Well here it is another week
and no job on the horizonohwell
Months of phone calling , online applictions, resume faxing
and dropping in on potential employers has still
lead to nothing....

I know I'm not alone-
Any others out there having the same problem?

2 months so far...

I have a couple good prospects right now. Preliminary interviews.

Waiting on the follow up... happy

Yup, except you have all the free time you could ever hope for. Sadly, you are wishing you didn't have so much. laugh

The jobs I hate are where they send you to their own website where you have to fill out their job ap and can't use your resume. Cut and Paste, cut and pate, cut and paste. If your lucky 2 hours later, it gets accepted as a valid job application...

I had one it took me two days to fill out. They had me answering questions I have never been asked before. Had to pull out years of paperwork to find all their answers...

Good luck to you all! I know us that have jobs can't take them for granted anymore because everything is so strange these days. I know I was unemployed for 6 months then after my divorce I came up here to Chicago with my stuff and my car..and lived in my car for about a month but I found a great job and now I'm out of that car. But it's a high risk I took getting up here and doing that, esp in such a big city and sleeping at night. Again, good luck and keep my fingers crossed!

You should try it at my age....darn near impossible! Oh I could probably get a job as a servant somewhere, and move to God knows where...and be at the mercy of another spoiled person's whims...I'm getting way to old for that kind of thing.
I'm seriously gonna try working from home, doing my own thing..and that is scary as the devil too!

2 places that are always hiring:

McDonald's and Walmart

Work 'em till you find something better, or... sit on yer *** waiting for that perfect job and watch your unemployment run out.

Food industry and retailers are the #1 hiring places out there right now. Everyone needs to eat and everyone needs toilet paper for cheap.

I just found a job and I know I am fortunate to have it. It is not in my field but it is a good job with a good reputable company. The last interview I had for a job in my field, the interviewer told me they had received 600 resumes for the position!

I am not sure why I didn't get it...1/600 ain't bad odds! laugh

I have not been having much luck getting back into my regular field in Columbus.

If things work out really well where I am now then I'd stay because they are nice to me. Also been thinking about trying to get into OSU for my MBA....might be good for me.

The work place has changed so much. It used to be you stayed when you found a job and worked out any issues with the employer. Now if you say there's an issue they often let you go - unheard of 20 - even 10 years ago.

On the other hand - younger people I notice -interview almost continually and change jobs frequently - also unheard of years ago.

I was unemployed for 7 months, found a temp. job that lasted a couple months, then a few weeks later found a full-time regular job, now after the 89th day the let me go and I'm back to square one.

I had 3 seasonal type jobs before I finally found a regular job. Worked for the 2010 census, then to the schoolbook depository for the summer and hanging christmas lights in the winter with a friend. I finnally landed a tech support job and I've never been so happy to listen to dumb people complain.

its been two years here, had odd jobs for temps in the interim(conventions, elections, nothing more than two weeks)

its craziness , even mcdonalds(contrary to popular belief) look for prospects with EXPERIENCE in their industry,,,my industry is clerical and there is just nothing available in my area but temp jobs with hundreds of applicants per opening,,,I am also seeking jobs from home but most of them are scams requiring some fee

I just keep praying and sending out resumes, I at least was able to complete one degree while I have been unemployed so MAYBE that will help a little.....its really tough

I am one who will NEVER look down upon those who arent working, now that I have been there,,,,,good luck allflowerforyou

I went through that in 2009. I was unemployed for 6 months; sent out over 300 resumes. Found a job that pays $1,000.00 less a month than what I was making but a job is a job. Hope you find something soon. flowerforyou

Good luck to everyone who's seaching for employment with reasonable wages. I've just been release from three months training from this new company I'm now working for after six months of unemployment. Now there's 90 days of probation that I have to go through before I'm able to breath a little better. In the time that I've been at this present job I've seen a least six fellow co-workers leave this company for one reason or the other. Walking on neddles here but wishing all of you Good Luck in your hunt.

Been there. Done that. When I was last unemployed, I joined a social website called Mingle2.

What is the definition of "reasonable wages"?

I just found out that my dept can fund me for the summer...woohoo, been worried about that!

Animal science dept. layed off most of their staff during administrative professionals week and some depts are only funding grad students for fall & spring, money is scarce in every dept!

I need to graduate ASAP!
