Where else but the country can you jump on the quads and wheel over to the next town down the highway?
A friend and I did this evening. We went to the hotel(dive) in the next town east and had a few beers and hung out with the locals. Listened to a 90 some odd year old man play "Don't Take My Sunshine Away" and a few Englebert Humperdink tunes on his Dolcimer, met a guy named "Tractor", watched a few of the local kids rip up and down main street on their dirtbikes and listened to talk about farming and Aunt Neddy's drinking problem.
We ran into a group of older gentlemen that we had met a few years ago at the tiny airport that were out with their gliders earlier in the day. I haven't seen them since my buddy and I were at the open house they had when we went up for a flight.
Watched two dogs humping right outside the window.
Then we went for a ride through the bush, a few fields and creeks back to my friends house. Got eaten alive by mosquitos and BBq'd a couple of steaks and a had a few more beers.
All in all a lovely country evening.

well i think its obvious what i prefer and i love the country life.... love goin out and ridin my horse or jumpin on the 4whlr and headin out to the forest or campin under the stars... and bein a huge animal lover bein in the country you learn to appreciate the simple things in life and what is really important in life......... nothing beats the smell of the country like when u go out to feed your horse in the morning and you just rest your head on his neck and the smell of him is so sweet and lookin out over the land at the fog settlin in and knowin how to entertain without spendin money or being materialistic.... to each his own, lived in the city for a very short time and hated every minute of it. so impersonal been in the country since i was a baby and will die in the country drinker drinker

Want to know wat funny is this morning . I let the My dog out. I have a few new bunches of baby birds in my yard. This mockin bird keeps diving on my dog . Its so funny. My dog just looks up like wat wrong with that crazy bird. I know its a instinct to protect her nest, but if it dont make you laugh you cant.I can see the babies open mouths waitin to be fed.
Looking outside while cleaning up breakfest there are several rabbits eating the grass in the yard.I went out to feed this morning and a doe was grazing she had two fawns.Just a few things I like about mornigs in the country.

I have spent most of my adult life living in the country. I LOVE IT!!! I have lived 'in town' for the last year in an apartment. I HATE IT!!! In the country I was on 12 acres...SPACE, FRESH AIR, PEACE AND QUIET, WILDLIFE. I miss the 4 hrs. I spent on the mower everyweek mowing 2 acres of lawn and spending the entire weekend of the tractor in 10 acres of pasture. I miss looking out a window and seeing my horses run through the pastures. **SIGH** I am determined to have that life again some day!

Hiya Grey!
I get that manure smell once in a while when there's an easterly wind. My buddy Adrien's farm is right on the outskirts of town about a half mile from me. It's not bad except for in the spring when everything melts, then it can be a bit overwhelming!laugh
