Thats right Marie!!The sodas are a bloat machine. That's why I said drink water. The rubber bands can get the abs burning. You should feel the abs contracting when you excercise. Then the washboard abs will eventually re-appear.

I have a surgical tube attached to the leg of my desk. It has a a handle on it and I just sit and pull on it while I sit here. You would be surprised the difference.
You won't bulk up unless you use heavey weight. Light weight and lots of reps burns calories and builds endurance. I'm anold jock. Learned this through sports and training for track and football!drinker bigsmile

No sodas for me. I gave them up a long time ago. I haven't seen my Dad since I was 9. So I don't know how he is built. When my wife died I pretty much locked my self up in my house for the last couple of years. I just didn't care any more I just wanted to raise my daughter and die after wards. Now I am trying to get my life back. That means losing the weight. I have started eating way smaller portions and eating more veggies and I ride the stationary bike. I tried to walk but my back hurts too much and my butt and my legs start to go numb the bike doesn't cause this. I also hit the heavy bag for 10 mintues or so a day. Hey that gets out a lot of frustration!

Hey I currently really like a slender young Asian cutey who I've been talking to a lot lately.

I know what you mean, I used to think I could only be with women closer to my body type so I should learn to love heavier women, but no matter what I tried I liked the thin, a little curvy ladies. Then I meat Leigh and we've really been hitting it off lately. I hope she is the one, because I'm kinda tired of waiting.

Sorry for the loss of your wife. seems like a lot of widow/widowers gain weight in the begining...
I agree with alot of the advice here..Don't settle for something you don't want, Happiness can't happen then.

Hey bro. Sorry to hear your wife died. Thats a tragic loss. Gaining weight becausse of depression is something that just happens I guess. As to your question, I do not think you are wrong to not be attracted to bigger women. Everyone has a taste and preference.

Just do your best at your own pace. A good woman will come along and accept you for who you are.

didn't know there was rules such as only big men can like big women and vice versa, just like who you like why does it have to be about size?? If you're not attracted to big women then let us big women know that when we approach you but do it with tact and allow us our dignity.

As far as dieting advice, sorry don't have any, other than see your doctor and let him help you choose a course of action thats best for you and your health.

It sounds to me like the disc is limiting your activity so...have you tried going to a chiropractor. They sometimes can manipulate the back and you will walk out of the office feeling great! As we get older you need to alter the food intake like you said you are and also keep in mind that your big meal should be lunch..not dinner any more when possible. After you eat dinner you settle down and then sleep. You are not burning your food! it is then stored as fat.
Being less active and eating the same amount of fuel is like give your car going slower on the same intake of fuel. It's not needed. Just make sure you are getting enough vitamins. Pop a Multi Vitamin once a day and it will fill in the need for it. Iwas told that you should excercise before you eat also because it will call on the fat storage instead of the esy to get stomach storage. Drink lots of water to stay hydrated and stay active. If you can't walk much...that is half the problem. Less activity will make more fat! Get that disc worked on!

I found this on the web:

Bed rest may not be helpful
Traditional advice for treating sciatica recommended complete bed rest. However, recent Australian studies have concluded that lying in bed may offer only minimal improvement, or may even exacerbate the condition. Unless specifically advised by your doctor, remaining active may be the preferred option. Gentle exercises can help. Swimming is particularly useful, as it is not a weight bearing exercise flexibility and strength can be improved without unduly stressing your back. Herniated spinal discs usually heal themselves with time.

Home remedies
Suggestions for managing sciatica include:
Rest
Over-the-counter painkillers
Ice packs
Proper posture
Resting the back by not bending, flexing or lifting heavy weights
Warm baths
Sleeping on a mattress that is neither too soft, nor too hard
Ergonomic furniture, such as chairs with lumbar support
Gentle exercises to strengthen and support the lower back.
Professional treatment options
Sciatica that doesn't resolve itself after a few days needs prompt medical attention. Professional treatment for sciatica includes:
Medication including painkillers and anti-inflammatories
Traction
Manipulative therapies such as chiropractic or osteopathy
Epidural injections that is, medication injected directly into the spine
Chemonucleolysis injection of a special enzyme into the disk
Physiotherapy including electrical stimulation of the back muscles
Alternative therapies including acupuncture
Surgery as a last resort.
Surgery procedures
The operation for sciatica that is caused by a ruptured or 'slipped' disc is called a 'partial discectomy'. Your lower back is initially x-rayed to identify the problem area. Under general anaesthetic, a small cut is made in the back, and the muscles and underlying ligaments are pushed aside. The fragments of the ruptured disc are then removed. Nine out of 10 people experience relief of symptoms following surgery. However, there is a chance of one in 20 that the pain will recommence at a later date.

Where to get help
Your doctor
Chiropractor
Osteopathic practitioner
Acupuncturist
Surgeon.
Things to remember
Sciatica is pain in the buttock and leg, caused by pressure on nerves in the lower back.
Sciatica can be caused by slipped discs, pinched nerves or some forms of arthritis.
Treatment options include rest, painkillers, epidural injections and surgery.

And dont forget this... you have a right to like smaller women, just the same, women have a right to like smaller men. You have your preference, women have theirs as well. Dont just rule out bigger women, like someone else said, give them a try, once you get to know someone of size, you may decide thats what you like.

Good luck.

I just wanted to add that there is a bike that has a tv mounted to the handle bars that has a generator that suppies power to the tv through pedalling the bike. When you stop pedalling the electrity stops to the tv. You can actually lose weight and save on your electric bill at the same time. So you have two motivations in pedalling the bike. The first heart attack I had the doctor said was because of my overweight. Sometimes there can be drawbacks in having gravy jobs. A lot of employers are seeing the benefits of having all of their employees doing warmup exercises before they actually start to work. Even insurance companies and company first aid centers are noticing the difference at these places of work. Even simple stretching exercises; training people to lift right and ergonomic tools are helping much. There is a science to it called ergonomics.

The doctor told me that one can actually strengthen the heart by exercises. He said that I didn't even have to run but simple walking can strengthen the heart. He explained that there is good and bad chloresterol.

I do. After laying on that cold metal table watching that wire go through my heart and trying to strangle the doctor who put the wire in it sure changed my mind on exercise. I walk a lot every day.

If you ever want dieting tips let me know I have tried alomost every diet out there before I found out why I was having a hard time losing weight.. I also worked in a nutrition department for 3 years and learned a lot for the nutritionist and have taken a nutrition class... you have to be very careful on low carb diets like the akin's diet they are not as healthy as it leads people to believe.. it can cause serious damage to your kidneys not to mention all that fat you're eating

Lots of good advice has been given sure you will find them helpful..

But as far as who we like well the things we look for in another is up to each of us but... we must remember just because they are the ones we like that will not always be returned the same way. Yeah since I have gained my weight due to differnt things I as well have noticed the ones that appeal to me no longer do I appeal to them. But I will not change what I like instead we must work within and fix the things that has changed with us.bigsmile

Hmmmmm now let me get this straight!!!

Fat man doesnt like Fat woman

Fat man likes skinny woman

I hear what you are saying......about what you are attracted to but arent you just being a bit hypocritical???

I mean......you are a fat man.....or maybe you really are a skinny man in a fat man's body????

I think you just dissed a lot of women on here and furthermore....your shallowness came through~~!!

Quite possibly an overweight woman....used to be skinny as well...like yourself and maybe just maybe she wanted to be friends with you because, you yourself, are overweight.....and understand!!!! Such is not the case here!!!!

the swimming pool is an excellent suggestion. You can do almost nay exercise int he pool that you can dooutside it, and it is actually better for you. use push ups for an example: stand against the side fo the pool, and hold the rim in both hands. Extend yourself out until you are in the full pushup poisition then pull yourself back in. doin g it like this put suppoort on your back while still working the upper body.
You can do a variation of the situp as well, by getting a bar to hang onto and bringing your legs up to your chest while int he water. And again you will have the supoort around you at all times.

Wise ass monkey says: Anyone who discriminates based solely on appearance isn't worth the consideration let alone the time and effort of a quality man or woman.
