"To be announced" films

These do not have any kind of specified release date and have either already finished their production or are deep into production.

Red State (Dir: Kevin Smith) 2011 Synopsis: A horror film in which a group of misfits encounter fundamentalism gone to the extreme in Middle America.

Thoughts: Yes, it’s that Kevin Smith. The man who brought us Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, and Zack and Miri Make a Porno. Apparently this has been a passion project of his for a long time, but whenever he tried to get it made, it just didn’t work out. I’m very interested to see what Kevin Smith does with a horror film considering someone like John Landis also switched genres from comedy to horror.

The Fields (Dir:) TBA, 2011 Synopsis: Tells the story of a young boy and his family who are terrorized by an unseen presence.

Thoughts: Starring Tara Reid and Cloris Leachman this film is adapted from the writer B. Harrison Smith’s experiences when he lived in Northeastern Pennsylvania in the early 1970s as a young boy.

The Ward (Dir: John Carpenter) 2011 Synopsis: A thriller centered on an institutionalized young woman who becomes terrorized by a ghost in a 1966 setting.

Thoughts: John Carpenter returns to horror with his first feature length theatrical films since Ghosts of Mars back in 2001. Since then he has done two episodes of the Masters of Horror series called Pro-Life and Cigarette Burns. The film stars a few up and coming actresses with Amber Heard, Lyndsy Fonseca, and Danielle Panabaker and it originally premiered back at the 2010 Toronto Film Festival. Reviews from that and other screening have been pretty mixed, but when you have people on both sides of the argument, that’s usually when you are onto something interesting.

The Human Centipede II: Full Sequence (Dir: Tom Six) 2011 Synopsis: none so far.

Thoughts: All I really know about the film is that it’s a sequel to one of the most disgusting concepts I have ever seen. Also there is a rumor that the human centipede won’t be three people because they are thinking more like 12 people. The first initial teaser was Six walking through a parking garage and showing us the “sickest guy they could find”. It could be legitimate insanity, or it could be a horrible sequel.

John Dies at the End (Dir: Don Coscarelli) 2011 Synopsis: It's a drug that promises an out-of-body experience where users drift across time and dimensions. But some who come back are no longer human. Suddenly a silent otherworldly invasion is underway, and mankind needs a hero. What it gets instead is John and David, a pair of college dropouts who can barely hold down jobs. Can these two stop the oncoming horror in time to save humanity? No. No, they can't.

Thoughts: This film is based on a book written by David Wong who crafted his chops over at Cracked.com. I haven’t read the book yet. If you don’t know who David Wong is, then at least realize that Paul Giamatti is starring in the film along with Doug Jones and Agnus Scrim. Although this really has nothing to do with Phantasm at all, it may be the closest thing to a Phantasm sequel we will ever see.

Quarantine 2 (Dir: John Pogue) 2011 Synopsis: A follow up to 2008's Quarantine, this entry is directed by John Pogue and "picks up later that night”.

Thoughts: While Quarantine was an American envisioning of the Spanish film REC, Quarantine 2 is nothing like REC 2 at all. Instead of staying in the same apartment building with some highly trained commandos, Quarantine 2 instead seems to focus on an outbreak in an Airport.

Hobo With a Shotgun (Dir: Jason Eisener) 2011 Synopsis: A homeless vigilante blows away crooked cops, pedophile Santas, and other scumbags with his trusty pump-action shotgun.

Thoughts: What started out as a fake trailer submitted in a contest to run with the film Grindhouse, Hobo with a Shotgun is now coming to the screen starring Rutger Hauer. This looks like a guilty pleasure movie. Even if it doesn’t go down in the annals of cinema history as a top 100 film, it sounds like it will still be quite a lot of fun.

Zombieland 2 (Dir: Ruben Fleischer?) 2011 Synopsis: none so far.

I've been curious about it, I'm not a huge Keven Smith fan but it does sound interesting.

Ah, but John Landis had plans of doing horror long before he did comedy as he wrote An American Werewolf before he even made his first feature.

The Fields (Dir:) TBA, 2011 Synopsis: Tells the story of a young boy and his family who are terrorized by an unseen presence.

Mmmmm Amber Heard...I mean it's good to see John directing a movie again.

Of course it's going to be 12, you always go bigger with the sequel!

Agnus Scrim? Is that Angus Scrimm's sister? I see anything Coscarelli directs.

While Quarantine was an American envisioning
it was an almost shot-for-shot remake.

I'm more excited by Eli Roth's making his fake Thanksgiving trailer into a feature length!!

Zombieland 2 (Dir: Ruben Fleischer?) 2011 Synopsis: none so far.

Could be really good, could also really suck.

I know, but from 3 to 12! Wow. I still don't know if I'm going to watch the sequel. I'm still feeling disgusted from the first one, and I've seen that a long time ago.

I liked the first one, but I didn't find it as disgusting as I thought I would, I think the concept was far more disturbing than the finished product. The actor who played the doc really made the movie for me.

One film I'm not sure I want to see, just from one of the scenes I've heard about is A Serbian Film aka Српски филм / Srpski film.

I guess I'm just not into the extreme, I've seen certain extreme films because of the their reps when I was younger like Cannibal Holocaust, but I've never gone out of my way to search out these films. Even when I watched Faces Of Death in my early teens before knowing it was mostly staged I had not desire to see the sequels or other films of it's type, I've never really gotten into the mondo-subgenre.

Hey Torgo!waving

I have a problem with the movie "The Day The Earth Stood Still"
the recent one-not the classic....
I know it's not horror-
but you want to know what my problem is?

after the Keanu Reeves character (Klaatu) is with the girl and her
kid and is on the run from the government ,,,,and the city is in
a panic with everyone fleeing.looting ,, fires etc...they stop at a McDonalds where Klaatu speaks to fellow alien(the Chinese dude).

Everyone in the McDoanlds is calmly enjoying their big macs and happy meals,,etc....

( Uhhhh...if aliens landed and all that chaos was happening-
there's something I would do-head down to Mickey D's...........)

am I crazy?slaphead

Hahahahaha you're not crazy, I noticed that too! It reminds me of Independence Day when all of the alien ships are surrounding the cities and Will Smith's wife goes to work at the strip club, and I think she even comments on it being empty...uh, hello? Alien spaceships have come to earth, and you're going to strip? Wouldn't you rather be with your son? Sorry, but it is one of the rare times where guys aren't wanting to look at naked women.
