Mother's Day (Dir: Darren Lynn Bousman) April 1, 2011 Synopsis: The sadistic members of a villainous family return to their childhood home to terrorize the new home owners and their guests.

Thoughts: Mother’s Day also happens to be one of those films that have been delayed again and again with no real determinable reason so there isn’t a whole lot of information on it.

Not a good sign with all those delays. I'm a huge fan of the original, I doubt the remake will come even close to the sleaziness and camp of the original, after all the original was written by Charles Kaufman(bro of Lloyd Kaufman)

Yeah, but this is the guy who brought us the Saw films, so need I say more? laugh

Actually you do need to say more...."guy who brought us the Saw films" isn't working for me.

I know! It was actually an attempt for sarcastic humor. laugh

Fright Night (Dir: Craig Gillespie) August 19, 2011 Synopsis: A remake of the comedy-horror picture about a teenager who discovers his new next-door neighbor is a vampire.

Thoughts: Fright Night holds a very special place in the hearts of a lot of genre fans, so it will be interesting to see how this film will turn out. It's been ages since I first watched the original. :)

It's gonna suck(pun intended) most likely they'll make it for the Twilight crowd.

Final Destination 5 (Dir: Steven Quale) August 26, 2011 Synopsis: Survivors of a suspension-bridge collapse learn there's no way you can cheat Death.

Thoughts: Sigh. When will the destination finally come to an end?

Earlier, watched the 1984 cheese-slasher Satan's Blade...Loved the fact that there is a murder in a cabin, weird symbol written on the wall in blood, murderer not caught, and the next day the police tell the owners of the cabin that it's okay for them to rent it outlaugh

Shark Night 3D (Dir: David R. Ellis) September 2, 2011 Synopsis: weekend at a lake house in the Louisiana Gulf turns into a nightmare for seven vacationers as they are subjected to fresh-water shark attacks.

Thoughts: There isn’t a whole lot of information out about this movie right now, so this is going to have to be another one of those movies where we go by the people involved and their previous bodies of work. David R. Ellis has directed Cellular, Snakes on a Plane, Asylum, and The Final Destination.

The Thing (Dir: Matthijs van Heijningen Jr.) October 14, 2011 Synopsis: At an Antarctica research site, the discovery of an alien craft leads to a confrontation between graduate student Kate Lloyd and scientist Dr. Sander Halvorson. While Dr. Halvorson keeps to his research, Kate partners with Sam Carter, a helicopter pilot, to pursue the alien life form.

Thoughts: A remake in spirit, but prequel by definition exists to tell the story of the poor Norwegian camp that appears in the beginning of John Carpenter’s The Thing (1982) with their guns a-blazing. Early word from screenings and on set visits all point to this film being a crazy mix of gore and violence from the alien life form. This movie has been delayed a few times and was originally slated to come out in the summer of 2010.

Paranormal Activity 3 (Dir: Tod Williams) October 21, 2011 Synopsis: None as of yet

Thoughts: Just like Saw before it, Paranormal Activity is shaping up to be the annual horror installment franchise that pops up every single year.

----
The Apparition (Dir: Todd Lincoln) October 21, 2011 Synopsis: A couple is haunted by a supernatural presence that is unleashed during a college experiment.

Thoughts: Since this movie isn’t set to come out till the last quarter of next year, there isn’t a trailer out or much of anything rather than two publicity stills.
----
Dibbuk Box (Dir: Ole Bornedal) October 28, 2011 Synopsis: A family is haunted by a box that contains an evil curse.

Thoughts: That description is a bit vague and generic, but apparently this movie is 100% based on a true story about a man named Clyde Breneck who, along with his 10 year old daughter Em, purchased an antique box at a yard sale (I guess in real life, it was purchased on ebay). When they got the box and opened it, it delivered an evil spirit that only wants to devour Em.

That makes 3 of us! It’s going to most likely be the same movie as the last three, and all you need to know is that this time, the big death cheating event is some kind of suspension bridge collapse.

Anyhoo, welcome to the basement, Kitty! waving I hope you'll enjoy the movies and the genre as much as we do.

Hi, Welshboy! Correct me, if I'm wrong, but if you're referring to the 1972 film The last House on the Left, then it's written and directed by Wes Craven and produced by Sean S. Cunningham. The story is based on the 13th century Swedish ballad "Töres dotter i Wänge", which was also adapted into the 1960 Swedish film The Virgin Spring, directed by Ingmar Bergman.

Written by Wes Craven in 1971, the original script was intended to be a graphic 'Hardcore' film, with all actors and crew being committed to filming it as such. However, after shooting began, the hard decision was made to edit down to a much softer film. This script, written as Night of Vengeance has never been released; only a brief glimpse is visible in the featurette Celluloid Crime of the Century, and a sample is available in the UK DVD release.

You may want to try this link http://www.moviewatch.in/watch-3745-The-Last-House-On-The-Left-1972 if you want to watch the movie. It's a free online movie site that's supposed to give you other link choices where you can watch the original 1972 film. Enjoy!

No problem. Glad to be of help. In some countries I've been in, yes, they do ban some movies so I can totally relate. On a somewhat different note, if you like this film, may I also recommend Day of the Woman (better known by its re-release title, I Spit on Your Grave), a controversial rape revenge film. The film was produced in 1978 and received a limited release, with a wider release in 1980. Another film recommendation is Night Train Murders, which is an Italian movie that is very much like the Last House on the Left. It's a dark tale from Italian cult horror director Aldo Lado. Vacationing friends Margaret (Irene Miracle) and Lisa are forced to change trains due to a bomb threat. But their second train is just as dangerous: They get stuck in a section with cold hearted thugs Blacky (Flavio Bucci) and Curly (Gianfranco de Grassi), who begin to terrorize the girls.
