I thought I did, until those same men wanted to control every aspect of my life right down to how I "should" dress. That's when I became independent.
I'm not saying all of them are like that for the men who seem to think saying that would be bashing men. I've just learned to become my own woman, without relying on the opposite sex.

Many women needs to come out of the woodwork really.

Stop with the " I want a long term COMMITMENT" and "I am looking for my soulmate" or "I need someone who will only pay attention to me 24/7".

These are scary things for many men.

Sure...20-30 years ago, it was all about getting married and sailing to the Bahamas and having 2-3 kids in a big family house with a dog and making sandwiches to guys who were watching baseball on TV.

This isn't the same age.

We are in a f-kd up society, where things don't work the same way, your "hubby" is checking out your best friend's boob shots on facebook when you aren't looking, or having a giant porn collection downloaded on his computer, where he gets his ideas what to try out on you at night.

Not to mention the economy and unemployment and how women are afraid to get a guy, because he may acts like a parasite or vice versa, so let's drop this sugar coated BS about "meaningful" relationships and your "exclusive one-way ticket" guy you are looking for.

I can almost guarantee, that girls who would say "hey I'm a single girl and I'm looking for guy who is gonna stay with me for a while and makes me sweat at night, but also makes me feel good, but otherwise leave me to be" - would get 1000 times more views than some politically correct " I am looking for a bright shinning knight who will save me from the dragons" -kinda garbage, which only scares men more than women claiming to be mystically empowered ghost hunter fairies. laugh drinker

thanks for the advice....updating profile bigsmile laugh

adding...bonus points for men willing to wear armor & pretend to save me from dragons @ night drool smitten

as cliche as it is, I Want to be HELPED, not quite as extreme as being SAVED

I want to feel safe, loved, and (emotionally) supported

I Can get all these things from myself, but it doesnt hurt for someone else to help me with them,,,

The last thing I want is a guy who thinks he needs to save women. And last I checked, I don't need someone to take care of me, either.

I'd much rather find someone I enjoy being around and spending time with, rather than someone who feels the need to take care of me as if I'm unable to do anything without him.

Instead of telling others not to want commitment, why not just be upfront about not wanting to commit? Wouldn't that be easier? That way you're being honest about what you're not looking for without trying to tell others what not to do.

by a man or do we just like the idea?
50 and long time single myself, I can't imagine
giving up my independence.
I really think we just like the idea that someone
would actually be willing to 'save' and take care'
of us, not really ever do it.

Ideas are great, they can change...When you start believing some things, you might run into a bit of a ****in' issue.

Not speaking for me either. Im looking for a woman to save. I know plenty who need saving and am tired of them not admiting it and going around acting all high and mighty like they don't need anyone. Both women who left me saying "I don't need to be saved" turned out a year later to have gained 100 lbs, completly out of shape, have 3 underparented children, and in debt up to thier eyeballs. Men have a part to play in a relationship just as women do.

Since you actually admitted to wanting to find someone to save, maybe you can let me know what makes you think women want to be saved? What kind of women do you search for so that you can find that one that needs to be saved?

So basically, you're looking for a woman who will tell you what you want to hear, rather than be honest about what she's looking for? Which is just the opposite of what many of us want in a guy. I'd much rather know up front what a guy is looking for, whether it's a relationship, just sex, or just casual dating, rather than him telling me what he thinks I want to hear.

Bravo. Well said. I use to juggle with the ideas of dependent, independent and interdependent. I think there is something to be said about being self-reliant which could be thought of as being independent. Dependent seems like clingy a bit. In all reality though I think interdependent seems to work best. To me it is the barter system. But then sometimes when we are young we may not realize that we might be getting a good deal. Some times the role of being a hero can get you used a lot. And then you may find that there are heroes out there more qualified for the position than you.

Hello NO!...why would I want someone to take away from me, all the glorious moments ahead, all the trials and tribulations...all the joys and delights!

Save me?...Bah!....you know what I desire with all my essence?

A witness.

Smiling and cheering, from the sidelines.

So basically you are looking for someone to confirm your awesomeness?
