aha - the classic "madonna/whore" compex. yes, in fact , this phenomenon is well known and has a name. It is a psychological phenonmenon (I'd say illness) whereby a man marries a "proper" girl but keeps a sexually promiscuous woman on the side. It's where we get the expression: "A girl u can't take home to mother." It's also the good ole "double standard to an extreme, sadly even in this day & age if a woman intends to marry she has to watch her sexual "step" whereas men, of course, do not.

Like I said, just a presumption. Not two sets of women, I was thinking that this is how a man treats women in general....with a different kind of respect, since she (women he dates) is a potential mother of his children.

Respect for other people is great, but its different variety of respect when you open the car door for 'a lady', and not so much for a man.

I assume that it is the man who chooses one way to behave, toward all women, and has his own reasons for why. Ooo, I never even brought up the sex object idea.

I hope that makes some sort of sense.

I don't want to be a walking wallet. I want to be a partner. If the lady pays, that's her decision. She better be prepared though because I believe in the Japanese rite of three refusals.

If I genuinely like someone, I will at the very least offer to pay. If she wants to split the bill, I will offer pay the majority. Little things that early on show your interest.

On the first date, I would rather split it, or go tit-for-tat....or buy a few drinks. If I have to pay all of it, I will....but someone who DEMANDS that off the bat has less chance of a second date. I do it because I *want* to do it, not because it is *expected* of me.

I know few women who "demand"... It's unlikely that I would date a guy that "expected" me to split the bill... If I offer b/c I asked then I do but if he asks he should be will to pay just like I would.. Of course that is "my" dating preference.. Everyone is entitled to date however it works for them.. Which is why some people just don't mesh...

I want those pink carnation flowers sent to me at my job so all the guys can look at me and go, Awwwwwwww!

Honestly, it doesn't matter to me who asked who out. If the woman offers, then I'm still going to offer to pay at least part.

I actually do know women that expect the man to pay for everything, sadly enough. Even had a female friend try to convince me it was supposed to be that way.

Perhaps your friend was "traditional" there is nothing wrong with that in my opinion... Different people, different personalities.. The good thing is that we don't have to date anyone that doesn't mesh with our personality, but it doesn't necessarily make them wrong.. there are plenty of men that would never dream of letting a woman pay..

Suprizingly...the guys at work would gather like a bunch of women when I would get cookie bouquets or ballon bouquets and yes...even flowers.
