But why do you feel you need to provide for her? Make sure you can support yourself and you should be good to go.

exactly. if i can support her, than we are good to go. no need to argue about how we are going to "make it". if she wants to work or contribute, that's icing on the cake (so to speak)

So, you don't think women can support themselves?

I think he's just more traditional Sing.. He feels the man should be the main provider but does not have an issue with a woman making however much money and contributing to the household with him...

traditional, that's a better way to put it than old school. i do believe that women can (and do) support themselves. thing is it bothers me to see a woman working her hump off to support a healthy man, who has no qualms about laying around complaining how there is no work

I don't think that would be a good situation either. I support myself, so I expect the same from anyone I choose to date.

But yes, I do see that you're more traditional, which is fine. You'd be good with a woman who is more traditional as well.

I agree, I didn't get the feeling that ese thinks we can't support ourselves - which would be silly as many of us do

he is just an example of a more traditional guy, which is also my prefrence, and I think it's important to remmeber that these preferences are OK. Sometimes they can be as simple as generational or cultural differences. In the generation AND culture I come from it is a faux pas to ask a man out OR pay for a date, but I can get past that a little bit.

A good rule of thumb perhaps could be whoever asks at least offers to pick up the tab

but I doubt I could get past my upbringing to do the asking...as being that forward with a man was considered a sign that a girl was "desparate" in my day (as a young person). That's hard for me to get past. TBH

Yeah, I get that. Like I said, he'd be happy with a more traditional woman. I would not look for a guy who felt he needed to take care of me, as that just wouldn't make me happy.

I'm not looking for any particular type. However, I don't think I'd work well with someone who felt that women should be taken care of. That's all.

a man who can support you without your income takes alot of pressure off of the household. i see alot of two income families that don't make it, because they live from paycheck to paycheck. if one of those gets interupted for any reason, the household falls apart

Bout time we got serious on this Role Reversal jazz.

Let her leave the seat up cause I dont wanna pee on it in the middle of the night.

Let her go scrape ice off my windshield while I sip coffee or snooze for three more minutes.

Let her run at midnight to get my tampons and pick up some rocky road ice cream while you are out.

Let her gnaw MY bunions for a damned change!

Let the women have 1 measley rack on sale at any clothing dept. Let the guys have 20 clearance racks!

Let the women take care of the snake that got in last night and is warming itself under the stove.

AND TAKE OUT THE TRASH TOO!!!!!!

hehehehehehehehe

I am gonna LOVE role reversal.....I gotta go get a pedicure...

I have to agree with you there. I was not only supporting my ex-boyfriend because he wasn't working but doing all the housework, cooking, and yard work while he did nothing. Just about made me broke supporting him. Never again will I do that.

if a man can take care of a woman, that doesn't mean she has to be content being taken care of. she is her own person. financially, a man who can not afford a woman, probably can barely afford to care for himself. if you had to relocate to be with a man, he best be able to keep the ship afloat on his own. once you get settled, you could contribute if you like

Well, thankfully he was the exception and not the norm.

I would not want to see or personally experience a complete role reversal.A woman has many fine & splendid characteristics which make her gender unique not to mention highly attractive.Would I like to be handed a rose occasionally.Oh!my,I would love that.A single rose is thee symbolic expression that"I love you".I've yet to experience such a moment. My heart would surely quicken.blushing

I would like to see society loosen the traditional ropes so to speak & welcome a refreshing change of 50/50 in dating, ltr's,etc.I view traditionalism as merely the groundwork that our forefathers paved long ago but were never intended to remain permanent or exempt from change or re-modification.They were never carved in stone.Perhaps each one covering the cost every other date to avoid the discomfort of splitting cost of each item & fumbling for bills or credit cards all eve.(jmo)Godspeed!Cy  flowerforyou
