Im hoping that there is some medical ppl out there. For teh longest time now. ( really cant remember how long ) I dont have any energy, and want to do nothing but sleep. But whenever I do lay down and sleep, I can only sleep up to only an hour and a half at a time. This goes on morning, noon, and night. 24/7. 7 days aweek. Its really getting to me. Please. If anybody has a suggestion, besides going to dr. ( which im calling tomorrow to make an appt) Please let me know

It could be that you have high insulin. If you eat anything with sugar in it and you have high insulin, it makes you exhausted and unable to sleep at the same time. Try not eating anything with sugar and limit your carb intake.

A physical is a must. If everything is normal in that area, you could be suffering from a depression.

Eating right, not smoking, exercising, and getting enough water can effect energy levels in a good way, btw.

If you are not eating breafast and going on an all you can eat style Dinner, that would significantly lower your energy though out the day along with countless other negative health sid effects. When breakfast becomes the largest meal of the day and dinner the smallest your greatly effect improve your energy levels. Plus the small dinner will help you enter deep sleep sooner improving your energy level the next day! Good Luck!

B12 deficiency? Not as uncommon in adults as one might think. It can cause pernicious anemia and can cause disturbed sleep as well as exhaustion. Vitamin D deficiency can be a culprit, also. The doctor can check these with blood-work. Ask the doctor to check your blood for thyroid and glucose levels, too.

As noted above, depression is a possibility as well, but ruling out a physical cause is the best place to start. You wouldn't want to be treating depression while a potentially life-damaging/threatening physical illness is left untreated.

Best of luck to you. Hope you feel better soon.

I did have a question to ask you(LouLou2). Would eating 4-6 small portioned complete meals with a glass of water every 2-4hrs during the a day help out with vitiamin and mineral absorbtion issues?

I agree does sound like depression. This happened to me. What I found was that I wasn't being as active as I once was. You can't sleep really well if you aren't really tired...JMO..

b-12 works great the kind that melts in your mouth.. also i know when i went on a diet i saw a big difference in my energy level. the most carbs i ate on it were 2 pieces of bread a day.. and i made sure i had all 5 food groups as well.. really kicked it up on the fruits and veggies..seriously i think it was all the carbs i was eating.. not only that they made me really fat along with cheese.. im not much of a sweet fan myself havent been for yrs... also vitamins and i drank much more water <i dislike water> so i got the flavored bottled water.. do you exercise at all? i did not... then when i got more energy i was much more active which helped as well.. good luck yea and it could be depression.. i know i was because i got so far behind on things.. i also set goals to get things done..and seeing things accomplished without giving up really helped!

stress is a killer!! i know last nov when my job would not give e a working computer and expected me to fix it 10 times in the last 2 weeks .. i was staying up all night long i felt like a zombie the next day.. this kept going on.. every few nights.. up till 4 or 6 am! then i started sleeping till 10 or 11 and im a early bird i like to get up at 5! it was time to throw in the towel.. i was so stressed that is how i got behind on all my stuff at home too always worrying... so i retired<quit>.... now that i have improved myself im having a un retirement party next weekend.. and going to start looking for work again.. im excited.. and wont feel guilty cause i got my things done around here that have sat forever..i also had to make myself focus and not give up.. little things that would stall me before would make me not know what to do and it was so stupid.. to be distracted like that.. also making a back up plan helps too on some other goal if you cant work on one of them.. that way u feel ok if its not all the way done when its out of your control.. such as yard work when its pouring rain lol.. well i had stuff to do inside and didnt want to let the yard work go.. i feared if i started painting inside that i would go back to old patterns and not get back to the yardwork... so i learned to make up back up plans that are ok to work on... till i can get back to the other project...

Vitamins, fruit, vegetables, lots of good stuff, and stay active. Don't sit around alot. Get out and visit friends, or do some yardwork. Hell, go for a drive somewhere nice

I feel tired all the time too. Can't sleep most nights. When I do it's for a few hours at a time. I just thought this meant I was getting old. ohwell

Oh, geez...I'm not really sure on this. My less-than-educated guess would be yes, but just a guess. I do know that some nutrients are better absorbed when taken along with certain other nutrients (some are actually absorbed better when taken along with fats). Other foods can actually discourage absorption (milk products inhibit iron absorption). It might be hard, but check on line for a good site for guidance. Tough to find, though...so many of them are in the business of selling supplements/vitamins.

Medications are probably the biggest culprit when it comes to absorbing nutrients along with Alcohol, Tobacco, eating large amounts of any one item of food, or not eating enough. Balance and an educated decision help too. I learned the most about nutrition with "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Vitamins and Minerals Second Edition". It has become my nutrition bible and I have learned so much from it. The book talked more about the food than supplements which I liked.

I think CandyGirl hit it on the head ... sounds like hypo/hypa-glycemic issue ... hopefully a pre-diabetic issue that can be easily controlled by diet ... I'ld also have your blood-pressure monitored as those systems are also related to stress. What the others have to offer about diet is all valid, however for certain persons sometimes the good foods can be bad for you depending. Deffinately get a check up and a Diabetes screening done. It may be an alergy to certain foods? It might possibly be depression, but be aware that the medical community has been leaning towards the idea of blood-sugger and insulin imbalances as contributors to depressive syndrome. Fortunately most of these things can be alleviated by proper diet and being active.

Ask your doc to schedule you for a Glucose Tolerance test ... if you're pre-diabetic or already have diabetes, this'll tell you. From there, it's a matter of diet and exercise to turn it around. I was diagnosed in '98 as 'pre-diabetic' and after five months on the 'X Syndrome' diet and exercise, I was no longer in that category. I hope this helps and that you can turn it around ... I know from experience that it's no fun.

There IS one other possibility: It could be cardiac in nature ... your doc can tell you what it is, tho' ...
