btw....

This whole thread is ridiculous. Everyone throwing bad names at each other and attacking each other. Is this what our decent society has come to? Good grief.

The OP made a number of errors which inflamed a strong response in
those who oppose a misrepresentation of the sacrifices and nobility
of the Seals and their efforts to rid the world of Osama Bin Laden,
a man who swore to attack our country and who has been responsible
for the deaths of thousands based on religious discrimination.

I said it before and I say it again - here's why:

1. Osama REALLY did it. All the evidence points to him and he was
proud to take responsibility. There are payments, training, videos,
open vows to terrorize the US and of course the rejoicing. No point
in ignoring all of the overwhelming evidence and making claims that
someone else was responsible. Might as well claim that North Dakota
is really Rhode Island in disguise.

laugh

2. The Seals deserve any and all admiration and support we can give
as they risk their lives and make unbelievable sacrifices for this
great country in support of your liberty and right to make these
outlandish and unsupportable comments.

3. It is not assassination to destroy your enemy in warfare. It is
self-preservation. In the case of operation Geronimo these Seals
through their sacrifices and the determination of our leaders and
military everywhere saved countless lives!

In the US and abroad many would certainly have been killed in new
(but now thwarted) Al-Qaida terrorist attacks.

The ranting mac continue but no one is buying the conspiracy BS.
The OP viewpoint will continue to be correctly derided for it's lack
of evidence, mean-spirited attitude towards US heroes, and ignorance
of the very real terrorist threat which people in the US and all
over the world face on a daily basis due to Al-Qaida and other
forms of radical Islam and similar terrorists.

The original post is bound to be viewed here as an incredibly
insensitive post at best. This weird and unjustifiable assertion
that Bin Laden was not responsible will be viewed as an
intellectually deficient argument. Many may find it a weak attempt
to garner attention through being intentionally offensive.

Or answer D) All of the above!

not to mention that OBL took the credit for 9-11 on one of his many, many videos...

er.... no, he didn't.

Propaganda. The actual names he mentioned on the video were completely different from anyone connected with 9-11. It was an old video and it was used to convince people it was about 9-11. It was not.

The media and propaganda tools of today can convince anyone of anything. I am sorry, but this has totally caused me to loose all trust in anything on the news, anything that comes out of any official's mouth.

I'm not saying that once in while they might utter something that has some truth to it, but it ALWAYS has a spin.

Neither am I saying that I believe Osama bin Laden is innocent of any crimes. But he was never convicted of any of them. He was still a suspect no matter how much you are convinced that he was guilty.

He was still a suspect. This was still an assassination, not an arrest. I don't care if he was the devil himself, it is the policy of a sanctioned assassination that I object to. First him, next...... who will be next? If this is an accepted policy.... anyone could be next.

And I don't care to make heroes out of seals who were only following orders. I think the scam to sell cheap coins to gullible Americans wanting heroes is in poor taste.... and that is what this thread is all about.

I saw a cheap late night advertisement selling these coins using 9-11 and the assassination operation to manipulate emotions of people watching in order to make a buck.

Its bad enough that our dimes and nickles are full of copper and our paper money is just an I.O.U worthless piece of paper... now they want to sell a "coin" for $49.00 to commemorate a sanctioned assassination of an accused terrorist who allegedly was responsible for 9-11... when they have admitted that they could not prove this in a court of law.

I feel like I live in a world full of lunatics and morons, seriously.

Why? Perhaps this is a big part of your problem.

Why can you not imagine how the thousands and thousands of Osama Bin
Laden's victims feel? How do you think it would feel to have your
father or mother or aunt or uncle or grandfather or grandmother
or your children slaughtered in an airplane bombing for no reason
except that they did not believe in Osama Bin Laden's view of
extremist Islam?

There are hundreds of millions of people who do sympathize strongly
with these victims.

Why can you not imagine how our military families feel when they
sacrifice years and years of personal contact with their loved
ones serving valiantly in our forces - and then when they manage
to kill the most wanted militant in the world who is trying on
a daily basis to kill Americans - you try to denigrate their
sacrifice and falsely call it an assassination - as if Bin Laden
was some kind of ordinary US citizen rather than the maniacal
leader of Al-Qaida?

Your simple statement speaks volumes. It is the failure of empathy
towards the terrorist victims and the inability to see the injustice
and truth of the 911 attacks which is a big part of your failure to
appreciate why this kind of post is so offensive to so many people.

On top of that......in the days after he denied any involvement. There was even an article somewhere where he claimed we had done it ourselves. Funny he would change his tune so fast no?

http://articles.cnn.com/2001-09-16/us/inv.binladen.denial_1_bin-laden-taliban-supreme-leader-mullah-mohammed-omar?_s=PM:US

This is to say nothing of the fact that he and the US were in cahoots for several years prior to 9-11 occuring.

Maybe the raid into Pakistan was illegal but if it meant catching the leader and figure head of a fanatical and ideological terrorist group then I would say it is forgiveable. The world is too complicated to stick strictly to the rules all the time, as unfortunate as that may be. It was better to kill someone like Bin Laden and dump him quickly anyway lest he be seen as a martyr by potential terrorists. Sometimes the ends do justify the means.

And if Bin Laden really was some innocent victim of western propaganda then why did he claim responsablity for the attacks as well as continue to threaten more acts of violence?

The west are not good guys. Good guys only exsist in movies. The world is not black and white unfortunately, it is all very grey. Some of us are just a lighter shade of grey while others are darker.

(On a side note, that terrorist in Norway is not an islamic extremist, he is in fact a Norwegian right wing christian extremist, who held some strong anti-muslim sentiments)

How do you know that wasn't all made up? How do you know we aren't being played like a fiddle? There's a reason that in the decade since 9-11, not too much has really changed on this front. Think about it.....

So what are you implying? That Bin Laden was innocent? Do you believe 9/11 was an inside job?

There are hundreds if not thousands of victims outside the west who would claim that islamic terrorism is a very real and present danger. Of course we are very unlikely to see an attack as devestating as 9/11 again, we have beefed up security to prevent it (or at least minimise the chances of a repeat atack)

The real world is an uncomfortable place, whether one faces up to reality or takes comfort in conspiracy theories

The world is not run by some insane collection of James Bond villains, governments are simply to incompetent to implement some grand secret scheme

-And another thing: if Bin Laden was unfairly propped up to be some new boogeyman then why kill him? Surely, if he was simply some poor wee pawn in a greater conspiracy plot it would make more sense to leave him alive as some elusive, invisible boogeyman who could strike anywhere at any time? By killing him we have robbed (or at least reduced) his and his followers' ability to invoke terror (at least to an extent. The threats posed by the terrorists did not die with Bin Laden)

Exactly.

Why not just arrest him and put him on trial like any other suspect?

Because then the truth might come out.

Call him guilty and kill him and celebrate.

How sick is that?

Its wrong people. I'm ashamed you don't know that.

Because the Geneva Convention doesn't cover war criminals, they are typically killed on the spot.

No its not forgivable unless someone is sorry. I haven't heard any apology for it. Besides the didn't "catch" him. They assassinated him.

The world is too complicated to stick strictly to the rules all the time, as unfortunate as that may be. It was better to kill someone like Bin Laden and dump him quickly anyway lest he be seen as a martyr by potential terrorists. Sometimes the ends do justify the means.

Poor logic. (Dumping him quickly doesn't change a thing.) A philosophy of "The ends justify the means" as a philosophy, has always been wrong.

What about the other bodies? Did they dump them to? Did anyone in that house survive? Are they still living witnesses? I wonder.

Dumping him quickly was like "hiding the evidence." They knew what they did was wrong. How do we even know it was Obama? Rumor has it that he died years ago.

And if Bin Laden really was some innocent victim of western propaganda then why did he claim responsablity for the attacks as well as continue to threaten more acts of violence?

He didn't. ..Propaganda.

The west are not good guys. Good guys only exsist in movies.

Really? Then why commemorate and make heroes out of assassins?
Why keep pretending we are "the good guys" fighting for freedom, justice and the American way?

The world is not black and white unfortunately, it is all very grey. Some of us are just a lighter shade of grey while others are darker.

I don't claim to be lily white but I draw the line at government sanction of assassination and then bragging about it all over the nasty controlled media.

Poor taste and wrong.

(On a side note, that terrorist in Norway is not an islamic extremist, he is in fact a Norwegian right wing christian extremist, who held some strong anti-muslim sentiments)

Oh, now that they caught the lily white Nazi looking guy sure. But the first thing people said and printed in their papers was that they suspected Al-Qaeda. That's so stupid and so typical. And guess what? People believe that shyte.

I am living in a world run by Lunatics and morons.
