with stupid people? They anger me so badly sometimes I get furious. It's really not in my nature to be that way but how do these people get through life? At work I am constantly dealing with the most repetitive, asinine questions and sometimes I really want to punch these guys.

How many times should I be expected to answer the same questions or show you how to do the same thing? 1,2,3?..... 10!?....20?!?!?!?

Does the fact that I am willing to answer mean they don't ever actually have to RETAIN the information?

I normally start by pulling out their toenails with pliers, and then if the stupidity continues i start working on the knee caps and eyeballs.

IT - IT doesn't matter, they'll still come to you for the answers regardless of how many times you gave it to them.

There are a few people I would love to do that too but I am a very kind and nice person. Plus, I like everybody.

me.. after the third time.. i would say look.. are you not listening to what i have told you? this is the fourth time you have asked. i dont mind teaching you if you will learn to pay attention.. so kick it into gear and pay attention this time. if not perhaps the next question should be to yourself "is this job really for me?"

You might have to try the Dana Carvey approach when they ask you stupid questions and answer with, "This affects me how?"

Sometimes I just stare blankly at them like they are speaking a foreign language to keep myself from going off on them.

Thanks buttons.... I try to be as nice as I can and keep the anger to myself but I should say SOMETHING. I just don't know if I can say it that PC lol

I deal with people like that at work a lot. Many don't like to read anything on their own and just want me to give them the information. I will the first time and will usually start with "As you can see from..." and name the document/email/website or where ever the info came from. After that, I'll just ask them if they read what they're supposed to read.

I've tried things like that too singme... then they say respond with "oh well I just wanted to make sure" ........... the worst one here is friends with the owner and I have no say in if he stays or goes. The owner knows he is worthless but feels bad because his buddy lost his job frustrated

well i think this will help you air to them.. but also put them where they belong.. some are so humm un-smart they dont even realize what they are doing till you say something a bit stern.. or tell them if they listen or pay attention this time that maybe you could teach them something new the next time they ask so they can advance in their job..<knowledge wise>

If it's a legitimate request for help, I have no problem with it. But I don't waste my time repeating the same things over and over to the same lazy people. So, when I've helped them once and sometimes twice if I'm feeling nice, I stop after that because those kind of people never want to do anything for themselves.

Perhaps you have EXCELLENT extended relatives Myka? I spent Thanksgivings with whom my sister referred to as "The Bickersons".
The favorite retort..."that's what SHE said". In the bathroom..a plaque saying "please do your paperwork".

I have a "SIXTH SENSE"........"I see DUMB people, they're all over the place.

YES...we have to deal.

Heck woman. In order to stand in your presence, and look upon your beauty. I would act like the stupidest guy in the world in order to have a chance to talk with you.

An acknowledgement that these situations frustrate you....shows more about where your tolerance levels are at, than whether people are brighter or less intelligent than you.

Repetitive asinine questions asked?

Don't answer.

Simple.

You play your part in the whole drama so well, why not continue it?

It takes two...one to ask, one to answer, and if it sh * ts you that much....why keep doing it?

Ego is a fascinating creature.

"Stupid"...is relative....what you see as stupid, I may see as unconfident....or overwhelmed elsewhere in their lives, and unable to retain mundane facts...

How do I deal with it?

Rip them a new one....

or continue with patiently engaging with them....

or suggesting they figure it out themselves...

or picture a zen monk, in the annoying person's body....here to teach me tolerance...

If someone asked me the same question over and over and over, I would write the answer on paper and staple it to their forehead. That way they can have the answer with them at all times.

Why can't there be a law against stupidity?
