious.
