All I can say is don't give up.

Heck I finally got out and started hitting business in person, which 95% of those all said you had to apply online first. slaphead

Had to swallow my pride and ask family members to see if they could get me on where they worked...whoa

Good luck to all those looking..........

Well here it is another week
and no job on the horizonohwell
Months of phone calling , online applictions, resume faxing
and dropping in on potential employers has still
lead to nothing....

I know I'm not alone-
Any others out there having the same problem?

You should try it at my age....darn near impossible! Oh I could probably get a job as a servant somewhere, and move to God knows where...and be at the mercy of another spoiled person's whims...I'm getting way to old for that kind of thing.
I'm seriously gonna try working from home, doing my own thing..and that is scary as the devil too!

I don't think so...

It was hard to be unemployed, and more than a full time job to find new work. I moved to Houston. That worked for me, but I know packing up and going was a luxury that not everyone has in terms of options.

Good luck. Seriously! It will happen!

So, I haven't been able to contact unemployment with any of the numbers, and I went down to the office today, but there's no more office anymore, it's all done over the phone, which they don't seem to answer.

I'd make more money right now if I were unemployed I think laugh

Construction is starting to boom again and I'm getting alot of work. I hired 4 new painters in the last week. The only downside now is that more and more clients are sitting on our money. It's beginning to really suck for me.

Getting paid takes as long as 6 to 7 weeks after a months work now it seems. Because of this, my partner and I have to take out a line of credit just to be able to pay my guys at a reasonable time.

It's a great time to work in construction, just a bad time to get paid for it.

I swear, developers need to be the ones to be bonded for the contractors, not the other way around.

I've considered construction, but have no experience in that field. I do have experience as a production worker in manufacturing though.

Try Going on-line to file your unemployment claim that's the way it's done these days in the State in which you live.

Yeah, tried that. I need to talk to someone, but I can't get a hold of anyone, and OneStop only does job searches.

Make a new policy. There are some developers who will totally screw you. Make sure you are protected. You would not loan a large company a lot of money without collateral would you? Neither would a bank.

Don't let people take advantage of you.

Other ideas:

I am not into construction or anything like that but I get paid in advance for my products and services. I do process service, sell tarot cards, and do art work.

For artwork, I charge half up front usually, unless I really know the person well.

Other ideas for self employment is a house keeping company. Don't work for them, work for yourself. Have your own business, charge by the hour. If you work for yourself and contract your work out, you can make as much money as you have the time and energy to go out and look for business.

Be a dog walker, run errands, do childcare. My niece made a good living for years doing child care for working adults. She put herself through school, raised two kids that were not hers, and now works as a teacher at a local trade school in the medical field teaching what she learned about drawing blood and medical terms. She loves teaching, but she get offers for jobs all the time.

The work is there. Keep looking.

The website told me to call a number, but I can't get through on that number, so I got another number today from OneStop, but didn't get through on that one either. I'll try it again tomorrow and see if it doesn't work.
