My presumption is that men ask women out and 'treat her like a lady' because women will never have equal access to the same high power high paying jobs as men.

Women continue to make less money in the same positions even today, likely because they are the gender that will leave to raise the children. Its a balancing act.

Typically, the 'treat em like a lady' bit comes in when a man wants to select a mother for his children. If the woman accepts that she will sacrifice the ability to have equal earning potential, she will have to ensure respect in her life coming from another venue. That is where the expectations come into play.

People who dont want children likely get poo poo-ed in this situation.

not once in my entire life have i ever thought about treating a woman with respect because she can't get a high paying job.

wow...the genders do see things very differently.

Where does it say, 'cant'? ohwell skimmer.

it doesn't, i'm just saying that "I" have never taken this into account. I don't think it makes up for any injustice that exist either.

Bout time we got serious on this Role Reversal jazz.

Let her leave the seat up cause I dont wanna pee on it in the middle of the night.

Let her go scrape ice off my windshield while I sip coffee or snooze for three more minutes.

Let her run at midnight to get my tampons and pick up some rocky road ice cream while you are out.

Let her gnaw MY bunions for a damned change!

Let the women have 1 measley rack on sale at any clothing dept. Let the guys have 20 clearance racks!

Let the women take care of the snake that got in last night and is warming itself under the stove.

AND TAKE OUT THE TRASH TOO!!!!!!

hehehehehehehehe

I am gonna LOVE role reversal.....I gotta go get a pedicure...

I'd be happy to give u a pedicure sweety and it would be better than what ur paying for (if u get my gist)winking

but buying your tampons - hurumph - noway

Then dont act like youre replying to my quote if youre not, please.

it was not an act.
i was replying to your post!
the assumption you make that men treat women like a lady because they make less money is ridiculous. i have never ever had this come up in conversation with people of my gender. in fact, i bet if you ask, you will not find one single man who would agree with this.

you have introduced an entirely different topic here. the two do not go hand in hand.

if you treat someone like a lady it is because that is how you see them, not because somewhere inside you feel guilty for the non equal pay scale...

Perhaps you have not employed the proper techniques to crush his spirit and destroy his pride until nothing is left but a well dressed monkey butler.

I think he's just more traditional Sing.. He feels the man should be the main provider but does not have an issue with a woman making however much money and contributing to the household with him...

Yeah, I get that. Like I said, he'd be happy with a more traditional woman. I would not look for a guy who felt he needed to take care of me, as that just wouldn't make me happy.

a man who can support you without your income takes alot of pressure off of the household. i see alot of two income families that don't make it, because they live from paycheck to paycheck. if one of those gets interupted for any reason, the household falls apart

That's a nice thought. And may come into play later on down the road. However, when starting off, all I expect is someone who can support themselves. If down the road I get married, saving money together and things like that will come up, I'm sure.

I'm not looking for any particular type. However, I don't think I'd work well with someone who felt that women should be taken care of. That's all.

if a man can take care of a woman, that doesn't mean she has to be content being taken care of. she is her own person. financially, a man who can not afford a woman, probably can barely afford to care for himself. if you had to relocate to be with a man, he best be able to keep the ship afloat on his own. once you get settled, you could contribute if you like

Afford a woman? Sounds like you're trying to buy her.

No way ... I don't want a monkey butler! I want a smart independent type with opinions and thoughts and all the nice manly bits bigsmile

Please re-read. You are suggesting that I said something which I did not. Im saying she sacrifices a career to raise children.

My presumption is that men ask women out and 'treat her like a lady' because women will never have equal access to the same high power high paying jobs as men.

just a note: The last I read (about 2-3 yrs ago), women made "on average" 72cents on the dollar to a man. Not much information was in the article though - so I do not know if it was for equal work or just a round about lump total average.

Right, I introduced two ideas then went on to explain them.

Typically, the 'treat em like a lady' bit comes in when a man wants to select a mother for his children.

right, you did and i respectfully disagree with both of these ideas.

typically we treat others with respect as a result of our up-bringing. it also is as a result of actually having respect for other people.

i don't see how you have arrived at your position. maybe i am reading this wrong, but if i'm not, it sounds as if you are suggesting that men treat women with two sets of rules. those that could be potential "mothers" of our children and those that we simply see as objects. not all men subscribe to this way of thinking.

it was for equal work.. I did a paper on it a few years ago.. I think now it's up to 79 or so cents on the dollar..
