Paranormal Activity 3 (Dir: Tod Williams) October 21, 2011 Synopsis: None as of yet

Let me guess...stuff moves around and they video tape it.....am I right? Am I right?

No, they put talcum powder on the floor and they get rabbit footprints. laugh

And then there's Paranormal Entity '09, which was made to cash in on the success of PA, it blends the mockumentary style of PA, and the paranormal rape from The Entity 1982. It's written and directed by Dick Van Dyke's grandson Shane.

Eh, that's a given. After a movie becomes a hit, another movie will try to cash in by making something in the same vein.

That's The Asylum for you, they're movie industry is making cash-in and copies of popular movies. When the Day The Earth Stood Still remake came out, they came out with Day The Earth Stopped. When When A Stranger Calls remake came out, they released When A Killer Calls....Transformers, they came out with Transmorphers.

I Am Legend = I Am Omega

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen = Transmorphers 2: Fall Of Man

Snakes On A Plane = Snakes On A Train

The Da Vinci Code= The Da Vinci Treasure

2012 = 2012 Doomsday

The Hitcher remake = The Hitchiker

Hills Have Eyes remake = Hillside Cannibals

Pirates of the Caribbean = Pirates of Treasure Island

Terminator Salvation = The Terminators

And Edgar Rice Burroughs and HG Wells must be public domain, because now they are doing adaptations of their work.

They actually have a term for their movies: "Mockbusters". They're rated as "less than B-movies". laugh

(You forgot to include Street Racer, 100 Million B.C, and Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus)

You can't forget Mega Pirahna

Haha! Nice, Kitty! (Can I say that? Hee.)bigsmile

Some things that can be learned from watching Mega Piranha:

1. The State Department doesn’t consider knowledge of Spanish to be a prerequisite for an investigative mission to Venezuela.

2. Knowledge of kickboxing is a prerequisite.

3. People remember who Tiffany was.

4. There are coral reefs along the bottom of South American rivers.

5.Piranhas explode when they contact building materials.

6.Genetic mutations are always favorable.

7.In the navy, you can wear whatever hairstyle you like.

8.Steering a helicopter makes the veins in your neck stand out.

9.Nuclear weapons have no effect on large fish.

10.Piranhas will attack boats, submarines and helicopters because they know there’s meat inside.

11.There’s nothing to eat in the ocean, so sea predators need to attack settlements on the coast.

Satan's Storybook '89- A movie not listed at all on IMdB, even looked up it's star Ginger Lynn on there and it's not listed. It is listed on her Wiki page. I remember seeing it in Fangoria Magazine back when it was released and you could order it. I never did, and never saw it in any of the video shops.

So I thought wow, a rare and unknown movie...well not so rare as it's been released on DVD(Netflix has it):

Here's a DVD review:

I just thought it was weird it has no IMdB listing, yet is on DVD.

It's a sequel to John Carpenter's Vampires, but I've never watched it.

Hahaha! I have a dog that "meows". laugh

I've seen that movie years ago, I think. I can only remember it vaguely now, but I think that film followed the same pattern as the first John Carpenters' Vampires (1998), but features none of the same actors. I found it ok to watch, but I don't think I'll be searching the store to obtain a copy.

I think the first one was with James Woods. I liked that one better.

 This was better than the movie!

I love cheesy movies, but made for Scifi(Syfy) Channel movies just don't do it for me....Syfy has great TV shows(Farscape, currently Eureka), and good miniseries(Dune, Children Of Dune, and the great spin on The Wizard Of Oz...The Tin Man) but their movies....ugh.

The general consensus of the film, initially, was disappointing because Hollywood chose to change the protagonist from a father, named Harry Mason, to a mother, Rose Da Silva. But other than that, all the other aspects of the game were pulled off satisfyingly, if not almost perfectly, making it possibly one of the best game-to-movie conversions ever made. Once the initial disappointment over the loss of Harry has settled, there is little else left that will do anything other than leave you with shocked sense of awe over the brilliant portrayal of one person's depiction of hell.

Unlike other horror games like, say, Resident Evil, which relies heavily on the character development and an in depth storyline complete with twists, Silent Hill relies on an exquisitely grafted atmosphere throughout the game and film. This was made using breakthroughs in 3D lighting and particle effects (smoke / fog etc.) at the time it was made. This became the game's trademark, and whether on purpose or not, was without doubt the aspect of the game which propelled it to stardom. And it is specifically this aspect that they followed so totally strictly that made the film feel so like the game. That, and the fact that a number of characters, many of the creatures (who could have been lifted straight out of the game itself they were so similar) and of course the slightly confusing story which was told in a more coherent fashion in the movie which allowed many of the fans of the game to see the story in a slightly different light.

Of course in a film you don't have to rely on finding scraps of paper and diary entries to piece to together the story, so as they are laid out more linearly as you watch the character's journey unravel you can concentrate on the visuals more than having to get your head around the strange and awesome world that is Silent Hill.

If you just want a quick review of this film, I can tell you that it is your stereotypical good horror in the sense that it has a good story, a start a middle and an end, plenty of soft core gore throughout to remind you what it is that you are watching, and the occasional hardcore scene which will knock you off your seat and keep you on your toes. What it is, however, I can assure you is entirely unique.

The story is coherent, but pretty out there as far as fantasy goes, because it leans further towards fear-of-the-dark type of horror rather than conventional sci-fi horror. By this I mean don't expect an actual explanation of how the horrors that are seen came to be, but rather why.
