Well, actually, it has never occurred to
me that they are using a phony picture. I think I would notice the phony words first. |

do you sometimes think the photos people post of "themselves" arent really them lol Some time back, we had a girl here who posted a picture of Michelle Trachtenberg and claimed she was actually her! I'm pretty sure she wasn't, though. She didn't stick around long. I was on a site a couple weeks ago where there were 6 or 7 who amazingly looked exactly like Miley Cyrus. They say everybody in the world has a "double" somewhere, but I guess Miley has a bunch of them. Scammers often use photos clipped from fashion magazines and websites. I've seen a lot of those. One good piece of advice someone told me a long time ago -- a "real" person is more likely to show more than one pic of themselves -- check the profiles, if they have 8 or 10 pics and they're all obviously of the same person, then there's a somewhat more reasonable chance that it's legitimate. No guarantee though! On the other hand, I've seen profiles where the person posted several pics, and they were ALL of different people -- now THAT'S a red flag! You've only been here a year longer than me. Am I correct that it has been three that used fake pictures? I get nudges every other day from women who are obviously using fake photos. Definitely more than 3. |

You've only been here a year longer than me. Am I correct that it has been three that used fake pictures? Maybe three who used obviously fake celeb pics. Other than Michelle T., none are coming to mind. BUT -- I can tell you that I personally have been contacted by dozens of scammers with obviously fake pics. This is a little bit hard to explain, but -- after a few years, you just develop a sort of "sense" for a fake pic. Too posed, too "glamor shot," too airbrushed -- I don't know. I mean, on the one hand you've got the MySpace camera-phone-bathroom pics, which are probably never faked because no one would willingly use such a horrible pic with bad lighting, mirror glare, etc., unless it was really them and it was the best they could do. But if you see a pic and your first thought is "Hmmm, that looks like it came from a magazine," then the odds are pretty good that it did. |

Almost every email or nudge I get from India is using a fake pic and I also have one local that I wear is using celeb pics but I can't figure out who it is.

....does it really matter?
The 'frozen in time moment' that gives a perspective of a person...is just that....one single static moment. If I am to be judged solely on how I look...why do I bother typing? |

A bit of my opinion::: before a meet and greet, do a search for the name in google, then check out www.romancescams.com to see pictures of these people.
Your picture could be there too thats why people dont like putting pictures up they are too easy to get a copy of. |

Scammers never mail me, makes me sad... I feel like I'm missing out on a large portion of online dating. *sad face* All you have to do, trust me, ALL you have to do is sign up online at PCH (PublishersClearingHouse) and you are scammer cat-nip. That is how I clicked on Mingle2 one day. And the email begins.. |

Then again, some people gotta use fake pics to make them more believable. I know of one bird on here whose actual hotness could end all life as we know it....yes, she is that hot....She used a fake pic for the greater good of all humanity. I would like to thank her and show it with the standing ovation in my pants.
