You cannot change the mind of someone who refuses to listen to reason or evidence. Let this thread die.

I agree. Although I highly suggest those with a desire for balance read more than what the ADL writes about him and research transcripts of his speeches or interviews to decide for yourself.

There is a series of Tavis Smiley on youtube entitled WE COUNT in which Farrakhan speaks rather eloquently and honestly to the black 'agenda' which is especially uplifting to me personally(not sure if it would uplift non blacks unless they are able to be empathetic to the history of other people though)

from the [anti-semetic? anti-israelite?) bible

'I know your afflictions and your poverty--yet you are rich! I know the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan' Rev 2:9

ADL is quoting him.laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh

Farakhan quote, his own words. "Satanic Jews".

I never said they didnt have 'quotes'. I only suggest those with the inclination toward a BALANCE of information research the words from his mouth in the CONTEXT of which they are said,,,

What good reason would he have to call jews satanic???laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh

refer to the biblical reference above,,,,

from my observation, Farrakhan hates injustice and oppression, not jewish or white or any other 'GROUP'

His comments about jews are extremely clear and parrot the same
antisemitic false themes of media domination, banking domination,
world control conspiracies that are found in such antisemitic
jew hating publications such as Der Sturmer, the Dearborn
Independent and KKK publications. It is the same kind of
crap that is written in the Protocols of the Elders of Zion which
is an infamous completely false forged document directed at
creating and perpetuating hatred of jews for no reason.

His own words are quoted and substantiated with correct attribution
on the ADL website. Many of them as recent as a few months ago.

The theory of jewish involvement in the slave trade for example is
historically false as well and is basically aimed at more jew
bashing. He is the worst kind of antisemite and unworthy of any
of your admiration.

Of course his conspiracy theories spill out in every direction towards
white people and the government as well. This is why Obama and
everybody else denounces him so vigorously. He is a one man band
of hatred and bigotry with a megaphone.

:tongue:

Farrakhan usually just says "jew" not "irreligious jew".
A jew by definition is someone who follows judaism as
their religion. He might as well say "irreligious christian"
or "irreligious muslim". If they are irreligious then they
are not jewish or christian or muslim.

So until he says that it has nothing to do with judaism he
is still a bigot.

I read widely and certainly get a balanced perspective but
the man is an antisemitic bigot any way you look at him.

individual members within the Nation are not immune to also being devilish,,it doesnt make the nation satanic, anymore than devilish christians make christianity satanic, or crooked white folks makes the white race crooked, or murderous black folks makes the black race murderous,,,etc,,

context is the concept that makes the difference in perception
I understand the context of Farrakhans views one way
and you understand them in another

A 1995 report...but goody for the racists here that they can attack a black man and a Muslim at the same time. It's the BONUS edition of "Who Should We Hate This Week?". Certainly not defending Farrakhan since he's just like the racists here on Mingle but all they want here is to point at others while covering up their own racist ways.

~~~~
"A leading example of a black separatist group is the Nation of Islam led by Louis Farrakhan. In 1997, and in less explicit ways since then, Farrakhan made clear that he had renounced none of the anti-white, anti-Semitic, anti-Catholic and anti-gay views of the previous Nation leader, Elijah Mohammed. Those beliefs include the view that Yacub, a renegade black "scientist," created whites 6,600 years ago as an inherently evil and ungodly people — "blue-eyed devils." Farrakhan has described Catholics and Jews, who he said practice a "gutter religion," as preying on blacks. He regrets the "tone" of a former principal subordinate who called for slaughtering white South Africans, but agreed with the message. He called for racial separatism and inveighed against interracial relationships.
If a white group espoused similar beliefs with the colors reversed, few would have trouble describing it as racist and anti-Semitic. Although the racism of a group like the Nation may be relatively easy to understand, if we seek to expose white hate groups, we cannot be in the business of explaining away the black ones."
interpretation of words (particularly in print) is indeed subjective,,, Jesus himself rebuked some of the actions of 'his people' and revelations refers to the synagogue of satan
but that doesnt make the bible or Jesus ANTI SEMITIC,,,there is such a thing as correction without hatred or bigotry involved,,,
their religion. He might as well say "irreligious christian"
or "irreligious muslim". If they are irreligious then they
are not jewish or christian or muslim.
So until he says that it has nothing to do with judaism he
is still a bigot.
I read widely and certainly get a balanced perspective but
the man is an antisemitic bigot any way you look at him.
its subjective, I see him as an anti satanic bigot (sort of like Christ was,,but I wont go there)
it is not subjective. being white or black is objective.
being antisemitic is objective. he is antisemitic by his own
words and actions. measurably. not a matter of opinion in this
case....
jews like muslims are also equally against injustice and
immorality. jesus was a jew after all. he believed and followed
judaism and was a good jew. the vast majority of jews are just
like jesus in that respect.
it is not christlike for people like Farrakhan to parrot
antisemitic texts like the protocols. it is un-christian
and wrong.
interpretation of words (particularly in print) is indeed subjective,,, Jesus himself rebuked some of the actions of 'his people' and revelations refers to the synagogue of satan
but that doesnt make the bible or Jesus ANTI SEMITIC,,,there is such a thing as correction without hatred or bigotry involved,,,
we are not talking about the meaning of Farrakhans words.
his meaning is plain. rebuke of some individuals is not
a condemnation of everyone in the religion.
i agree that the bible and jesus are not antisemitic but this
is not what Farrakhan preaches.
"synagogue of satan" is not meant to be a condemnation of jews but
rather a gathering of persons of like mind and spirit who are in opposition to the will of God whereas jews are dedicated to the will of god
from my observation, Farrakhan hates injustice and oppression, not jewish or white or any other 'GROUP'
His comments about jews are extremely clear and parrot the same
antisemitic false themes of media domination, banking domination,
world control conspiracies that are found in such antisemitic
jew hating publications such as Der Sturmer, the Dearborn
Independent and KKK publications. It is the same kind of
crap that is written in the Protocols of the Elders of Zion which
is an infamous completely false forged document directed at
creating and perpetuating hatred of jews for no reason.
His own words are quoted and substantiated with correct attribution
on the ADL website. Many of them as recent as a few months ago.
The theory of jewish involvement in the slave trade for example is
historically false as well and is basically aimed at more jew
bashing. He is the worst kind of antisemite and unworthy of any
of your admiration.
Of course his conspiracy theories spill out in every direction towards
white people and the government as well. This is why Obama and
everybody else denounces him so vigorously. He is a one man band
of hatred and bigotry with a megaphone.
:tongue:
Farrakhan usually just says "jew" not "irreligious jew".
A jew by definition is someone who follows judaism as
their religion. He might as well say "irreligious christian"
or "irreligious muslim". If they are irreligious then they
are not jewish or christian or muslim.
So until he says that it has nothing to do with judaism he
is still a bigot.
I was actually talking about how the CONTEXT of his words were central to their MEANING,,,,
