Topic: How important is religious preference? | |

when considering a date, does the religious preference play a major part in it?

It definitely matters to me. I can't have a relationship with someone who doesn't have the same morals, principles and beliefs that I do. My "religion" is very much a part of who I am and if I can't share that with the person I'm in a relationship with, then it's not going to work.

Not at all. Personaly I just don;t get why it matters to people.

I guess if religion isn't important to you, in your own personal life, then the religion of the person you are dating shouldn't matter to you. But, for some people, religion is an important part of life and therefore, it should be important when considering someone to date.

to me, religion is a personal thing. It is what I beleive and realy don't expect to be with someone who follows it.
Now, if someone who wanted to date me throws their religion down my throat... sorry... Faith in what you beleive in is a good thing, but being a zealot about it is not. I find that limiting yourself by religion to be no differant than any other way of discrimination. Now as far as dating, i can kinda understand that. But I have lost friends over religion. |

Not as long as they don't have a problem with mine I will respect there's the same way.

As far as religion goes, I never been very religions and hardy went to chuch and when I did when I was younger I always got sick, just something I was told and that's why my family never went.
But that doesn't mean I don't belive in god and don't pray etc. I guess every body has there own way and belives in and out etc. If my date at that time is so religions then maybe it wouldn't work out but I would hope that wouldn't be the case. I can't think that would stand in the way of true love and what not. But one never knows. |

Religion should never be an issue with friends, but someone you're going to date is different. If you're seriously considering building a lasting union with someone, to me, I can't imagine not being able to base that union on our shared religion.

It doesn't matter to me as long as they don't try to convert me...I respect anothers beliefs as long as they respect mine!!!!!!!

Considering I worship at the shrine of SheNatra the all powerful She Monkey Goddess every day and dance naked around her boudoir every full moon, pretty darn important. Or maybe not...

Their religion is their choice and my religion is my choice.

It is important but not really all that important.
