Average teachers salary... 40 thousand.

Average income nation wide. 30 thousand. Yep teachers are so underpaid... NOT.

You are right this is a national problem. It goes way beyond the simple changes trying to be made in Wisconsin.

Cuts of budgetary spending are necessary or the states will become insolvent. We can not allow our states to become insolvent so the Federal Government will have to assume their debt... This will cause the Federal Government to become insolvent... simple math.

If these cuts are not made the alternative will be to start releasing workers to unemployeement... (causing a swelling of that drain and we are right back to the insolvency above).

Economists are responding to this situation as though they are dealing with a recession or depression... This is neither.

You can not increase the money supply as has been done in the past because in the past they were dealing with an expandable system... Now however they are dealing with a global system (which means it is now a closed cycle system... there is no expansion possible). Increasing the money supply in a closed cycle system will simply decrease the worth of the entire system.

FACT CHECK THAT.

Yea and we are borrowing money from Communists. China being out biggests debtor to i believe. and now we are starting to act like thier societies.

i do not want that. and teachers are underpaid at 40k. in the outside world of public education they would make twice that at alot of proffessions. no wonder our kids are not keeping up. alot of people skip being a public scholl teacher because of how much they can make else where. Teachers deserve our respect and our support

And you think that this is where average wages are supposed to be. These uber-capitalists will not be happy until we are all willing to work for $2.30 an hour, and even then, they will complain about how much we make.

China is in the same boat we are they are simply not as far along.

This is a global economy. A spherical closed cycle system. The old methods of dealing with cyclical flow of resources will not work because there are no 'unexplored' markets. Expanding the output by application of war methods will not work because such efforts will cause a ripple around the sphere that will return to the source. A new economic model needs to be developed that fits within a spherical environment.

Before that can happen THIS model needs to be stablized. Stablizing it will require some very tough choices. Some ADULT choices.

Yea teachers get 40k with summers off. How many professionals get summers off? They also have extended vacations for spring break, thanksgiving, christmas, etc. How many professionals can boast that much vacation time?

You got that right. NAFTA is the ruin of America. Personally, I'm kinda patriotic. Guess that may be obsolete.

I agree. Like fighting for the low and middle class income and making the rich pay thier tax liabilities instead of the same ole same ole. Give to the Rich and they will help the poor.

Well Reaganomics is a Dead Horse thats trying to be sold to us as a Prize Race Horse

Like we have given the rich around 2 Trillion in the last 3 years alone. How many states could of used that money?

Nonsense...

This is the average wage (by ability to purchase) that has ALLWAYS existed.

When the 'average wage' was 50cents an hour it bought the same (per hour of work) products as the average wage does now. Money is still worth what money is worth. Value of products purchased with inflated money is inflated at the same rate as is the money.

Money is money.

Uber-capitalists is a propaganda word.

If the CEO of a corporation is living in a communist country and following comunistic values that CEO would STILL be making more (by ability to purchase) then the assembly line worker...

Does not matter if the corporation is CAPITALIST or SOCIALIST or COMMUNIST...

It is still a corporation.

Not a good analogy. You are not taking into account what goes into the car now. New features, increase costs of production, new safety standards that increase costs, new luxuries, etc.

So.. thier should be a LIVING wage. I would say most people would say 11.50 an hr is barely a living wage.

Ah but you see there are 'clamping' industries on the purchase of a car now that have artificially changed the 'value' of that vehicle. The government has added 'required' safety features not present in 1976. Financial companies that 'control' the purchase of a vehicle have added to its purchase price by interposeing 'loan' values on the dealers that sell them. Unions have added 'costs' to the purchase price at the point of build of the components, point of build of the vehicle and point of assembly.

and finally 'loan agents' have added percentages to the purchase price so that the 'payments' would allow them a guaranteed 'residual' income stretched over a certian time period (usually 3 to 5 years).

Well that depends where you live. Also not all jobs should have to pay a wage to support a family. I mean $11.50 an hr is way to much to be paying someone working a drive thru. There are lots of jobs that target young people like fast food, video stores, arcades, etc that wouldn't survive having to pay their employees that much.

I think comparing teacher salary to average salary is a bit misleading because it leaves out the difference between those with degrees and those without and what level of degree as well as how LONG one has been at a job,,,too many variables for it to truly be a one-to-one comparison

Yea, do the math. What is minimum wage now? like $7. You up it to $11.50 then what? You think people have more buying power? No you just increased the cost of every industry that now pays minimum wage. Those industries are now forced to raise their prices accordingly. Now that $6 meal you used to buy at the drive thru will run you maybe $10. Well for that you could buy a burger at a sit down place. Their prices won't change due to the fact waiters and waitresses make tips and are exempt from minimum wage. Thus the fast food industry loses business due to people not wanting to pay those higher prices and they get shut down. Same could be said for any industry like that.

Not to mention the relative drops in buying power for everyone making over minimum wage. The closer you make to that $11.50 the more you will be affected by the lowering value of the dollar.

good point. This is one of the major reasons MDs use to justify the money they make. good enough for Doctors, but not good enough for teachers.

individuals/employees are asked to buckle down and spend less when times get rough, but EMPLOYEES/CORPORATIONS are never expected to do with less,,,,,

funny thing that, if it werent so lopsided and sad
