Topic: Hurry up and Wait! | |

So how do you cope with being forced to wait?
We are not talking about the DMV here, we are talking about when someone owes you money you need to fulfill a commitment! Yep, you all heard it from me... HURRY UP AND WAIT! |

I invoice my clients on a 30 day net agreement with 20% interest charged on the unpaid balance and compounded every 30 days.
If I was in a situation where my cash flow was affected by overdue invoices then I would borrow on a line of credit from the bank to make up the short-fall. The interest charged for the bank loan is much less than my accounts receivable interest charge. Whenever a friend or family member needs a loan for whatever reason then I can only give what I can afford to be without. Hope this helps someone else |

Break thier legs! Or the more rational thing. Don't lend money! Half of the time you lend money (or anything) you'll never see it again, so if you can't spare to lose it, don't loan it.

Apparently, you never served in the military. So true....but, the pointis: If you can't afford to give it away don't lend it!!! Doubt you will see it so write it off!!!Lesson learned! |

I have 'helped' alot of friends out over time, eventually I have always gotten back my money. Although there have been a few 'hostile' moments. For instance I had loaned a guy like 200 bucks while I was in Korea, the I was coming back to the states, and he kept 'forgetting' to swing by the ATM. So when I hit two weeks, I told him I needed it like now... When it came to one week, I ninja'd my way into his room and snagged his brand new MAC laptop, and left a note. I know that's kinda 'illegal' but it worked, he was knocking at my door with the money like an hour later. I returned the laptop and he was happy. I didn't want to piss him off, but he got over it pretty damn quick, and I got my money before I left country. So it all worked out fine in the end.
I am not recommending that you go stealing other people's things, but sometimes drastic times call for drastic measures. |

I never loan, I gift, but the person doesn't know it so if they give it back to me, I end up better off than I planned. It makes for a good day.

There is a significant difference between work you have done and money you have loaned out. There is also progress payments too!

Yep, you all heard it from me... HURRY UP AND WAIT! Does this have anything to do with the IOUs that the state of California gave to its employees? |

i dont loan and I dont borrow...its either a gift or nothing at all, thus eliminating the annoying "having to wait" to get it back.

I hear the Russian Mob is taking up freelance work. And those dudes always collect. You just might get it back in body parts, but even the mob can help you with their black market contacts. I see win-win here.
