Topic: Do you think He gives up on people? | |
---|---|
you started this thread in one frame of mind, and now you are in another. you are making you right and you can continue as long as you wish. someone watches over you even when you don't. i wouldn't be surprised to find that someone has been praying for you, and you will be led to where you need to be. listen brother, you are being led, look for the signs He is giving you. your life matters to Him I really hope someone is praying for me. Even for something small. I like to see it that way. It's definitely a mood lifter. |

that's what the mass is for. it's a familiar place, and it doesn't have to be too personal too quickly, blend into the crowd. heck invite someone, that puts you in a position to have to go Or attend a fellowship that would help you feel His mighty presence. Most of all, please open your heart honey and feel His touch. He is so much around you. And I to have often wondered if someone just constantly PLAYS with God as he is surely only fooling himself,,wink,BUT,,I would think God would not look HIS way as much,,as He would KNOW,,he was NOT real with his intententions? |

God was right where I left him. After having a personal experience with God I found drugs and alcohol. It was a quick fix that I tried. Instead of having to pray through like the Doors song called the 'break onto the other side' in their song, 'Light My Fire' I would just smoke a good bowl or down some good Ludes. But after a while paint stripper wouldn't even do it for me. I had a serious problem with a conscious contact with my higher power. Got to the point that in all reality I thought I was God because I couldn't really conceive that anything could be higher than me. Not as high as I stayed. But the program which at one time was based on the book of James in the Bible let me see in the Big Book that I had to make a 180 degree turn. Not only was my moral compass on the fritz but it was backwards. The program calls it 'stinking thinking'. I had to choose God, again instead of the drugs and alcohol because the unconscious contact I had with God just wasn't working. God showed me the beauty of my own insignificance in the program through the third step prayer. Life is just so much easier to live without all that guilt to be burdened with. As Jesus says, "Come my yoke is easy and my burdens light." What a wonderful way to be mellow in the Lord.

I dont believe he ever gives up. I grew up with the story of the man walking along the sand,,,,it sums up what I believe concerning Gods love and support.
One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky. In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there was one only. This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord, “You promised me Lord, that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there has only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?” The Lord replied, “The years when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you.” |

Sometimes I wonder... I was raised Roman Catholic, and my Mother always stressed the importance of how much God loves us all. In recent years I've started to wonder about this. I'm wondering if God gave up on me because of my past. My Mother says God is testing me, and that I have to stay strong. I'm wondering why my test seems to be so hard. I was raised to believe that He will never burden us with more than we can carry, but I don't know how much more I can carry. In the past few months I've strayed from my church... I haven't attended a Mass since November, I just don't have the will to go. Are there any Roman Catholics that have maybe read the Bible a few more times than me that can possibly offer some advice or reassurance? Maybe some motivation? There are so many people who misunderstand where they stand with God, and that's alarming. How many can actually understand man's plight before the Son was given? How many not only believe IN Him , but believe ON Him? Or if they officially confessed Jesus Christ as their ONLY LORD and Savior. ************* 30, .......... Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31, And they said, Believe ON the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. Acts 16:30,31 ************* --->>>Jam_2:19, Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.<<<--- --->>>Rom_10:9, That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.<<<--- ************* 12, But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13, Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. John 1:12,13 ************* 28, Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? 29, Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. John 6:28,29 ************* 35, And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth ON me shall never thirst. 36, But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not. 37, All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. 38, For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. 39, And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I SHOULD LOSE NOTHING, but should raise it up again at the last day. 40, And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth ON him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. 41, The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven. 42, And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven? 43, Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves. 47, Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth ON me hath everlasting life. John 6:35-47 ************* 13, But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. 14, For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; 15, Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; 16, And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: 17, And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. 18, For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. 19, Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; 20, And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, 21, In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: 22, In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit. Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; Ephesians 2:13- |

Hebrews 13:5 says it best.
Do not be afraid. I will NEVER leave you. Also, in Matthew 22:21 (I think), Christ says, "And behold, I will be with you ALWAYS, even until the end of time." Christ never leaves us. Sometimes, He seems far away. But if you are being tested, and pass the test, you come our better on the other side. |

God has already proven that he loves you by Jesus' death on the cross, which has washed your sins away already.

I certainly don't agree with that: God loves you ONLY IF you believe. Sounds to much like a human being's love. God loves all, regardless. That was proven with Jesus' death.

I certainly don't agree with that: God loves you ONLY IF you believe. Sounds to much like a human being's love. God loves all, regardless. That was proven with Jesus' death. 16, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17, For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18, He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19, And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20, For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21, But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. |

Going through a hard time in life is not a sign that God has given up on you. In fact, hard times can and often are used by God to make us turn to Him and realize our complete dependence on Him. Without hard times we would probably never turn to Him.

Exactly. From 1 Corinthians 10: 12-13 "Therefore, let him that think he stands take heed lest he fall." We should never be too confident, or fail to recognize that any successes we have are because of God. If we get too prideful (think we are the cause of our success, God will remind us.) "There is no test taken you but such as is common to man." Whatever you are going through, many others have, as well. Sometimes we think we're the only ones going through our troubles. Here is the key: "But God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tested above that you are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it." God will never leave or forsake you. If He is testing you, He will give you the means to pass your test, and so, you will become stronger because of it. Don't give up! Keep the faith, and you will prevail! |
